Just used a credit on the first one. Finishing up the First Law books by Joe Abercrombie first then diving back in. Really excited.
If you have an additional credit I'd save it for one of the later books since you can read the first couple in like 2 hours
I've been walking 3-5 miles most nights ever week and listening to the books on tape. Highly recommend
Tonks and Lupin dying was a real kick in the nuts. It was perfect that Lupin and Sirius were there when Harry used the ring. Probably one of the most powerful moments in the book for me.
Jude Law has been cast as Dumbledore. Will be interesting to see him in costume to make the comparisons.
Finished HBP re-read last night. Damn last line of "The Cave" got me all choked up heading into the end of the book... “I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you.”
Finished it a couple of nights ago, and that line always jumps out at me. Perfect summary of Dumbledore and how much Harry means to him all in one sentence.
Didn't want to say this in that thread, but Truman just said this after book 6. So ironic that he's hating Snape/wondering what the plan is and uses this line in his thoughts
I was listening to OOP today and I noticed a plot hole. How come Harry couldn't see the Thestrils the entire time since he watched his Mom killed when he was a baby?
He didn't remember seeing his mom die/was too young to know what was happening so I think it can be explained away
I'm very curious to see his reaction to "The Prince's Tale". Will he hate Snape more or will he forgive him?
I feel like this was explained at some point but maybe not. I thought it was him being in shock and leaving school shortly after it happened
Eh, JK isn't the best with continuity stuff, to be honest. She spins a great tale, though. The whole monetary system and total population of wizards is really out of whack.
Here's the answer from jk: https://www.quora.com/How-come-Harry-can-see-the-Thestrals-after-his-fourth-year-and-not-before-that
since Truman doesn't want JK's hints, I'll mention it here. I remember her saying that every horcrux has been seen at some point throughout the series, some were obvious, some were well hidden. I was able to guess the lockett and Nagini. Was in complete denial that Harry was a horcrux. So great how she slipped the locket and diadem into 5 and 6 without anyone having a clue. I don't know anyone who predicted the tiara on the statue in the RoR being a horcrux.
I remember being in awe when I remembered that tiara from HBP. I also remember getting legit goosebumps when they decided to break into gringotts, since that was a teaser planted all the way back in book one.
The Gringotts chapter in DH remains my favorite chapter in the books. It spills over into The Final Hiding Place, but everything from the dragon, the moments within the vault, Harry's plan to escape, the dragon, escaping on the dragon, the dragon, them flying on the dragon, and then them finally jumping off of and later watching the dragon drink from the lake. Harry grow so much as a character from Malfoy Manor through the end of the book. It's a pretty fantastic transition from frantic and scared rebellion to action and confidence. He's not even afraid in the least by the time he faces Voldemort, who we get to see just destroying everyone within Hogwarts* *speaking of continuity, JK writes during the penultimate chapter something like, "Harry saw Voldemort, slashing and smiting all he encountered" and then a few pages later Harry is explaining that he gave everyone the same protection his mother had given him after Voldemort killed him in the Forrest. I was like, but he was just killing everyone a second ago lol
Smiting doesn't equal death. Literal definition is "strike with a firm blow"... so it works. I'm sure he was doing damage, just couldn't kill.
Ok so which death does everyone think Truman will take the worst? 1) Moody 2) Hedwig 3) Dobby 4) Fred 5) Lupin/Tonks I think 5.
