Tiffin did you get in line really early last year? What was the wait like? I'm trying to decide if we should get in line around 6 or 7 pm or later since we're doing groop camping.

I will not be doing grooop camping. Have we figured out how they fill in the campsites. We weren't that far away last year but we weren't that close either.

IIRC last year we were close to Pod 9 site 40 on this map and we arrived ~midnight

Last year we probably got in line between 5 and 6. Maybe 6:30, but it couldn't have been later than that because we were able to set up camp in groop while it was still daylight, albeit fading daylight.

The good thing about groop is it doesn't matter when you show up because you've got the space. The volunteers were a little disorganized last year and it started raining as we pulled up, so it took them a little while to figure out where we were supposed to be. But we were probably the 3rd car from our groop that showed up and the whole groop pod was relatively empty.

Our whole purpose for getting their so early was to be able to set up in the daylight and maybe not rage through the night on Wednesday like we had done in years past. We accomplished the former, but less so the latter because it's just so damn exciting to finally be on the farm.

I want to say they opened the exit from the interstate around 3 or 4 last year so the wait just to get into the farm wasn't too bad at all. If you've got the groop car tag they'll throw a G on your windshield after they search your car so that the others know where to direct you. There wasn't that significant of a wait to get into groop either, they just ask what groop you are and point you in the right direction but they're making of the actual spaces is a little confusing.

Anyway I'm not sure I answered your question or not. I'll say that I think it was worth it to go I as early as we did since we had the option to and not have to get worried that we'd get put out in BFE. Setting up in daylight was worth it and then it was easy to help others showing up later figure out exactly where our camp was and help them get set up. We still had to wait in line to get onto the farm, but it was probably the shortest wait we ever had because I'm sure a lot of people can't take off on Wednesday so from most nearby places aside from Nashville you can't really get there in an hour so didnt have quite as many people waiting out on the interstate.

Found out last week that my wife and I got free media tickets. Getting excited as hell. Apparently we're camping in the media campground and a lot of the acts wind up staying there. I think they have showers or else there's no way in hell I'd take my wife out there.

Haven't been to Bonnaroo since 2003. Is it still easy to procure medication and are those mounties still the only police force? I don't want to bring in anything but would love to do some stuff while I'm there. So freaking excited.

Any suggestions on gear? I know you need a ton of water and as much ice as you can get your hands on. Definitely bringing a backpack but I'm struggling to figure out exactly what to bring.

My only mandatory item you need is a camelbak backpack or anything that can hold water and is easily portable. Seriously a lifesaver.

Not sure about the media campgrounds but there are always folks walking through the regular camps trying to sell stuff.

    Mounties still there

If you're just taking a backpack I would recommend a few Nalgene bottles or something similar. Sunscreen. Goldbond. Hat. Bandana. Sunglasses. Contacts and glasses if you use them. I wear contacts during the day and my glasses at night. They'll let you bring small snacks like trail mix or beef jerkey into Centeroo in your backpack. Cigarettes/lighters. Bring several. If you can't find any weed offer a lighter to someone about to smoke and they'll return the favor. I always snuck a flexiflask in just so save a fee bucks. Hand wipes and baby wipes.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

    FIFY.

Also, I went to a brew fest this past weekend and a day fest and all the portos had a fucking grated floor. That, in an of itself, would make the Roo ones so much better. Hangout also had a shit tone of just straight up urinal style portos. Would like to see that sort of thing at Roo.

Interested to hear what changes they may have made this year.

Merica And yes you can grill, but there are going to be times where it will be so fucking hot out that you're just not going to want to deal with standing/sitting next to a hot grill, so don't plan all of your meals to be that way. I recommend some pre-made sandwiches in zip-locs and other easy pre-made stuff like that. Think we've planned for 2-3 good cooked meals each year and ended up having at least all the stuff for one of those meals left over.

Jet boil/hiking stoves are the easiest/best in terms of space and efficiency.

Honestly we just planned on mostly buying food there. Have they gouged the shit out of the prices?

The last time I was there, it was too hot to even try to keep food cold for multiple days just using a cooler. That's why we just planned on buying food from vendors.

Just depends on what you're getting. Food truck Oasis is good but a little pricier. There's so many options everywhere that if you take your time and sort of see what people are walking away with you can see what is worth the price. $2 grilled cheeses out on shakedown (straight out from the arch).

I am. For the record there's no way in hell my wife would do it in any other circumstance. She got a free media pass and has to work somewhat while we're there.

How are the tents set up? Do you basically get an extra long parking space and you put your tent in front/behind your car? Or are they wider and you put your tent next to your car? :idk: It's been 12 years since I've been and kinda forgot.

    :beerchug: Good deal.

So is this a setup that I might be able to pull off? I just can't think of another way to setup a "porch" or staging area before I enter the tent. I want to put a tarp on the ground and then a "roof" with another tarp.

Or is the tent gonna need to be beside the car? If that's the case I guess I can do the same setup. :idk:

As soon as you get out of your car throw your stuff anywhere you want the land. It's basically who has stuff there first gets it. Your tent can go in front or back of your car.
