Hunter Mahan was the worst Tee to Green player on Saturday by 2.3 strokes and the best putting player by 2.5 strokes. That's such an unbelievable day of extremes
Jealous! It is definitely on my bucket list one of these days. Would love to see a PGA event here, problem is there is just not enough infistructue around the area to handle the players, workers and potential fans.
yes, paparazzi outside a club at 2 a.m. is the same thing as a guy photographing Bryson while on the course. also Harden won that case. https://abc13.com/james-harden-rusty-hardin-david-flores-lawsuit/5385918/ anyways, there's enough evidence Bryson is a douche, so I won't continue to pour on and you don't have to keep defending him.
They also have a relatively new South Course that doesn't have the views but is apparently terrific. Compared to the top top tier resort places it's relatively affordable too. Yeah, there's no way it could handle a crowd of that size. The course itself probably only has 40-50 rooms spread throughout the main clubhouse and some cabins on the grounds. Traverse City is still over an hour away and even then even with that, it probably wouldn't have the capacity, particularly in the summer.
Played the worst round of golf I’ve ever played in my life. Almost unstrapped the clubs on the cart and drove off the course. Sometimes I don’t know why I play this game. I’m just hoping I got all the crap shots out of me as I’ll be back out there next week.
This was me a month ago. Didn't touch the clubs until last weekend. Played a memorial tourney for my buddy who died 2 years ago. I played the entire round in red Chuck Taylors (we all wore red & red shoes, it was his thing). Played maybe the best round of my life. No practice, no golf shoes, killed it. Makes no sense.
You had no expectations and weren't thinking, just playing. Seems like my best rounds are when I don’t care about the result
Our 4some actually played match play 2v2, same set up that I got mashed on the month prior. Literally told my partner on the 1st tee "I don't give a fuck today".
Friend's member guest starts tomorrow. My member member is next weekend. Tweaked my back on Sunday. Pray for me.
Playing Karsten Creek on Monday in a scramble for the school. Member guest is this weekend then they’re hosting a women’s NCAA event next week. The super posted a picture today showing a stimp of 12 preparing for everything. Excited to see how they’re rolling for us
Physical injuries aren’t what get me in big weekend long tournaments. It’s the damage I do to my liver that fucks my swing up
Going to try to squeeze in one more round before baby 2 arrives. For the first time ever I’m going to try to play every tee shot to get to a specific club (likely full sand wedge) and just see how it affects my score. Typical round for me is something like 5 lost tee shots, several doubles, 1-2 triples, final score 92
With some holes I just play six iron because I know I’m going to be able to hit two good shots with it versus trying to get to a wedge for that second shot.
When I’m playing my best, it’s basically bc I’m doing this and using math. Couple weeks ago I only pulled driver out of my bag once. Pretty much every tee shot was a 5 iron.
Yea that’s a good idea. I may not try to play to the wedge on all holes, it’s more about not pulling driver or 3W unless it’s absolutely the correct play. I’m not a guy that’ll have a 5 birdie day, so I just need to limit the doubles, and specifically the penalty strokes
One of my high school teammates who was a couple years older than me (and Hunter) was paired with him in an AJGA event that Hunter won. Allegedly, he used one of those old infomercial Killer Bee drivers, could only get it out there about 200 yards, but his short game was straight up filthy. I always think of that story when I’m randomly paired up with 65 year olds who comment incessantly over my distance while beating my ass
Back at Pine Barrons today. Game started to come back from the horrendous round on Sunday. Started out rough but around hole 7 it clicked. There’s a short par 4 that plays around 305. Here’s my tee shot.
So I stuck to my plan for 18 holes and man, what a difference. 3 things were different today. 1. I had a plan, and only hit driver on 6 if 18 holes. I took just 1 drop rather than my usual 3-5. 2. I worked at the range this week on hitting a consistent baby cut and set up and played for that all day. This combined with the appropriate clubs led to playable approaches on nearly every hole. 3. I got a new sand wedge a month ago, first one in forever. I’ve been chipping and pitching with it in the backyard ever since. First real hole today, short par 4, first real swing with it is a 30 yard chip in for Eagle. Hole 11, I hole out with it from 60 for birdie. Time to frame that club, it won’t get better. I shot 84 on a course I rarely break 90 on, and that’s with an 8 and a 6 on 2 of the last 4 holes. Damnit now I want to play again
