bet Sabonis will be gone by 12 would have rather had one of those proposed deals with Philly. Not a draft I want to have mid-1sts. Maybe we can flip our picks for a proven wing. Oh well, the Schroeder era has me nervous but excited.
I'm not the world's biggest Schroeder fan and he makes some really dumb plays. But I think it made far more sense to move Teague than to move Schroeder. A lot of talk on twitter saying the Hawks probably aren't done pre-draft. Flipping 12 and 21 for a proven wing would be my preference, operating under the assumption that Sabonis is gone.
Think I'd have rather had Noel and Covington over 12. Interesting to see what Bud does. Do we max Al?
Talk is that everyone from 3-8 is trying to move down, so it's possible. If that's the plan I think we'll hear soon.
Don't think there is really any doubt we make the offer tbh. Question is does Al turndown boatload of cash to move to a more legit contender (GSW) or popular market....and if so, what kind of sign&trade are we looking at? Personally I think Al signs with us. Just announced their 2nd child. Has 2 houses here, 1 for his Mom. Seems like his wife likes it here.
Bazemore out doing community service with the team today. Hope to god we don't overpay for him. Love the guy but he got exploited defensively against premier teams.
Agree with this, the sign and trade to GSW would have to involve a 3rd team, they don't have much we'd want that they could part with To your last point. Surprised ATL isn't a better FA destination with as much as players love to live here
I'm a huge Bazemore fan but agree that someone will overpay him. We also need to face the fact that the team needs upgrades to compete for a championship rather than just a playoff spot. Letting him walk and bringing in an all-star quality wing would be the easiest way to do that. Korver's age worries me too. Could see us bringing in another pure shooter in the draft if we think Kahl's end is near and we can address the wing need elsewhere.
yea thats always been the million $ question. They live and party here but for whatever reason, in all sports, its not a destination. Hopefully the new facility & co-op with the P3 group in Brookhaven will be a big selling point. Also, TNT and NBA TV studios gives players essentially media internships whenever they want.
supposedly the trade will be delayed for a little while and we will be getting Shelvin Mack back from Utah per twitter rumor
I follow like all the current and former writers. Hell I even twitter searched Mack and dont see it anywhere.
this guy writes for Peachtree Hoops. Its the Atlanta Hawks site for SB Nation. You should follow him and Peachtree Hoops. hawks fanatic @atlhawksfanatic 31m31 minutes ago hawks fanatic Retweeted Danny Leroux RE: Mack, Atlanta can't reacquire him until July. This might explain the delay in official announcement https://twitter.com/DannyLeroux/status/745687989343260673
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine ESPN sources say that the Hawks are now shopping both No. 12 and No. 21 in tomorrow night's draft
Nate DuncanVerified account@NateDuncanNBA The Hawks will now have max cap space for 7-9 year experience level even with Horford cap hold. Also deal likely not official til July Jonathan Givony@DraftExpress NBA teams I talk to are expecting Atlanta to target one of the many big men available at #12. Poeltl, Deyonta Davis, Sabonis being mentioned also think Ellenson could be in play
We simply have to get better through the draft. Happy with the Teague deal, but would have liked someone from Philly. It it were me, I'd sign a true max deal player (even horford) and trade everyone and start over. A 2017 lottery pick would be really nice.
What are people's thoughts on reuniting Noah with Al? I personally like it but I'm not sure what Noah is going to be demanding in free agency.
Would love it. He's tenacious and isn't going to eat into Al's shot numbers. We need a big who can guard other bigs well and is mobile to help with our offense. I think he's a great fit.
Between he and Splitter we could cobble together a productive full season. I'm just looking at the FA list and I don't see a ton of guys who are both realistic and could contribute. Parsons is another FA I like but I'm not sure he's worth the max he'll likely command, and I think he sticks with Dallas. Edit: I didn't even realize Parsons went to Florida until I googled him right after posting this. Guess I just want us to be all UF guys. Fuck it, hire Donovan.
rumor is that scouts think he is 23 draft express guy saidhe hasnt developed physically the past 4 years (ages 15-19 allegedly)
Thon is a disaster and I don't want any piece of him. My dream draft is Sabonis/Poetl at 12, Valentine at 21, Brogdon (homer pick, actually hope he goes to the Warriors or Spurs) and an int'l prospect in the second. There's a reasonable chance one of those guys is available at 12. Valentine is probably a dream but not impossible.
I would not mind if we went Malik Beasley at 12. But I am fully expecting us to move our pick(s) pre or post draft.
Dennis SchröderVerified account@DennisMike93 CAN'T DESCRIBE THIS FEELING !! I EARNED COACH TRUST & I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT OPPURTUNITY !!! ATL HAWKS #CoachBud
i wouldnt mind packaging our 12 + next year's 1 for a legit vet out there under contract for a few more years
if we could trade up somehow to get buddy hield i would like that but we would probably have to give up too much to get him
I would love Hield. I think his game will translate well. I would love to sign Ibaka in FA. I think he would blossom in our system.
The problem with trading up in the draft is that 3-8 are so fluid that you basically have to move up to 3 unless you have a deal in place with someone where you say "If Hield falls to you we'll trade." And saying that kind of shows your cards. Celts know this and it's the only leverage they have at this point.
Vivlamore on 92.9. Not sure how much he actually knows b/c he acted like Derozan would be a great fit for Bud Ball. - team is infatuated with Buddy Hield. Eyed him last year but he pulled out. - team wants to sign Bazemore. Willing to pay up somewhat. (sounds like we will overpay)
NBADraft.net@nbadraftnet Unless someone unexpected falls, hearing ATL pick at 12 comes down to Malik Beasley (likely) or Timothe Luwawu. No.
UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so we might TRADE both picks to clear space http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/r...-first-rounders-for-space-to-re-sign-horford/
Not a fan of that. Unless he promises to rebound more and become a consistent threat in the playoffs. Great guy though.
yea the plan was always to give Al a max deal imo issue was clearing space to max out another player (we are like $3m shy of that)
