I'm working on a project in John's Creek 2-3 days week for at least the next month. Really glad I left early today.
Don't even want to think about it. I'm about to start leaving work work by 6 am I think. Thank god for flexible hours.
WSB said that Birmingham had a collapse in 2002. Took 36 days to replace. Given their similar food scene....maybe thats an optimistic timeline for us.
While this won't reach the masses I'm pretty sure this should be the top liked comment ever. This is coming from a lifelong Falcons fan.
Work in the Lenox Mall area, maybe a half mile from this. Thankfully I'm able to commute with MARTA but jesus fucking christ, THE TRAFFIC.
My first thought on this development: the Braves deserve this. Congrats on even more traffic while your ballpark is empty you faggots In other news, I'll be returning to ATL for a long weekend in May for the first time since moving. Thankfully I don't plan on going north of Midtown
MARTA is scrapping the Red Line turn back indefinitely. Adding multiple train sets systemwide - service as often as 7 minutes. Putting out back-up train packs to deal with spring breakers plus the huge volleyball tournament. Blue Breeze cards are still off this weekend, so expect a shitton of staff out to help new riders. All single tracking is cancelled (obviously). Despite some serious pressure, MARTA will not be free. All I caught.
Fuck my tits, that reminds me that I need to change out my blue breeze card. What is the Redline turn back? Do you mean the change of how far the Redline goes after 9pm or whatever it is?
Good on MARTA for helping out so quickly, this is going to affect so many things. Also, what was the reasoning behind the new breeze cards and forcing the change? Better tracking?
This one's my fault, live in West Midtown but company has offices in Alpharetta. Had been giving serious thought to going in to the office tomorrow...
Any word about what MARTA is going to do about parking at stations up north? I can imagine it's going to be a shitshow for a while w00ds0n2
Yeah I live real close to the Doraville one but the lot is a complete shitshow, so unless I walk to that station I'll drive to Chamblee and park. I'm hoping that lot will be adequate, it's usually fairly empty in the morning before 8.
Build more conventional, non-affordable apartments with worthless shit on them to contribute to negative net ridership and push park and riders away.
I really just can't even imagine how bad traffic is going to be until they get this fixed. Prayers sent atl bros
This was discussed extensively. North Springs and all other north Red line park and rides are already over capacity on a normal day. At a minimum they'll put out the solar signs to let people know when the lots are full. I'd say the north Red line is fucked for the forseeable future. The parking situation is not good even before yesterday. Also, on the Gold, Doraville will fill up. Thankfully, there is more than enough spare parking at Chamblee. MARTA actually has two lots that aren't utilized at all today.
Traffic on 285 was going to be a mess anyways with the Braves game tonight. Going to be a complete stand still this afternoon.
How were the morning commutes for anyone that goes that way? Luckily, I'm not working in that area today.
I normally take 285. Stayed at the office late last night to let traffic settle down a little then went home using back roads through Tucker just to be safe. got up early this am and got on 85 north at Clairemont - was completely empty
Been looking at my route all morning even though I'm which today, and it looks like everyone stayed home. Next week will be the real test
heading over to athens this weekend... going to leave at like noon today because fuck dealing with 285 this afternoon hell my work even sent an email to most people in our department saying stay home if you need to
I'm doing work at the company in charge of doing the repairs. They're saying a rough timeline of the repair is mid summer before it's completed.
CBS news just reported GDOT already is saying the southbound section needs replacing as well, and there's a possibility adjacent sections are damaged too. Damn.
