This site has really become a fantastic source of entertainment as of late. People bitch about everything and each other. I'll try and share some of my favorites from the last month or two.
Someone asked what was going in behind the Walgreens and about 10 people correctly answered "apartments". That was followed up by lovely Joyce who responded "hopefully not a mosque" and then of course everyone was up in arms. A week later she chimed in with: Joyce Thompson from Westbrook · 2d ago It's obvious you do not understand what is happening to San Antonio and the illegals that have been shipped here from Syria ......Dallas and other large cities in Texas .... Obama hates us ! therefore will do anything to destroy our state Bc the democrats need the Texas vote soooooo we ship in illegals and the such to dilute the vote ....give them free stuff Like your welfare checks and they vote democrat ...yes I love my neighbors and try not to judge Others religions but when that religion preaches death to America secretly behind its doors then it is time for them to go back home ......don't take my welfare money and use medical facilities I cannot afford for a Katrina victim who is a citizen and makes 100.00 too much for welfare .......she is a citizen and being tossed aside. My God is also being tossed out with their trash .....example our children cannot pray at school but we must provide a place for their children to pray to Allah .....don't speak that prayer at football games or graduation either ........ Is that fair I ask you? ... You need to go shop at the HEB on Wurzbach and then see if you want to continue to duck your head and pretend nothing is wrong.... be certain not to accidentally bump into any men in long looking pajamas … You will be screamed at in another language and then told that he is a God and you cannot touch him him ...... This my friend happen to a daughter of a friend ....police had to be called ........Google new mosque in San Antonio .....!1604. I do not speak hate but truth. You have a blessed day
This was written by Dell, who is a female: Adrianne it's too many of the residents here as well that speed through the neighborhood. A couple of weeks ago as I was entering the subdivision, a neighbor who I am not familiar with in a black BMW SUV was in such a hurry they went around me to get in the entrance. Day time - gate open. I was driving 20 in preparation for entering RRR. I followed her (5'6" ish, black hair, slim/athletic build) to the mail boxes in front of Jacquie's house. This is the first set on the right on the entrance road. I stopped and tapped my horn to get her attention. She ignored me. Tapped horn. She ignored me. Tapped horn. She ignored me. Got out of my vehicle and called, "Mam, mam, mam." She ignored me. I started to approach her and she finally had no choice but to face me and get in her vehicle whereupon I told her she was speeding and needed to slow down. She was very nasty and said she was not. And took off. I followed her and once we were around the corner she flagged me down so I stopped and she proceeded to tell me she was not speeding and to basically leave her alone in a very ugly way. I then told her I had her license number and would be reporting her (did no good) and she said she would report me too. She was doing no less than 35 and did not even care. So, neighbors speed through here at least as much as workers if not more. I am giving a detailed description so that her neighbors might suggest she slow down as I was unable to find where she lived.
We had a guy on our nextdoor threatening to mace any dog that was left off its leash and came through our neighborhood.
Thankfully ours is pretty boring. Which is good, because I feel like that indicates that we have cool neighbors. Ours is just requests for contractor recommendations, reports of lost/found dogs, and people trying to unload OSU tickets.
I did read this interesting article about Nextdoor recently though http://fusion.net/story/340171/how-nextdoor-reduced-racial-profiling/
My old neighborhood had this one guy who may have been the gubbs, he'd post these ramblings that no one really understood. Had a few crazy people, few racists, the normal stuff. My new neighborhood doesn't have one yet, but looking forward to it. It really is helpful to have, it just also brings out the crazies. Also lechnerd your posts have links to you neighborhood - if you care. (Very nice area, btw)
Black 13 y/o riding a bike slowly down the street. Bike was too big for him. Been urban for long enough to know he was up to no good. ....spoiler alert. Was the Neighborhoods most active residents step son on a BMX bike looking for Pokémon.
I'm the first one in my neighborhood on there, so just the one crazy person in the neighborhood on there
These people caused quiet an uproar in my neighborhood. Moved 2ft from multiple bars in one of the busiest parts of Atlanta and called the cops on a bar that has been there forever.
mine is mostly old ladies afraid of mexicans driving by their house or people bitching about cats and dogs not being spayed, but every once in awhile we get a gem like this
I remember people complaining about that. If anyone threatens MJQ I'll rip their throats out. I was pleased to see the backlash to their comments though.
