There is a decent chance he will. He was completely lost last year. Compare that to Fromm as a freshman. His saving grace will probably be the horrible Big Ten and OSU's pathetic schedule. I think you'll see some "wow" plays from him and you'll see some of the WOAT interceptions as well. People forget he didn't come from a good HS program so he's had limited high-level coaching.
The system and the league will help him a lot. I don't think he would have ever lived up to his potential in our system, personally. Beck is a tremendous fit and has the look of an NFL first-round pick one day. Now that it's all in the rearview mirror, I can't envision what it would have looked like to have Fields on the team in 2019. Would have been such a massive distraction. If Fromm stays healthy, we are without question better off not having him in 2019. Obviously 2020 is a different story.
HOT TAKE: Fields’ ranking out of high school was inflated the summer before his senior year because he was the only major QB still uncommitted and the recruiting services needed a player to write about who could drive clicks. He was closer to a 4-star than 5-star, much less the top player in the country.
Fields is an amazing talent and is going to do great no matter where he ended up. Kid is a phenom, like it or not.
He dominated at the Elite 11, and his highlights his SR year (prior to injury), were ridiculous. He was a 5* for a reason. Rankings are also frequently based on potential, which his is sky high.
Most of that was fascetious, as he obviously has a ton of potential and raw skill and could/should be an outstanding QB. I don’t think he’s anywhere close to Trevor Lawrence’s level, which is how he was hyped his senior year. (This is also very easy to say in retrospect.)
Did you know that "facetious" is the only word in the English language in which all vowels are present and in order?
There is no question Fields is a tremendous physical talent. I would submit there is some question regarding his ability to play the QB position at a consistently high level. He would not be the first tremendously talented QB who lacked a certain something in terms of processing and consistently making good decisions with the football. He’s also a very different personality. That won’t matter if he’s killing it, but it will if he struggles some. With that said, I hope he’s horribly injured so he never has a chance to prove he can be a top level QB. Sorry, not sorry.
Arrested during the day? They are either the biggest dipshits of all time or some ACC cop was being a huge asshole. Goddamnit.
This is an “emerging from an alley” level offense. Absent aggravating factors, I’m more annoyed at the cops than the players. On the other hand, this is just more evidence that Fromm is not a good leader.
