The other thing that’s funny about Cody is that his dad was notorious for fucking people in the business over. None of this should shock him (though in fairness I don’t think he ever plays victim)
Good interview Vampiro did that correlates with a lot of what you said. https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2...er-room-of-desperate-men-on-the-verge-674551/ Spoiler "It was bad because that's when I was starting with my situation. My main injury came during WCW, but I was already injured before that," Vamprio revealed. "I'm educated different. I grew up in wrestling different, but I'm also very religious. I'm very sensitive. I have nothing to do with my image, the way I look physically. I'm easily affected by people who are bullies and people who suffer. So WCW was a locker room of desperate men on the verge of suicide. There was like, I don't know, 50 or 60 of them that did commit suicide or drug overdoses. "The political situation behind the scenes, the manipulation the lying [and] the cheating and you have a group of guys who are overly insecure, full of prescription drugs. I don't mean one or two pain pills. I mean 70-80 pain pills an hour every hour every day, major, major, major major doses of anabolic steroids plus all the injuries and the mental health stuff. Then, 'Who's doing this? Who's getting paid that? This guy said this?' It was almost as if somebody did it on purpose so that we would all kill ourselves, you know as an experiment. It was horrid. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy." "You're a product of your environment," Vampiro noted. "So you have to live with these guys and some guys have different versions of it. And yeah, I made good friends, and I loved my experience with the fans. But hey, I don't give a s--t what those guys say, I was there and after 39 years in the business, I have every right to tell you because I started before wrestling had television. Now, I'm producing TV shows. So I know what I'm talking about. "So a lot of the a-- kissers. 'Oh, no, it was great,' and they're still trying to hang on and get that one last indie booking. I can say a bunch of names, but f--k those guys. The reality of the situation is, they were as much a part of the problem as the guilty ones work because they didn't speak up. They didn't have the f--king balls to stand up. They just want that paycheck. It's like prostitution is what it's like man. I didn't spend my life being an athlete at a high level: hockey, football, basketball [and] pro wrestling. "I was Vampiro for 12 years in Japan, Europe [and] Mexico before I even mention WCW. F--k WCW. I didn't need WCW, but it was the natural progression in my career. I've been in all these places. I got to go there and dominate, and they said I'm never going to get a shot and I f--king schooled it. I don't care what you say. It is what it is. So yeah, it almost killed me. It really did." Hausman asked if Eric Bischoff had tried to reign people in, and Vampiro, who said he's a fan of Bischoff, was sympathetic to what Bischoff had to deal with citing the types of things that would be said at WCW by dozens of people at the same time. Vampiro also cited that Bischoff was seen as an outsider that made it a constant battle between the old guard and everyone else that made it hard for everyone. "Poor Eric Bischoff man," Vampiro said. "A lot of people don't like Eric Bischoff, but I do. Look, he's a man. He's a human being. What are you supposed to do when you got 80 guys and every one of them is the greatest thing that's ever happened to pro wrestling. If it wasn't for those guys, there would be no industry. Up his a-- 24/7. 'Sleep with my wife. Take these drugs. Here's half my money, put me on TV.' What the f--k are you supposed to do? And that's what it was like. "I mean, hey, it ain't ballet, and we're not innocent. You know what I'm saying? I wasn't this unicorn going in there. I mean I was a f--king guy from the street, and I would rob you before you can blink your eyes. I mean, that's how I grew up, and I was looking at these guys in the dressing room like, 'motherf--ker,' you know what I'm saying? "Like management was hands-on, but that's 'the good old boys club,' and they didn't like Eric Bischoff because he was an outsider. There was never harmony. It was just a constant battle. So you walk into that and you're like, 'what the f--k am I doing here?' For me, it was very hard, very hard."
