Read Moscow Rules first, the seventh in the series, followed by the sequel, The Defector. I'm now caught up through The Prince of Fire and am currently reading The Messenger. Has anyone else read this series?
I've read the entire Gabriel Allon series. They are all good and I look forward to the next one.If you like the Allon series check our the Vince Flynn series featuring the character Mitch Rapp and the Brad Thor series featuring Scot Harvath. Both are excellent although the Rapp books are the better of the two. I've started the Lee Child series with the recurring character Jack Reacher. it is very good thus far.
Al_Bundy, thank you for the recommendations. I'll look for the Flynn series when I'm through with The Messenger.
Out of all of them Reacher is by far my favorite fictional bad ass. Ted Bell with his British protagonist Alex Hawke is a very good series as well.
I have the first 15 Reacher novels on Kindle. You will not be disappointed, but then when you see that Tom Cruise was picked to play Jack Reacher in easily my favorite novel One Shot you will be just as pissed the fuck off as we are.
You have to be fucking kidding me....Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher??? They do realize that Reacher is a 6'5 220 lb former MP ass kicker right? What a failure of an actor selection. Mark Wahlberg maybe. Maybe Gerard Butler or Jeremy Renner. Hell...I'd rather see Dwayne Johnson than Tom Cruise.
Yeah it is complete and utter bullshit. He is literally the last actor on the planet I would think to play Reacher. Fuck Hollywood.
Just wanted to let you guys know that the new Daniel Silva book (Fallen Angel) was released today. Another good series for those of you that like the Vince Flynn, Scott Harvath books is the Gray Man series.
This series has been on my list for years. Finally started it. Halfway through The Kill Artist and can't put it down.
A year and a half later, I only have 2 more books left. Just finished The Black Widow. Was my favorite in a long time. Excited for the next book. Quite the cliff hanger.
Yeah, the Saladin arc was better. Seemed like OW is a set up story, it did send me down a Cold War spy Wikipedia hole though, which was enjoyable
It was really good. I thought the last book was pretty forgettable . Any storyline that involves russian double agents has a high bar to cross set by Red Sparrow This book was a great bounce back He wrote about it in the forward but having to rewrite most of the book must have sucked
I just finished The New Girl. I thought it was excellent. Silva really does a great job here and is keeping the series moving ahead well.
I just finished the 11th book and feel like the series has gotten pretty formulaic right now. Does that change and the series get a second wind? I know a lot of people here enjoy them generally and I’m just wondering if I am burning out on them because I’m reading them to quick.
It gets stale, but there are still some pretty good books. Not a great as the first 8-10. The last book was really good. However this most recent one was really bad. Like I wouldnt have finished if it wasn’t so short or a Allon novel.
A couple series recs since most in here seem to like this type of series. I’ve read all the Rapp, Allon, Horvath and Reacher books. A couple good series similar are: The Grey Man Series - Mark Greaney The Cleaner Series - Mark Dawson Hawke Series - Ted Bell Doc Ford Series - Randy Wayne White Caribbean Adventure Series / Rising Series / Fallen Series - Wayne Stinnett Achilles Series - Tim Tigner John Milton Series - Mark Dawson
