Oregon State and Washington State in the Mountain West would be fun. Maybe not for them financially but as someone who watches a lot of late night games.
If I had to guess, we'd probably want UNC and one of the bay area schools to come too, most likely Stanford. The ideal situation for us is to package enough ACC schools: UVA/UNC/Duke/Miami, etc so that the whole league falls apart.
You add those schools and Utah and you'd have games in every time slot in the Big12. Games from noon until 10pm est.
Not buying that. Notre Dame can dictate the terms of their entry. They're not picking a West Coast team they haven't played in 40 years. And if Oregon was so desirable, then the B1G would not have pumped the brakes on Oregon/Washington.
all 3 would be in the bottom half of the conference in terms of fan support tbh im fine if the 4-corners schools end up in the big 12 but KSU, ISU, BYU, TTU, OSU, WVU, etc all care much much more about sports from a fan and institutional point of view. especially in the NIL era none of those 4 schools outside of arizona basketball are going to compete
I wouldn’t underestimate the appeal of Georgia Tech and allowing Big10 teams to play in Atlanta and recruit heavily there.
It’s crazy how many in this thread underestimate the value of FSU’s national brand. Even when they are shit people from all over the country tune into their games.
I would like to see something to back this up, because I’m pretty sure people from all over the country haven’t been tuning into FSU games in nearly a decade. Their stadium is barely half full for some games lol.
that said the big 12 especially if they get a streaming deal will need content and more teams is more tv spots so they add value from that perspective
not sure if any of the leftover pac-12 schools are good enough culturally or academically for the big 12. we would really prefer to add value instead of throwing lifelines at this time
I say we go with Texas, UNC, and one of Florida/FSU/Miami to round out an even 20 and create a nice little national conference vs regional conference argument to include in our NIL pitches.
The very reason I think all of these same-state ACC schools end up in the SEC is to keep the B1G out of their backyards. Getting built in recruiting inroads to GA & FL & way down the list SC is a game changer for the B1G.
The only thing I can guarantee is that the new ads will be more targeted than the old ads. Have fun giving up all your data!
All my searches for the past 10 years have been for “busty ramen chefs.” I can’t wait for the targeted ads.
When we’re good, we draw great. In 2014, we averaged like a 5.7, which would have been tops in the nation last year by a decent amount. Now, can we get our shit together? Idk man. Life is meaningless. But our ceiling for TV interest is arguably higher than any potential addition save ND.
For CU, I agree institutionally. CU is a mess there and I don’t see us competing in terms of NIL. In terms of football attendance, CU is right there with KSU, Baylor, TT. 45-50k. Same with Utah. OSU and WV not that far ahead. Honestly, CU is such a shit show that I don’t see us doing anything competent. We’ll just stick around a watered down P12, I guess. Doesn’t really matter. We’ve given up. Also, USC’s athletic director is the same guy that took CU to the P12.
I tuned into FSU and Miami games all the time 30 years ago when I was 10. And I'm a fucking Notre Dame fan so that's SAYYYYYYYING SOMETHING lmbo
Also can't wait for the Big12 to come out of left field with some announcement like that they have partnered with Roku to carry all their football games. Best part is the ACC will be like FUCK WE FORGOT ABOUT ROKU.
Yes and no imo. UGA and Bama are just robot football factories. Miami/FSU in the 90's had legit Tupac/Biggie swagger.
That’s right. That’s amazing coming from a fan of a program who can’t fathom winning a championship in 1080p.
Does being #3 really mean anything when the gap between 2 & 3 is going to become as large as we all know it will end up?
Is it inaction? Or only having schools no other conference wants? Because if it's the latter, I'm not sure what makes the Big 12 clearly better than the ACC now or whatever version of the ACC we get in the future.
I really think this ends at 3x24, with a significant gap between 1 and 2 and 3, but this will be group that decouples football (only) from the NCAA
4x16 makes so much more sense from logistical standpoint with schedules and post season. This is all just musical chairs to see which out of the PAC, ACC, and Big12 get the 2 remaining chairs
I haven't been able to follow this as much as I would've liked but I'm shocked UCF fans think they're getting a seat at the table
I mean yes but ACC isn't going to bring in the TV money as b12 has a good shot to pass them and grab some PAC schools according to Athletic. Considering from our perspective we're like 4 years removed from 2 million a year in payout so especially for us going to 25-40 mill a year is wild.
I don’t think any of us think we are safe, but I’d be willing to bet the Big 12 couldnt just say lol jk unless they dissolve the conference. Not one of us has suggested we are going to the Big 10 or the SEC which is the only true safe place.
