My adipowers came in the mail today. They feel just a tad loose, I got size 10s as I normally wear size 10.5

Really don't want to send them back so I'm gonna try them out tomorrow. Did buy some thicker socks just now as I normally wear super thin ones.

Maybe they just feel a little off since I'm not used to the raised heel.

Did we lose our other thread?

I wear in 10.5 in regular shoes, but bought the AdiPowers in 10... fit great. One thing I'm a bit disappointed in is the tongue quality (it's fraying at the top)

Definitely not. Romaleos are at least as good as AdiPowers. A few guys in the thread have them.

I'm team romaleos. I have big wide feet so most people said the adi's would be too narrow. Love my romaleos.

21 Indian weightlifters got popped for steroids. 2 Albanians got a 2 year and 8 year ban for positive tests at Worlds. Eric Lilibridge squatted over 1,000 lbs in prep. Trying to think of other cool shit that's happened since we've been gone.

For the most part, but having to fit PT into my schedule is screwing up my availability to get to the gym. It was also tough to brace my legs on bench for a while, but it didn't feel too bad yesterday. Same with anything that required me to put pressure on my knee, so I've been doing mostly accessory stuff.

It can definitely be an awful combo on your back it you don't take enough care of yourself

Ice/Advil when it hurts and make sure to stretch your back a bunch before hitting the golf course

I think a deload week is in order. I've been hitting Candito's linear program with maximum effort for 6 weeks. My hips are feeling a bit beat up. Weights are steadily going up. Up to 240 on squats 3x6. Deadlifts I've been increasing according to the programming (5-10 lbs a week), but I can handle a bunch more it feels. Did deficits deads today 3x8 with 245 and it was easy.

On a bright note, I started going to the Childress Klein YMCA in uptown. To my complete and utter joy/astonishment, they have this:

Not sure if i mentioned in the old thread that I recently discovered that I have a torn labrum in my shoulder. Continued lifting and got another MRI just to attempt to see why it's just now acting up (Ortho said he thinks it's an old injury). Second MRI suggests the tear is getting worse. Doctor says surgery. I'm currently trying to get in to see one of the Orthos who works with the Baltimore Orioles so I can see someone who deals with active populations and has a good feel for returning guys to play.

I am not happy. I am still lifting in the meantime. Less load, less volume but I'm still fucking kicking.

Yeah I'm just worried that I haven't done much in the way of lifting since Friday and I'm still feeling sore waking up each morning, I don't know what to do to get my back straightened out again.

I've had a lower back issue for a few weeks. It was really minor pain like maybe a 2. I just kept lifting because I'm an idiot and I can't stop.

What exercises were you doing? Squats?

Did you just overwork your back or did you notice an actual injury?

Yeah, as part of stronglifts 5x5. But I didn't have any one point that I thought I recognized an injury, which leads me to believe it could be overuse coupled with me playing golf with all this nice weather.. I'm just not sure how long it would take to realistically get back to normal with something like that.

Depending on your age and shape, it could take any time from a week to a month before your back is really ready to go heavy again

Make sure to take care of it and be 100% positive that it is good to go before you squat again

This is coming from a guy who pressed his luck going heavy on squat/dlift too many times with a sore back. Now I'm dealing with a degenerative disk and trying to workout while avoiding my forecasted disk replacement surgery around by 40

Last week a fitness trainer at my gym gave me a bioelectric impedance body composition test. Test came back saying that I'm borderline overweight and borderline overfat. Between the whiskey, coffee, and hydrochlorothiazide, my hydration levels mimic those of a fatty. Trainer and I shared a good laugh over the readout: "You are carrying 38.4 lbs. of fat" Yeah, where?

I feel for you, I know first hand how that goes. Hurt my shoulder freshmen year of high school playing football. Played all four years of high school just dealing with the pain. Saw a couple PT's and that would help a bit but my shoulder was never right. I would just push through the pain until about junior year of college. I was bench pressing and just pop, it was done. Went to the doctor and got a MRI and I had torn my labrum. Had been partially torn for years but for whatever reason it decided it was done.

The surgery and pain itself aren't bad at all but fuck having your arm in a sling for months. Then when you finally get cleared you are basically starting over because you have no strength in that arm/shoulder. Took me probably a good year to start to feel somewhat confident with lifting and using that shoulder.

Not trying to be a downer but just sharing my experience with something similar.

week 2 of craig capurso's 30 days out. 30 second rest between sets sucks so bad. leg day we decided to sub in DL for Leg Press. 225 10x3 with practically no rest inbetween. then immediately go to 6x5 front squats. by the end of these two nightmares I was completely drenched in sweat.

    and fuck Tabata everything.

    I'm here, too, fuckyouverymuch.

You can lift. There are ways if you really want to.

I bruised a rib at rugby practice last week. I took a day off and then spent the weekend driving a U-Haul 300 miles across the bumpy, unmaintained roads or northern Wisconsin and helping my inlaws move a gun safe and some of the world's largest furniture into their retirement home. It sucked.

I tried deadlifting on Monday. The rib still hurt, but yolo and stuff. I hit 455 pretty easily but when I put on 505 it felt like my rib was going to pop out of my chest and run away. That caused me to go to the doc and get x-rays. Jokes on me, because el rib-o is el broken-o. I'm under 'strict orders' of no lifting for 3 weeks, so that means no deadlifting* and definitely no stones or OHP of any kind.

*I have determined that anything under 315 is not technically a deadlift, so I should be able to just stick to high rep shit for a few weeks.

I appreciate the insight. I know I'd be looking at 3+ months until I'm lifting again, depending on how things go so that's why I'm going to try like hell to just get as strong as possible, intelligently, to keep from having surgery. I haven't had any issues with it popping out just yet but that's almost definitely how it happened to begin with.

it may not work out but I figure if you can get by without an ACL due to quad/hamstring/calf strength stabilizing the joint, I might be able to just bulletproof my shoulder to help keep things in place. I've already been told that he thinks surgery is my best bet so I don't think it can get too much worse.

I've had a pain in my shoulder for years, I've always suspected it being some type of tear that won't heal. We used to play 11 man flag football where the lineman would still go at it like it was tackle. Noone else wanted to play center so I started snapping. Some big sumbitch who used to play Div IAA ball as a DE started shooting the gap and my only response was to hit him with my snapping shoulder every time to slow him down. It is now hard to throw a football more than 15 yards and that has been probably about 3-4 years.

That is how my shoulder was. Used to kind of pop out every now and then. Still even after having surgery have to be careful with things that get my arm away from my body, like throwing a football. A couple of years ago I was incline benching 80# dumbbells when I got my arm a little too far out. Shoulder popped, lost all strength and dumbbell came crashing down on me. Was helluva embarrassed but fortunately wasn't hurt.

More like "TMB I'm hurt and not weightlifting thread".

Just went and picked up a second bar and set of weights today for my garage gym. I was finally able to pull everything I had (280)x5 last time I lifted. Doing SS even though I'm probably older than it was intended for.
