love it when things like this and the Coppy interview are posted in threads. I'd have never found this otherwise. All of the Hawks news also happened while I was out of the country, so this will be real helpful. Like given Fran Tarkenton
Zach Lowe@ZachLowe_NBA Why the Hawks Plan A involved trading Paul Millsap, where they looked, why they signed Dwight, where they go now: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/16834452/atlanta-hawks-had-great-plan-get-better-all-went-wrong not as bright of a take as Arnovitz fyi
It really just comes down to what you think of Dwight. There weren't many scenarios where the Hawks were going to get exponentially better this summer. Really the only one I can think of is Durant coming here which was never going to happen. As small a chance as it is, Dwight gives us a chance of being better than we were last year. If he sucks, blow it up next summer, let Millsap walk, and see where we are in 5 years.
Lang Whitaker @langwhitaker Pretty awesome to see Bazemore choking up during this press conference. "I play for you guys every night, wearing Atlanta across my chest." KL Chouinard@KLChouinard Dwight gets choked up talking about his family, then jokes, "There's going to be some memes."
Like the Jack signing. I know he is coming off an injury, but I hated him when we played the Nets in the playoffs.
I hated the Howard signing but I'll embrace him until he gives us a reason not to. Love that he and Baze both genuinely seem to care about the city. That's important to where the franchise is right now.
Dwight in a Hawks jersey is still weird. I have convinced myself that the Hawks got better over the offseason, but Dwight on the team will take some time.
yea I think after free agency the media was saying 8th seed think 5th in East is showing Bud Ball respect
Pacers ahead of the Hawks with a new shitty coach and a guy the Hawks felt was not needed anymore? pfft Sorry dont see some huge dropoff from the Raptors and Celtics
I think this team is better than last year. Teague got traded for a reason, the depth of the team is much improved, and finally the Hawks will out rebound a team. I loved Al, but the superstar treatment he is getting for leaving Atlanta is annoying the fuck out of me.
I'm ok with it. Shows the FO has confidence in the player that he is and he could have gotten way more if he waited and had a big year.
Hopefully THJ is gonna be the new wing that explodes in year 2 of being a wing on the Hawks THJ and Thabo killed it tonight
THJ had 21 in 23 minutes. He led the +/- for both teams with a +23. I had high hopes for him this year, but I wasnt expecting that start
It would be great if THJ or someone could enter the starting lineup and we could have Korver coming off the bench.
It's definitely weird, but last night showed me what the thinking was behind bringing in Dwight. Definitely nice to not assume all of our misses are lost. Completely random thought I had last night, but I've been scared of Korver aging for a long time. He's such a big part of the offense. Realized last night that JJ Redick is 3 years younger and an UFA after this season. He's become one of my favorite personalities in the league and it would be awesome to have him.
I like this team. If Muscala, THJ, and the rest of the bench are gonna be this nice this team can win 50+. We dont even need Dwight to score right now.
Bummer we released Edy. He was always an intriguing piece and I was really hoping we could make something out of him.
Is Steve Coonan the coolest CEO in sports. I could listen to him shoot this shit with 92.9 the game for hours. he's awesome

As Brad Rowland pointed out on twitter, tough to know anything really after 3 games that we, by all accounts, were supposed to win. Encouraging start to the season but tough to draw any conclusions.
