Who all has been to the upstairs part of Thirsty Monk I love that thing where you get surprise snacks with your drinks
I joined the private club last time so I feel like I need to stop by and see what's going on. If I missed any meetings or anything
plus its not like you have a lot to stress about owsley. just accept the epl will stop at nothing to giftwrap the title to liVARpool and it makes for a more carefree viewing experience
i saw a tweet saying how oil prices have risen 4% because of the iran stuff and someone said "looks like city can afford koulibaly now!" and chuckled to myself thinking how apoplectic that would make watson
I watched games at Biergarten in September. We lost to Missouri so I’m not watching games there anymore
Any protips for a Monday day trip? The bestie and I are taking advantage of daycare being open while we have off. Coming from SC and plan to hit Sunny Point first, then AVL for 4-5 hours before a beer by the fire at Sierra Nevada on the way back. Last time we came on a Monday, tons of places were closed (naturally). Any spots with good small plates appreciated. TIA
Do you live there? If so or if you have other recs we are looking for a nice place for a Saturday dinner. Will try Bouchon but with a pregnant wife and looking at the weather would prefer somewhere that takes reservations. Preferably something new within the last year or so.
Sure do. where are you staying? as far as newer places, could try Rendezvous. It’s Bouchons sister restaurant. I think they’re no reservations also but there’s a bar and it’s not downtown so you’d have a shorter wait and a place to wait inside. Benne on Eagle is the other newer nice place that is getting rave reviews nationally. Kind of a funky menu.
Rendezvous does take reservations and that was an option. Not sure where we will stay yet. Since the wife is sober we might stay away from DT for once.
I'm heading up there next Saturday for the night with the GF. Love the idea of noodle places listed above but she's hoping to find Nepalese type food. Is there such a thing? Also, she's a wine person, any particular wineries we should check out? My hope is to hit one, grab lunch somewhere, hit two more, do something, then hit the Nepalese place (if there is one) for dinner. Tobias tagging you since you have the bomb red ginger suggestion previously. And yes, I just used "bomb". Don't judge me.
Just booked the Haywood Park Hotel for this weekend. Sure is a lot more than the DT Inn we used to stay in for shows.
i really really like melas which is indian kathmandu has nepalese/himalayan but idk anything about them other than that
Kathmandu kitchen is only thing I know of. Heard good things but never been. True wineries are down in Hendersonville. You can checkout Plēb, which is an urban winery. They buy local grapes and make non traditional varietals. And it’s in town,in RAD. 5 walnut is a good wine bar downtown but not local stuff. Also Bens Tune Up makes their own sake if that’s her thing.
I may go to Melas tomorrow. Keep wanting to go crush that lunch buffet and I don’t have plans tomorrow afternoon so I can melt into an afternoon nap.
If y’all are here this weekend there’s a small batch beer festival Saturday at HiWire for like 12 bucks with 20 breweries.
Sounds awesome. But I'll be home this weekend, though doing a whiskey, scotch, and bourbon tasting for a friend's going away party.
Nice. Are you going? My wife is getting a message at 1 so I will be wondering around solo. If so, send me a pm.
Preference has been liquor as of late and the GF doesn't really enjoy beer. So wine is a nice middle ground. Plus it's V Day weekend and we are early on enough where I still have to play nice that weekend.
I've been really digging a new-ish cocktail bar called Antidote if you get in the mood for booze. Right in the middle of south slope.
