Props to Neville for actually honoring his word to appear on Arsenal fan TV, still my favorite commentator even after the debacle in Spain. It is hilarious to see him set opposite DT, Claude, and Troopz.
Has this been reported by anyone but the rags yet? Only places I've seen it all day are the Mirror and Daily Mail.
That's just brutal. Win the league in one of the biggest cinderella stories of all time and get dropped less than a year later.
Not to mention getting them out of group stage in UCL with a decent chance of advancing to quarters with a 1-0 win in the return leg. Stupid.
that's misleading at best and perhaps not true. I believe Mancini was fired after the following season and Sir Alex retired.
I mean I get that this season has been a disappointment with them 1 point above the relegation zone but this is just a classic case of letting a little success go to their heads.
Have they announced at interim/is there favorites out on who's coming in? I'd make a play for de Boer
"departures have been announced before the end of the following season". he was let go after the FA Cup final there were still a couple league matches to play I realize the Sir Alex component is a little misleading, but still three of the last five managers couldn't survive another season.
Domestically, it has been a disappointment (although I don't think anyone is too surprised) but you'd think making it to the UCL quarters with a decent shot at advancing would've at least bought him the rest of the season.
If NFL teams had to battle relegation I think you would see far more firings. In the NFL you get rewarded for finishing last. In the EPL it costs you tens or even hundreds of millions.
I don't totally disagree, but as discussed we see tons of very successful managers being shitcanned who really weren't anywhere close to the relegation line.

You also have the champions league/Europa league tiers that place a big value on finishing 2-6. Imagine if only the top 20 teams in the NFL were eligible for the playoffs the following year. Those meaningless games between teams with 5-8 wins at the end would be crazy competitive
