A sequel (Red Dead Redemption 2) has always been in the cards and now it seems an announcement is going to happen during E3 this year. Rumor mills have been abuzz for quite some time suggesting a new edition of the hit open world wild west themed franchise is in development, but things have gotten quite interesting lately. RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 IN DEVELOPMENT? Fraghero received an email from a reader who wishes to remain anonymous claiming that the game has been in development for over 4 years and is in fact called Red Dead Redemption 2 : Legends Of The West. He also claimed that the game will be coming out in the fall of 2017 and Rockstar Games is going to announce it during E3 (which takes place in June) this year. He informed us that the game is going to contain more than one playable character and feature a much bigger open world than the last Red Dead title. Our source claims to have acquired this information from an ex-Rockstar Games employee and has also informed us that a HD remake of the original Red Dead Redemption is in development for next-gen consoles and will be releasing by end of this year. It is to be noted that Fraghero cannot independently verify any of this information and all of it should be taken with a grain of salt. We’ve also conducted our own research about the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption announcement at E3 and things do seem to add up. For starters, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, had previously confirmed that Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto franchises are permanent. I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It’s obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others Another interesting fact was a comment made by Danny Ross in an AMA request thread on Reddit. Danny, many believe is an ex-employee of Rockstar Games and worked for Opie & Anthony at that time. To a question asking if he knew anything about what Rockstar was working on next, Danny had the following to say “Really? Dumbass. Really? Two.” Now, it won’t take Sherlock Holmes to figure this one out. If you take the first letter from every word he wrote, it adds up to RDR 2 which can be the short form for Red Dead Redemption 2. We know, clutching at straws, but you neverknow. If you take everything into consideration, it suggests that Red Dead Redemption 2 might indeed be in development and if our anonymous tipster is to be taken seriously, we’re going to have our first look at the game during E3 this year.
I was really wondering what could possibly be showcased at e3 this year that would have an impact. Seems like everything from the past couple of years has came to fruition and this year's e3 should be mostly new news. RDR2 us about as good a news as I could hope for
I cant remember if it was the dude, horse, or both but something with the controls reaply turned me off. I would definitely try out a sequel.
The best thing about RDR was finding the sniper rifle on the online version of the game. One of my favorite things to do was troll guys playing in other missions against computer players by just getting on some sort of high ground nearby and just sniping the shit out of them.
I remember when Stylee and Wendel Clark pissed me off one day while I was trying to get my bounty up. Fuck you fuckers
I killed some poor bastard like 5 times in a row until he finally abandoned the mission and tried to come after me. Except, I had a sniper rifle...and he didn't. He never got close. I must have killed that dude 20 times before he quit.
Is there one game not named Destiny that you've ever enjoyed? Not liking rdr is like not liking half life or bioshock. Rdr was one of the GOAT
It is one of the most beautiful games out there. Current consoles included. It's the best of what GTA is, set in the West, with a story that you can actually get behind.
Yes, but i'm pretty sure i've mentioned how much I dislike rockstar before. Also, i wasnt big on the original half life. Everything happens at Black Mesa and thats boring. Give me something, anything else. Except an airboat.
audrew Would Lonesome Dove have been better if Gus survived? That's what I loved about the story. We needed Marston to die. He wasn't a hero at all. It would have felt incomplete if he didn't.
Also, I don't feel bad about spoilers, because you shouldn't be in this thread if you didn't play RDR.
never played online that much but single player was amazing. Odin i totally get the mechanics being a turn off though. on foot was definitely clunky when you weren't in a mission or a civilized area excited to see the jump in graphics, RDR 1 came out early in the 360/PS3 era. bet we play as a civil war vet, a farmhand, and a native american
Yeah its comical to me when people try to say gta 5 or san andreas is rockstars best work. Its RDR and its not a fuckin argument
Did anyone play Red Dead Revolver? I didn't. Redemption was so damn good though. May play it again just for shits and giggles.
It was the GOAT, until they release 2 expansions with promises of a 3rd, then just leave the story untouched for a fucking decade.
Oh trust me, no human on earth ignites more rage inside of me than that fat fucking twat at valve. I NEED TO GO SAVE ALEX YOU FUCK
Yup. My all time favorite game, incredibly disappointed they left something like that hanging. All they needed to do was make the third expansion and finish the story, fuck them.
steam is one of the best inventions ever, and also one of the worst since it caused valve not to give a shit about making games anymore. also for the last several years i've seen this rumor or a similar one pop up before e3 each year talking about how there will be 3 protagonists in RDR2. it's always from some random sites that aren't your typical IGN's, Polygon's or Kotaku's. I'm not sure why this one gathered so much steam but I'm crossing my fingers that this year they are right. Also, it will be hard to top Marston.
so i read that sony pulled the red dead trailer because of the shooting in orlando. apparently the clip of red dead is of someone walkign into a saloon and shooting up the joint. they thought it was bad taste, so they're holding off for a bit.
Doesn't make that much sense to me. Red dead is a straight up western and with the amount of shooting and violent games at E3 that were showcased it's not much different that they would pull it. I doubt people would associate a Saloon in 1870 to pulse. Also that showcase was 2 days later, plenty of time to edit that clip out of trailer. They wouldn't sideline it just for that clip -- it's red dead. Plus some IGN guy basically said he didn't think the guy tweeting that rumor had any legitimacy.