according to Wiki CFO$ was being fucked by it’s publisher. WWE offered to buy out the contract so CFO$ could work in-house for WWE and the deal was rejected and now apparently CFO$ disbanded and no longer make music together. Sucks. “In February 2020, it was reported that CFO$ had been in a dispute with their publisher over the previous several months, due to money CFO$ states was owed to them per their publishing deal. CFO$ attempted to have WWE buy them out of their publishing deal and have them work in-house but the publisher rejected the proposal. As a result, WWE has used no new CFO$ music since. In August 2020, CFO$ was released from their recording contract and disbanded shortly afterwards. [30] “
So it seems like WWE had some exclusive tracks with CFO$ and that’s why some RAW themes, wrestler themes are still being used. But a theme like Lee isn’t exclusive and WWE and Lee are working on replacement theme
Some of the stuff WWE does makes sense from a business standpoint. I get people freaked over them not wanting characters using social media platforms. But the WWE is a billion dollar company that’s publicly traded. They already had guys like AJ make comments not appropriate so making sure talent isn’t using company owned names to promote off brand stuff makes total sense. But keeping a trademark for a talent name you won’t be promoting or using anytime soon doesn’t at all. Like you or someone else mentioned Cody doesn’t cry over it and it’s actually worked in his favor because people now support him because of it.
I get why people like FTR but to me, they have been such a bore in AEW. The only thing saving them is Tully, and even then, the other two talked more than he did tonight.
Starks/Darby is right behind the Cabana/Dark Order stuff as far as what I find most entertaining in AEW right now.
Big fan of Starks. He is going to be a big part of AEW sooner than later. I like Miro just being himself as well.
I don't think a network is going to keep a show that gets consistently beat every week by the competition when they can see by moving it up a day increases viewership and key demo.
By all accounts, WWE has asked to move nights, but USA won’t allow it to happen. At least that is what Meltzer has implied.
Interesting, I haven't researched it. I just figured USA would be the ones that wanted the ratings and Vince would try to be stubborn.
Been watching a YouTube series about the Monday night wars as background noise today while working and one video I found pretty hilarious given what is happening today. During the billionaire Ted skits wwe did about wcw, one was centered around the idea that Ted wasn't thinking about wrestling fans by having the shows on the same night when he owned the network and could have picked any other night and the fans would win and be able to watch both. Accused him of purposefully just trying to run wwe out or business
Thats a really good number coming off a generally bad PPV. I'm thinking the rumors of moving days is only because both programs were forced to move out for sports. I don't think either network has plans to move them
Have a friend who is a thunderdome audience member tonight, may tune in a little to find him. Let's see how long I can stand watching raw
Oh, they cycle the thunderdome people like every 15 minutes. He isn't on until 10:45. See yall for the main event
Micki James is terrible. That was a horrible match she was all over the place. I think she went to tell the ref to count and accidentally tapped lol. Matched sucked anyway.
Zelina gets squashed by Bianca multiple times boom Zelina title shot. Trash just pure trash. At least it’s not Natalya though.
To be fair AEW is doing that stuff too though. Jurassic Express coming off losing a feud to Young Bucks get in an immediate title program with FTR. They'll probably just have Asuka squash people until Charlotte is back to beat her again. And the end of the match with Mickie James was the most confusing thing I've seen in a long time. Match was disjointed and awful before that too
And dump the women's tag title because your roster isn't deep enough to support it and let Shayna get back in title picture
With all the money they have to sign talent and with all the hours they have to fill content, there is no reason they can't have a big and vibrant tag division. The biggest thing holding WWE back is Vince's insistence that every creative decision be filtered through him and rewritten multiple times over by him. If he would just be a big picture guy and let writers craft stories for divisions, titles, shows, etc, the product would be so much better.
whenever I watch raw anymore the thing that really jumps out to me is how bad the direction is. the camera cuts literally make me nauseous. and they always seem to have the wrong shot on the big moments.
i said that last week about NXT, all of the cuts and the shaking the camera during moves makes me sick
Some speculation online is people think Mickie got a concussion in the match and its why it looked so disjointed. Speculation is she was going off script and didn't look right so ref just stopped it quickly
News is that Mickie dumb ass tried to roll out of that move and her shoulder popped out of place. Ref saw it and stopped the match.
