Fuckin a I loved that. I’d never heard of him before watching. Immense talent. I think it’s going to be a classic of the Covid era.
It has more listens than White Woman's Instagram on Spotify. It's actually the #4 song on there surprisingly
I think my favorite song on the special musically is "That Funny Feeling." It's just a good solid indie folk song.
Watched it tonight with the wife and one of my teenagers. He's brilliant in his way, and I enjoy the witty social commentary, but the introspective stuff borders on self indulgent harseshet
I liked it. Thought it had some great moments and some meh. Very impressive the amount of work he put into it.
I watched about a week ago and reserved comment until now. Guy is an absolute artistic fucking genius. So damn talented.
Yeah. I didn't much like All Eyes on Me at first. Then I watched a hot lady on youtube cover it and it was completely different. I watched it originally with someone so I didn't really watch it with the intent of letting myself be pulled in to it, but now that I've watched Bo's video a couple times I get it, it's incredible. It turns out, who's performing it really matters, and I think the only other person who could conceivably cover it is Weird Al, strangely, since it's so intertwined with the anxiety of also just performing comedy on stage as well as singing. Bo going between addressing himself, the audience, sometimes at the same time, talking himself through his own anxiety one joke at a time, (it's almost over (one joke's punchline/song), it's just begun(his whole set)), etc. And there's a lot of stuff like that throughout It's incredibly tightly written and just sublime.
So I watched it about a month after it came out. Hit me as pretty heavy but excellent. Really enjoyed it. Then just didn't think much about it but now a few weeks after watching I find myself listening to many of the songs on their own. On a real That Funny Feeling kick today. Sidenote: watched a comedian who hadn't seen it critique it as not stand up and some alt-art piece and they shouldn't be grouped together. First off, lost a lot of respect for that guy (Erik Griffin) because he came off like a huge hater and loser and 2nd think its maybe the truest definition of a comedy going back to Shakespearean definitions.
My freshman and sophomore years at LSU I lived in the athletic dorm. Across the hall was a hardo douchebag backup o-lineman named Erik Griffin , so I concur that as a general rule Erik Griffins suck
Erik must not have been paying attention to Bo’s quip about the non laminated pirate map. Classic stand up
There's some inherent darkness and introspection to it that people can't stomach. Different people experience isolation differently, and we are coming out of a massive period of it for a lot of people. The special is super heavy at times. That said, I don't know how anyone listens to the songs as just audio. It feels inherently like something that needs the entire experience to really enjoy. imo
And if anyone can't handle heavy emotional issues without turning away it could be helpful to ask yourself why that might be
Of course. But intentionally subjecting yourself to that in the meantime isn't particularly healthy either.
I usually don't care much for musical comedy but this has so much hype I'm gonna have to give it a shot
The idea that everyone has been or should have been in a deep miserable depression for the past year is puzzling. Inside would’ve been better as a 45 min special imo. It just got... tiring... fuck maybe I was just tired. It just stopped holding my interest. I know I’m in the minority here and usually keep these kinds of posts to myself but when there is a lot of hype here on TMB I have to say I usually love it. Really enjoyed In & Of Itself. This was just an unusual outcome.
I think there's an age range and probably location range on it too. If you lived in NYC, Chicago, Boston, etc I don't know how you *couldn't* relate to it. But if you live in Florida it probably wasn't that bad of a time
I think you're misinterpreting it if you think this was a piece intended to speak for everyone or a mandate to align experiences. The last year and a half was really hard for a lot of people though. I would agree that INSIDE is best ingested in more than one sitting.
I looked at it as more of a statement of how he was feeling and battling with his issues. I didn’t feel like it was saying I needed to have experienced the same things to understand.
I know a lot of people that find it difficult to afford the time and luxury of introspection. Our perspectives aren’t the only ones that bear weight or have value.
All eyes on me still goes through my head like once a week, especially when I keep up on news. You say the oceans rising like I give a shit You say the whole world’s ending honey it already did
