During covid spent a lot of time on YouTube and one of those UK wrestling YouTube channels had a wrestling trivia show where one of the categories was "guess those nips". Male wrestlers only but it was just guys guessing wrestlers based on edited photos only showing their nips. Kind of amazing how many they actually got right...
At first, I thought it was dumb. But he’s Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather level cocky so it sort of works at this point.
That rocks. It’s been a while since I’ve been but it’s always a good time. Plus I have a nine-month old son and it’s a night out with grandma babysitting.
That Judgment Day promo was some of the worst shit I’ve seen. The other two made Balor look like prime Ric Flair on the mic.
Dom is clearly still suffering some post traumatic stress from being in prison. and Priest even admitted he was so worked up and mad that he couldn't get his words out.
He's not anywhere close, but I think WWE has a future star on their hands with Montez Ford. Would be cool if they did something with him.
He’s been bubbling… thought they were on the road of splitting them around Summer Slam. But seems like Trips changed gears on it. Dawkins has improved as well, I think he could do well as a single
I just hope they don't do a split angle where they have to feud, I'd rather they just get drafted to different brands and keep that friendship. Montez to me has main event potential and Dawkins could credibly hang around IC/US title level too
If I had known Lita was going to be involved I wouldn't have even changed the channel to watch the main event.
Again, I’m talking about IF they job Sami out at EC and have Roman move on to just Cody for Mania. You read well dude? I’m not sure you hear well either, because the Sami chants already started while Cody was talking. The segment itself was incredible. You have to think Trips allowed Heyman complete control there, and that guy doesn’t miss. Heyman’s brilliant, he knows there’s a chance fans derail the Cody/Roman build with Sami chants. If he keeps producing segments like that, it’s less likely to happen.
I’m surprised people aren’t open to the idea that the live crowds will shit all over Cody and Roman if Zayn doesn’t win the title. I don’t think it’ll happen, but it’s very apparent the crowd wants Zayn to win at EC. It’s reasonable to think the Ottawa fans go nuclear on Raw after EC and that snowballs into a thing headed into Mania.
The other thing is that pre-Covid, Mania always had a different vibe because so many international fans came to the shows. Those fans were into hijacking the shows which is why WWE just treated the Raw after Mania so differently, because those fans usually stuck around. This is the first year it’s reasonable to expect a large influx of international fans and you never know what they will do. I am confident those people are Zayn fans though.
The last thing I’ll say is there is a large portion of the WWE audience that think Bray Wyatt is entertaining, so giving them the benefit of the doubt about anything is a fools errand.
I haven’t watched a ton of Raw but why Lita? Does she have a history with Bayleys crew? Are they setting up a match no one wants? It fell super flat to me even if the crowd popped.
HHH: "hmm let me try and interweave the story we're trying to tell (the son of Dusty chasing the title his dad never won) with this great Sami/Bloodline story that's taken on a life of its own" Vince: "Sami Zayn vs Omos with Sami losing in 12 seconds! Such good shit!"
It's not that people aren't open to the idea, it's certainly somewhat of a possibility, especially in Canada as I've mentioned before. It's just that the people online most adamant the crowds will turn on Cody are mostly AEW beards who are in full jealous ex girlfriend mode when it comes to Cody. So it's just as much of a wish for them as it is a prediction. I mean that dumbass said WWE was "pLaYinG wiTh FirE~!" by having Cody wrestle Seth on a house show ffs
Hahaha you’re such a little shit. I didn’t like Cody in AEW. I tend to not like people who have an overinflated sense of self worth, hence why we might be butting heads. I enjoy AEW. I think they do a lot of great things that WWE did at one point, but got away from when they went PG. They’re also not above criticism from me. You realize we all watched WWE before they existed, right? I want them to do well. Competition makes both better. And I knew it wasn’t what I said that you had a problem with, it’s the fact that you view me as an “AEW neckbeard” hence how dare I criticize WWE. If that’s what you want to picture me as, have at it. I’m the furthest thing from that. To touch on your last point, yeah dumbass if there’s a concern about keeping Cody as popular as possible to keep the fanbase behind him, having him run house shows against another white hot baby face isn’t ideal. Back to my original point which seemed to ruffle your feathers, it seems WWE is aware and concerned about the same thing, per the tweet above.
I apologize for my part in it, but that guy is grating on my nerves. I posed a discussion point about concern around Cody not getting the Bluetista treatment, and he came after me personally. I think it's a valid concern. I also think they did a tremendous job last night keeping it from happening with a quality segment. Make us want to be behind Cody, give his story meaning. It's hard to overcome an organic movement (Sami, Kofi, Daniel Bryan) with somebody who seems to be handpicked by the company. Last night was a great first step. If you give us a genuine rooting interest in Cody, the crowds are less likely to take over and go into business for themselves.
I always find this narrative hilarious. I would imagine that 80-90% of the AEW/IWC also tunes into WWE and goes to live events and PLE's. I don't think you have a lot of people who truly only watch one or the other. This thread is filled with people who claim to only watch one and yet are very much in tune with everything going on with WWE and very vocal and the direction it should take with the product and storylines. I honestly think because Vince is gone those vocal "Euro/IWC" crowds are going to give Trips all the runway to tell the story. I think under Vince you would already have the crowds shitting on Cody post Rumble... hell it probably would've started at the Rumble. Last night they did a fantastic job of talking about the elephant in the room, pivoting off it and by the time that promo ended everyone was locked in for Cody/Roman.
I think were looking at a triple threat at EC with a Canadian star joining Lita and Becky. Maybe that get's transitioned to those legends going after the tag titles at Mania. Don't know where that puts Bayley and Becky at Mania. You have a valid reason to be concerned, but you want to overlook some key points. First Cody debuted as maybe the biggest baby face in the company at Mania last year. He's run before getting injured was hot in every town and people bought into Cody. Second Cody is returning from injury but not Hollywood like a Batista was. Its not force feeding us Orton for the 100th time as champion. And finally as I mentioned I think even the most hard core IWC fans that make up the WWE audience know we have no leadership in WWE and trust that leadership. At this point they have navigated this perfectly. They had Cody mention Sami on b2b weeks of RAW and addressed it head on last night and it went over well with the live crowd. Sure Canada is going to be insane for Sami and probably KO for EC and the RAW after. That doesn't mean the story is derailed. But ZPZ is right... there is a huge shitty narrative from largely AEW fans who are almost rooting for WWE to fuck this up, not saying you are in that group but the narrative has formed. I know Dave is giving Cody the credit here but WWE is a hot product right now and it's been doing late bump sales for pretty much every PLE and TV. Who didn't know Cody was going to be on RAW? WrestleTix dude on twitter always gives multiple day updates on ticket sales and this just seems more a WWE trend vs a Cody trend. If it really is a Cody trend well WWE really has something on it's hands... Because over the last 10 years you probably have The Rock, Austin, Cena and Roman as legit ticket/tv draws. If Cody is now that over... well shit.
I think it depends on what they have lined up for night 1 at mania... Last year it was Austin v KO to balance Roman v Brock. Does WWE get Austin or Rock or something built up hot enough for night 1 to balance Roman v Cody night 2. Does KO/Sami v The Uso's draw enough to carry night 1? I honestly think we only see Roman once. But i'm fine with him doing double duty. I think a poster itt mentioned the demise of the bloodline so if Roman drops the title on night 1... leading to a tag match of some sort for night 2 with say The Rock joining the Uso's to remove Roman as head of table? that's a lot of story to tell as your telling Cody v Roman but Heyman is a genius and has yet to miss with the bloodline stuff
