Going in May for a convention. A rep is picking up my flight and hotel. He just said he thinks we are going to stay at Sahara.

The SLS Las Vegas was recently rebranded The Sahara. It’s a nice property. Not a great location though.

How is Vegas on the 4th of July? Since it's on a Saturday this year, thinking of making it a weekend. I know it'll be hotter than shit but thinking that would make for a deep talent pool at the pools.

Any deals for that weekend? I assume not. I booked Caesars at the end of the year but I'm open to anywhere on the Strip. What hotels usually have the best activities that weekend?

It’s going to be at least 110 all day every day. Pool, day club, etc should be pretty lit. Rooftop at night for 360 fireworks is kind of cool. Honestly I don’t think it will be much different outside of some extra crowds.

What night of the week and what are you out there for?

I'm out there for work in May and staying there and it's fine.

If you can get that room on Thursday of March Madness book it right fucking now

So, I think the wife and I have decided on Vegas for our 10yr anniversary this August. My wife didn't want to travel international and neither of us has ever been to Vegas, so Vegas it is. I'm looking for any help/recommendations because I don't even know where to start. We'd be flying in Weds night and flying home Sunday. It'll be hot as shit, so a bad ass pool is a must. I was thinking about doing some kind of desert excursion one day, taking in a show or two, and eating incredible food. I looked around this thread, but didn't see a list of "must go" restaurants. Nice timing because it'll be week zero of the college football season.
    Thanks in advance

Follow the link. All of the listed restaurants have been recommended multiple times in the thread. Where are you thinking of staying? I’ll see what else I can find. Also, all of the restaurants at Aria and Park MGM are excellent.

    https://www.elitetraveler.com/finest-dining/restaurant-guide/the-9-best-restaurants-in-las-vegas

edit: that title is incorrect. There are actually 11 listed restaurants.

Not bad. But you'll get cabin fever by Friday afternoon at the latest.

Staying there Wednesday is ideal, Thursday is fine too. After that you'll want a property with more action.

Westgate has a very large Sportsbook and they usually have something set up for March Madness that you need to pay to attend. But, that’s about it for Westgate. It doesn’t have good dining. It’s actually quite a walk to the Strip. No other properties worth mentioning are nearby.

No idea where to stay. Nice hotel with nice rooms, casino, spa, bad ass pool with cabanas and staff that will bring drinks.

    That’s a good choice - it’s a bit of a hike to, say Aria, but it’s a great property.

Food preferences? I’ll plug Bouchon and L’Atelier to anyone who is listening.

Have stayed there multiple times. It's quite a hike to get from them to the MGM casino and can be even further if you're in the third tower. Easy access to the monorail though. Good property overall

It goes all the way down to SLS/Sahara. We've taken it to there to get to the Stratosphere. It's not the free one though like across the street

That’s a very good choice. The Wynn/Encore Food & Beverage program is excellent. Pools & Spas are too. Across the street is The Palazzo/Venetian complex which is also excellent. Across LVB is a huge indoor shopping mall if y’all want to shop during the trip.

I think the link lists some in that part of the strip.

devine and anyone else who cares - I’d almost always take the strip property for the same price as off-strip, even if the rooms aren’t quite as nice. I’m generally a proponent of spending extra for a place to kick back rather than not wanting to be in the room at all, but I weigh the location factor more heavily when we’re talking off strip vs on.

For example I’d take Excalibur at 83 over Westgate. I would not take it at say 130+, probably.

I did a lot of looking around, this late in the game there was not much on the strip available. Linq, Park, NYNY, were all going to be about $1k for 3 nights. I saved almost $400. That seems worth it to me
