Need to try DBA. We had dinner at Endive last night, and it was really good. The menu and beer selection are somewhat limited, but the food itself was great and it's a cool atmosphere. Cheap, too.
Endive is great. My friend took us there a few months back and I would've never found it without him even though it's only a couple of miles from my house.
Victory, Fred's, and El Super Pan are all great, but all in all, I feel like Atlanta is really lacking in the sandwich game.
Victory is a snack for me. If I was eating dinner there I would need to eat about 5 of them and I am not fat.
Could not agree more. There's no reason we shouldn't have a cheap deli-style sandwich counter. Your only sandwich options are really chain places or super-cunty $14 sandwiches. Breakfast sandwiches included.
Overrated is being kind. They dont smoke their ribs. The smoke stack is for show. That being said. I go there quite a bit. Quick. Real mac n cheese. Good lemonade. I forget who's said it. But, " there are two types of barbecue. Good BBQ. And great BBQ".
I've had two good meals there. Not Community/Fox Bros/Heirloom tier, but just under. DBA legit sucks. Fat Matt's boils their ribs, then puts them on the grill for smoke.
Literally nothing is smoked there. They're boiled. Grilled. Then they rest until an order comes in. Then they go back on the grill. Goodsauce though.
nah, its worth the visit. I hate crowds so I rarely go to Fox Bros, order take out if I have to have it.
Cuban at Thinking Man Tavern is best I've had outside of El Super Pan Twain's Waffle Thigh sandwich is absolutely amazing RIP smoked trout sandwich at Twain's
When I run I go by Thinking Man Tavern, I've wanted to check it out for the longest time. I drank and kicked my friends ass in shuffle board at Twains last night.
Thinking Man is legit - good food and good beer selection, never crowded. The service is pretty awful though for the most part.
I'll put Community's brisket and pork up against Fox B, I think FB edges them on the sides ever so slightly.
Always go by there as well. Need to stop in and check it out. I love Twain's though. Those white bbq wings!!!
impossible to order poorly at Twain's - and now that their beer is actually good it's so much easier to just go there all the damn time
Wouldn't ever suggest eating there, but barrel house in midtown has an amazingly bad Instagram account
I've enjoyed the Westside a lot lately. Does Decatur have a late night spot that I am missing? I feel like it dies early when I am out there.
I think Twains is low key my favorite bar in Atlanta. Good beers, just dive-y enough, plenty big, lots to do there but also plenty of tables, and always seems to be the appropriate amount crowded. Went last weekend and they had a bottle of Pappy.
Twains and Victory are good late night spots. I'm sure SOS is too. The rest get pretty quiet, but are fun spots to drink at without a lot of noise.
Thinking Man is usually my go to spot for a low key atmosphere with good beer and food selection. It's a different vibe than some other places (not loud, no riff raff permitted), and a place a former co-worker and I often meet up to chat.
if you go to SOS be prepared for the staff to make fun of you if you dont order from the menu. had an awful experience there.
haha we didn't get made fun of, I think they recognized us from victory. I'll keep that in mind next time I go.
It seems we go to U Joint and the Pullman more than anywhere else. So easy to sit down there on a Friday night after a long week. Had Twains this fall and reminded why I enjoy it so much. Like said above, kinda divey but no overly crowded which is a good combo for me.
Raging Burrito, Twains, UJoint are the 3 places we are most likely to be have been doing Marlay a lot recently too. they have been killing the beer selection lately.
GC BBQ at Krog is good. They have a location in Marietta and that's the only one I've had, but the brisket and mac'n'cheese are tops.
Was underwhelmed by GC in Krog. Their smoked chicken is incredibly weak, and the stuff isn't smoked on-site (to my knowledge), and it just falls flat compared to everything else around them.
If you want bbq for lunch after a belt line bike ride it will get the job done but it's definitely not something I'd seek out. We're actually heading to Ticonderoga Club tonight for dinner. I've had drinks there but not food so I'm looking forward to checking it out
In regards to flavor, pork and chicken require more seasoning whereas Brisket tastes good as long as you cook it right.
Ladybird open? Thinking of going Sunday for the game. Where's the easiest place to park? I've never been there other than before / after rathbuns
