My gf got me tickets to this show in Feb for my bday, I'm pumped http://acl-live.com/calendar/jason-isbell-night-one
Wife got us tickets to see him in Charlotte in March. I'm really psyched. I am late as hell to the Isbell party, but better late than never. Just started listening to him after I heard him interviewed on NPR a couple of months ago. My god can that man write a song. Just spectacular.
Acoustically, that will be awesome but it's unfortunate that there's nothing cool within walking distance to do beforehand/afterward.

From Isbell's interview article linked from that one. On making bad music. "Some things you have to refuse not because of other people's image of you, but because it will gradually erode you..."
Not sure where else to post this, but Dawes is playing Tuckfest. Free concert at the US National Whitewater Center here in Charlotte NC. Jason, Trombone Shorty, and JJ Grey & Mofro played it last year. Waiting for the rest of the lineup, but if you haven't been to the USNWC before it'd be a good time to come check it out.
It's an amazing place to have 15 minutes away. When it doesn't get dark at 5PM I go up there like 4 times a week. Only $200 for a season pass.

Yeah I'm friends with those guys. Three of the members were in a different band before they swapped the other two members, used to practice in my house. Stopped practicing in my living room and got the storage unit on atlas road and then changed the name. Good dudes, awesome shows
They play right before DBT on the main stage for St. Pats. I might go to savannah but I really like the lineup for columbia
I'll be in Columbia for that. Also, heading to Athens Valentine's weekend for DBTs. And then Isbell in Charlotte in March #blessed
I've got tickets for Thursday and Friday DBT in Athens. Still trying to scrounge up a Saturday ticket somehow.
We got Sat. tickets. Got a text that read "DBTs Saturday the 13th in Athens, you in?" So here we are, ha
FYI, unfortunately Dawes got announced for Sunday night. I believe St. Paul & The Broken Bones is Friday but they took off the Friday and Saturday lineups for some reason.
Some DBT mentions in this write up: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/n...-guitarists-cozy-mexican-fest-20160129?page=6
DBT already recorded a new album? Is this old news? http://flagpole.com/music/music-fea...ey-on-the-drive-by-truckers-legacy-and-future Rather than the live record putting pressure on the band to deliver another knockout studio release, Cooley says it’s a relief simply to celebrate a milestone. “It serves as closure on however many eras the live record represents. I was already in pursuit of songs that are going to wind up on the next album,” he says. In fact, following a run of shows last fall, the band booked time in a Nashville studio with Barbe to spontaneously capture their progress on a batch of new material. “Initially, we weren’t going to lay down the whole album. I wanted to record what we had and go somewhere else,” says Cooley. “We had three days, and we recorded nine songs. So I said, ‘I think we have an album here.’” Although Cooley says the album will likely be mixed at Chase Park Transduction with Barbe at the helm, the forthcoming release will be the band’s first not recorded in Athens since Southern Rock Opera.
