Never bothered using the cross bow in combat. I'm sure some used bombs but I rarely use them and end up just charging in Aarding everything around me. Finally got all the new mutations. I went signs first. The freeze Aard is by far the most effective mutation I've used to far. If it's a knowdown and freeze it immediately kills them. Otherwise everyone is either half dead and on the ground or frozen and I can kill them quickly.
the only bomb i have issue with is the grapeshot. drop one on a crowd of bandits, and it doesn't do much.
Not much different than other games (HZD for example). A lot of open world rpgs have bandit camps that need clearing out. It's just a different type of game mechanic to go with fetch quests and NPC discussions.
I got a good laugh out of the the B&W sidequest where Geralt is tripping balls and can hear Roach talking. "Hey, what's up with you appearing whenever I whistle? and how is it you can travel across an ocean instantly but get stuck on a small fence?"
Theres a pretty cool story in the notes with the hanse bosses. Witcher wiki has them if you missed.. but a family squabble and then a guy who was supposed to die after losing a duel let a bad guy go and the bad guy vowed to kill good guy solely bc he didnt give him the honor of death etc etc iirc
Does anyone know what type of armor I should upgrade to after a grandmaster set? I feel like I'm taking too much damage from the higher lvl stuff; I'm lvl 84 and I think the grandmaster set is 76.
Been attempting to follow everyone's guidance in here and am doing a lot of aimless wandering while working on different quests/contracts. Still am atrocious at the battling portion as drowners and ghouls almost always do some solid damage to me but slowly getting the hang of a few things. Any suggestions on which skill points to go with? I know Lawnole23 mentioned Fast Attack but I didn't know if others found ones they really enjoyed. I understand different ones for different people and their styles of game play, just wondering though.
Early on you want fast attack but after you can do what you want. My normal attack early on is to throw up Quen before I go into a fight. Then I use Aard or Igni to do some light damage but the real benefit is keeping them from being able to attack you for a few seconds. You should be able to get in 2-4 fast attacks. If you get hit and your Quen is destroyed I immediately roll away and do Quen again. I keep it up at all times during fights. A couple of sign upgrades worth getting are the exploding Quen. If it's destroyed it damages nearby opponents and knocks some of them down letting you potentially do one shot kills. Also, there is an Igni upgrade which lets you do it as a constant stream and you can turn with it. You can set multiple enemies on fire with it. I did not parry or side step a lot. I usually rolled away from them. It allowed me to attack, take some damage, roll away throw up Quen again and repeat. The best attack for humans and weaker monsters is Aard in my opinion. If they get knocked down you can walk up and one shot kill them with a stab. Once Aard is strong enough to knock down multiple enemies at a time you'll be able to take out a group of 5 bandits in around 20 seconds. Also, find oil recipes and use them often. If I come up to a group of bandits that might be difficult I put on my oil that gives me 50% damage against humans. If you see a large or leveled up enemy figure out what kind of enemy they are and then apply the appropriate oil. It's worth upgrading your oils at all times. Also keep food ready during fights throwing up Quen and eating a few pork chops in battle while I can't be damaged saved me multiple times. Also, remember to use the dedoctions and other potions they can allow you to do massive amounts of damage quickly.
I can't remember the name of it but I always use the bomb that explodes and sets fire to things whenever I go up against a group of humans. It panics them and you can just cut them down. Just make sure you rush and take out the archers as quick as you can.
Agreed. Run to the archers quickly and take them down. At higher levels they'll one shot your Quen and if you get hit again it will do decent damage plus stagger you causing you to get hit with a sword as well.
They badly nerfed this igni stream because it was way OP originally. I'd just rec upgrading the regular igni all the way, as it's solid for pausing enemies and taking down their armor Just finished the main quest after respec'ing from magic/sword to all fast attacks and alchemy. Poisoned blades, tons of fast attack crits, mutagens and fun times. Looking forward to the expansions (bought but haven't began)
The new mutagens in Blood and Wine can cause some serious damage. The alchemy upgrades make it pretty much like Skyrim where you're unstoppable. I have just left those alone. A new mutagen allows you to freeze with Aard. If it freezes and knocks down it instantly kills them. If I hit a group of 10 with it 2-3 will die instantly, 2-3 are knocked down and the rest are frozen. Makes the game much easier.
that was a bitch. I used my crossbow to shoot the pic instead of trying to run across the room to whichever frame she was in. it made things a lot easier
Okay I was trying to use signs on the pictures. So I have to hit them before the wraith gets in them?
I don't remember exactly. I think when the picture turns green she's either in there or it's giving her health. I just remember that you have to run around and hit whichever picture frame is lit up to keep her from regenerating health, and instead of constantly trying to cross the room quickly which didn't work very much I just started shooting over to whichever frame was activated
I haven't read them yet but I have a friend who swears by them. She also tells me to leave expectations from the game behind when I do read
I've read the two short stories books and the first main novel. They're very good. I've started the second but am taking a break to read the We are Legion We are Bob books. If you like the games you'll like the books.
I got through the short story books and burned out. I'm going to try to pick them up eventually after I finish ASOIAF. Spoiler which is currently impossible to do
Finished HOS main story, pretty great Just started B&W, pretty awesome so far. Nice to play in a nicer looking area
I'm obviously way, way behind everyone else but I just had to deal with the botchling from the Bloody Baron. That was pretty repulsive and tedious.
Just finished HOS today, also enjoyed the story. Toussaint looks awesome so far. Need that grandmaster cat armor asap.
So the dude who wrote the series sold the license to cd projekt for $9500 despite being offered a percentage. Solid move.
He's been super bitter all along that "the games are taking away from his book sales". Bitch, I bought your fucking books because of that.
