Mini Boom drew a family portrait today at school. Left to right, it had me, him, Mrs. Boom and Mini Boomette. When I asked him why he was next to me, he looked at me like I was a fool for asking that question and said, "because you're my best friend."
The DustBall dropped a deuce in the poddy for the first time. One week after his 2nd bday. He's peed in there a couple times but this was his first turd. Made him stand and admire his work for a couple minutes before we flushed it.
Son mowed 2 lawns tonight, he was beat Ours tomorrow and another on Saturday Also found out he will have another so five total for the summer plus mulching Kids gonna have more cash then I have
My dad used to.always tell me "you have more money then i do" I never believed him. Now as an adult, i do
So the little one in my pic is just doing what the older one does. Today...wife was gone to work already. Little one had climbed into older ones bed and was standing on the foot board, balancing. Older was at the the head of the bed. I walk in and older one goes: "Watch this daddy. Briggs...ready....one...two..three" On three, Briggs jumps off foot board and Brooks jumps at Briggs...smoking him in the air. Huge collision, both fall to the bed laughing. Briggs rolls off bed, lands on his feet, and goes to climb up the foot board again. This was definitely a "Dont tell mom" moment.
Boy bought a new distortion pedal last night, between that and the amp he is shaking the house. Hells bells at full blast
There are little kids at the park playing spaceship. One kid gave his little brother the code name Linda and everybody is calling him Linda.
My daughter is basically the same age and is doing exactly that. The part that concerns me is all the hardwood flooring in my house, when she falls. Part of me is contemplating buying her a helmet.
Buy big play mats and the plastic click together fencing. Make her a cage/play area. Do NOT buy the play mats with letters and numbers in them - they add nothing educationally and are a huge pain. Just get the big play mats off Amazon. We had all hardwood and the cage was awesome.
My wife and I were discussing that last night and we'll probably do exactly that. We tried some mats under the rug in the living room and she would just find a way to bounce her head just right off the mat, so cage sounds like a winner lol
This past weekend we had (in order): Hockey lessons Dance lessons Cub scout cookout Cub scout trip to the Geology Museum Church fundraiser Nephew first communion and brunch Baseball game Soccer Game Neighborhood cookout Thank God I have the work week to recover.
Daughter #3 born last Thursday. Thankfully the ages are spread enough to never have 3 teenage daughters at once. Almost 8, 5, newborn.
So have any of you dads ever put in an in-ground trampoline? Wife is pining for one for the daughters. If so: thoughts, pros/cons, cost (if you had someone else do it)?
Seems like a lot of digging - and half the fun of jumping on a trampoline when I was a kid was trying not to die (or bloody a nose). We didn't have nets - barely had the mat covering the springs.
Also jumping off the roof onto the trampoline was a blast. If it was ground level that might be even more fun? Definetely increases the chance you'll make an emergency room visit.
We couldn't put it next to the room - but you better believe I put it under a tree and would jump down . I need to figure out the science behind the elusive double bounce.
First T-Ball practice tonight. He's the only lefty on his team. Last year I had him switch hit, this year I think we'll focus on lefty.
Anyone have any experience with this fenced in play yard? http://www.amazon.com/ProSource-bab..._75_img_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0EFX0QZW0G5EGCS3Q85R also, need recommendations on a play mat -- heard the lock together ones suck?
My oldest throws/writes righty; bats/golfs/kicks lefty. He's also a normal-footed snowboarder so I think he's just confused.
He throws a little better with his right hand, but catches the ball much better with the glove on his right hand, so we're going to see how he does as a lefty this spring.
Yes, that's the "baby cage" I recommended a short time ago in this thread. We had one of those and a play mat in our living room and it kept the boy out of trouble for a while. I like the bigger locking mats. You need the lockable ones because you can't store them otherwise. We had a some solid color 2' x 2' interlocking mats and they were pretty nice. Do not get the ones with letters or numbers of shapes that are their own pieces. Those are fucking nightmare. Somebody gave us a set of those as well and they end up being taken apart by the kid long before they learn anything from them.
So up until this point my only experience with hoolahooping has been watching Remy Lacroix videos. My ex wife got my daughter a hoolahoop yesterday. My brain won't stop screaming.
So the 4 month sleep regression has continued to the 5.5 month sleep regression. He has wanted to eat every ~2-3 throughout the night for the awhile now. He'll go right back to sleep after a bottle but he wants to eat at the same clip that he does during the afternoon. He also has learned to flip onto his stomach while sleeping which he likes a lot more but makes my wife more nervous.
From terrible experience, you guys better sleep train again before it becomes the 11 month sleep regression. He doesn't need a bottle, but he wants one. You need to break him of the expectation that he'll get one. Also, once they can roll themselves over to get onto their stomach, they're fine on their stomach.
Our week looks like, We got to the point where we said sorry you can't do x because you have y, or make a choice on what you would rather do
Taylor is correct.... but also if he's rolling in the crib make sure you don't have pillows, fluffly crib bumpers, stuff that will smother a baby.
I haven't been in here in a while, but have the daddy finger daddy finger where are you? Youtube videos been discussed yet? What the fuck?! My two year old is obsessed with them. Some of them are fucking weird and we're probably going to need to bump the data plan.
Put him to bed on his back but let him roll to his stomach. It's fine. Once they can roll by themselves you don't have to worry as much about it. fwiw-this is a good day. They sleep better on their stomach. They just have to get there by themselves.
Yeah, we told my 9 year old that he couldn't play baseball in the spring because he's playing travel soccer and that's fall & spring (and he's not willing to give up swimming or cub scouts). So he said "fine, I quit soccer" (but I'd already paid for spring soccer). That was a fun fight.
Son got paid for the lawns and mulch from the neighbors today, he made $170 this week.... now he really has more cash then I do. He wanted to buy a new guitar, it is $350 From what he saved, lawns, birthday and Christmas he has $1200 in his wallet... we counted it, I had no idea he had that much. Guess he is getting another guitar.
Switching the kids' daycare. For Mini Boom in VPK (which half the day is free) and Mini Boomette in the infant room, it's going to be $500 a week. Fuck everything.
Ended up taking my daughter to the ER for the first time yesterday. Wife texted me saying she was wheezing and looking uncomfortable. Word was she might be showing the early signs of croup, but it was awful hearing her scream as I had to hold her down for X-rays. It was awful and my eyes watered a little. Children's Mercy is a good ass hospital at least.
Mini Boomette's baby acne is crazy bad right now. Cradle cap, too. My son had it bad, but hers is like an entirely new level.
So dad, you know how you said you would help with that guitar I wanted? How much do you think that would be?
My wife got pulled over this morning going 20 over on the way to preschool. The boy was in his carseat, and when the cop got to the rolled down window the boy asked him, "Mama bad guy?" The cop laughed, explained mama wasn't a bad guy, just driving too fast, and let my wife off with a warning. Besides being hilarious, the boy probably saved me like $1000 over the next year in insurance premiums. He's a good boy.
Had to take my 16mo daughter to the ER for the first time last night. holy shit it was awful. The shot they gave her stung so she was a screaming fool. They had 3 assistants to come in to hold her down while giving the shot and my daughter is only 21 pounds. It sucked.