We have a rule in our neighborhood that nobody can park in the street. One house continuously violates the rule but to their credit the entrance to their driveway is only one car wide because a tree prevented the builder from making it bigger. They have a family with two teenagers who drive and I guess this guy had enough of them parking in the street: John Himes from River Rock Ranch · 21 Aug Terry.. Perhaps you would like a few moments to regain your lucidity. Are you not burdened by the resident with no consideration for his nieghbor 5 houses up from the entrence that leaves his cars parked the wrong way on a blind corner? As a finger in the air to all the residents as he will not follow the rules as the have no teeth and can't be Inforced with fines. Or possibly tired of making payments on a vette, ctsv, and Sierra hoping some heighbor totals it!! Fact is there are many respectful people here your nieghbor but a few self entitled try to relive their high school days. The neighbor's response: John I traded the corvette in so you don't have to worry about my current financial situation any longer. My car is only ever on the street because when my wife needs to leave and it's behind her she has to back it out. Our driveway narrows because of the tree unlike everyone else. I have lived here for 6 years without someone bad mouthing me and saying I am trying to relive high school. I guess I was due? Last guy I talked to in our neighborhood was about cars but it was simply because we were both car people and liked cars. Thanks though for your thoughts. I don't flip people the bird btw literally or figuratively and I don't talk down about people. When someone's house burnt down I donated to them. Left them an envelope on their front door. That's how horrible we are.
Never heard of this thing or site until now. Checked it out and there are 67 others in my "neighborhood" who are signed up. I checked the posts but nothing good. Mostly people saying they have a room for rent or looking for a lawn service or selling a couch. Seems dumb.
Wait....I did just find a post from a guy who needs an Uber driver to pick him up to go to the airport on Friday afternoon. I wonder if there is another app that might work better for him?
This is typically what I see: Do you think it is okay to park your car in front of your neighbors house and never move it? And if some one ask you to move your car because it has been parked there for several days . Possibly park in front of their own house! I take pride in my neighborhood and it upsets me when people have several cars and trailers and motorhomes Taking up guest parking and making it unable for the street sweepers to Clean the streets ? All I ask is to park your cars in front of your own house .
So glad I live out in a secluded area and don't have to deal with a bunch of retards in a neighborhood
Some aren't bad. My parents live in one and it's only purpose is to handle hiring people to take care of lawn maintenance and snow removal.
Any idea why there's a helicopter circling around Santa Ana ave & Mesa? Anyone know why people have to post every time they spot that damn thing? I just saw a helicopter take off from John wayne, anyone know where it's going ?
The only bitching I have seen on ours is about this guy in the neighborhood next to ours that parks is gigantic boat in front of his house. And the guy isn't even on Nextdoor. Gotta say, I'd be fucking pissed if I lived on his street. I'll take a picture of the boat tomorrow
we did also have a george zimmerman wannabe guy a while back who wanted to put together an armed neighborhood watch to patrol the neighborhood after dark. (this was a result of someones car being broken into)
ours is boring people sharing produce, asking for pet sitters/housekeepers, mourning the death of a deer that got hit on the main road your typical Oregon stuff
mine is mostly people looking for housecleaners and people offering to clean houses in seperate threads i always wonder if they ever get matched
Mines borin. However, we did have a neighbor to go around with a petition a couple of weeks ago trying to get the people who live directly behind me to have their dog be quiet. I have literally never even thought twice about their dog barking and it's closer to me than anyone else. This person lives across the street and 2 doors down. When she got to my house there were at least 6 signatures. I didn't sign her petition.
TBH this annoys the fuck outta me. I have a neighbor that has a driveway, never parks in it and always parks her two cars in front of my house.
This lady is a grade A cunt too. Recently she put up a flood light that shines directly into our bedroom window. When I confronted her about it she said that there is nothing she can do about it and that if it bothers me so much while I try to sleep I should "invest in a good eye mask because it's not coming down". It's fucking coming down.
Mine is 90% people asking for contractors or service recommendations and 10% people reporting suspicious activity. Saw this today. "Today, a black young woman and a young black man came to our house and knocked the door, asking for the home owner. Then the woman preceded by asking my wife if she was going to open the door to talk to them. When my wife said no, they walked down to the drive way and out of no where, a dark Gray SUV came and they both got into the car and left. the woman was wearing a white shirt and a black pant. The young man was dressed in black dress shirt with a red tie and black pant."
this is all from when someone went on a code violation reporting spree in our neighborhood and turned in a bunch of people with lawns that weren't "in code" (they were all more than acceptable and I'm picky about lawns) (the gazebo is a public area maintained by the neighborhood)
we have an old guy named Lou who has appointed himself the "safety officer" of our neighborhood and basically thinks he's a cop so there's all sorts of great stuff wrt to him this is from when he called the cops for a special patrol because a lady was hosting a ladies night with like five other grown women
