Speaking of which, that final scene with Jimmy and Kim's silhouettes against the glass block window of their office was great.
I find their relationship to be the weak point of the show logically. It just makes no sense to me on multiple levels.
I dont get your point but id like to hear why it doesnt make sense. Kim likes Jimmy because he's so different and does shit she kinda want to do, but just cant make herself do. to me it makes perfect sense and the show have even gone to lengths showing us why they connect.
He's a middle-aged, balding, con artist loser who is currently charged with multiple crimes that he's 100% guilty of. He is, in every sense of the term, a complete fuck up. She is a hot, successful lawyer with her shit together who is at an age where the vast majority of women, especially smart ones, aren't still dating "that guy" anymore. I get why she likes him but I find it highly unlikely that someone like her would be dating him after all of this. It made sense in their 20s in the mail room, it makes far less as late 30s professionals. He's also a constant threat to her career that they've taken great pains to show is a tremendous part of her identity.
Theres plenty of people out there who are with someone or at least hangs around someone they know they shouldnt. Idk i find it perfectly likely.
There's plenty of hot, successful lawyers who date homeless criminals with a comb over? I think if you knew the 2 of them in real life everyone would say "what the fuck is she doing with him, this is insane"
I think you are missing the importance of what I highlighted. She saw him overcome every hurdle from mailroom guy to lawyer and knows exactly how stacked against him the deck was and yet he persevered and did exactly what he set out to do. That kind of drive and self confidence will cover up for a lot of the shit he's done. Not to mention while he does a fair amount of shady shit he always seems rather up front with her about what he's done and the driving force behind each fucked up decision. I think what we are seeing is her attempt to overlook all that crap and see the good in him. EDIT: And it's quite clearly becoming an issue that she won't be able to overlook much longer.
I think it would make more sense if they weren't a decade into their relationship and she hadn't seen this going down for years and years. She obviously tires of his bullshit and leaves, I just think it'd happen sooner in real life, particularly with someone like Kim. It's a small issue but it has obviously upset some people so I'll drop it.
I don't think anyone is upset. Also the storyline as I remember it is that he didn't really start blurring the lines much until very recently at least as far as lawyer type things goes. Shit he was mostly a public defender for the majority of season one.
mike attempting to throw the shoes on the wire was my favorite part of the entire episode. and i agree about the whole "sprinkle some crack on 'em" plan. that just didn't seem like something mike would do.
I love this show so much but I have an uneasy feeling at all times knowing the downfall of Jimmy is coming. At his core he is such a great guy with a big heart but that bad within comes out and messes the good things in his life up.
As zeberdee mentioned, it's going to be painful whenever whatever happens that ultimately sends Kim away. He never once mentions her in Breaking Bad. He does however use the title of her favorite movie, Ice Station Zebra, as the name of his holding company. Also, from the Better Call Saul reddit it was pointed out that Jimmy's case number started with 2003. Breaking Bad begins in 2008. So we're within 5 years of Saul being as established as he is when we meet him in Breaking Bad.
I admittedly don't know much about shooting so I could easily be way off, but that seemed like a pretty difficult shot for him to hit with the distance and other factors included (dangling shoes, small target, timing with the truck). But he is Mike, so...
Okay, goodness...I'm gonna need some time to digest that. Did they really manage to cram that much into less than an hour of television? I know my bias now, I just adore this show's focus and emphasis on process, it taps into the compulsive side of my brain and I personally enjoy it. Spoiler but holy fucking shit, I mean holy fucking shit! How would you even bullet point the show tonight when the highlights include Mike and Gus, Gus and Hector, Mike and Jimmy, Mike and Chuck, Jimmy and Kim, just on and on. And for everyone who wanted an acceleration of jimmy's storyline, this felt like a bit of a boost.
With her characteristic tenacity and attention to detail Too many drinks speculation, Fring snaps her up because he likes that shit
Great episode but pretty major flaw when they deliver a Los Pollos Hermanos shirt along with the cash. I know he was supposed to be sending a message to Hector but Gus was far too meticulous to have something tying his legit business to a known cartel kingpin
Best episode of the season so far. Gus scenes were fantastic. "A bullet to the head would've been FAR too humane"
Don Eladio was a great touch, right when I saw him in the pool I thought yes this is gonna be a great scene. You can just see the friction in Hector. Never satisfied, always the pitbull. Jimmy finally has the upperhand on chuck at least for the moment This show is amazing
I would assume entrapment would apply. Also, if there's a duplicate tape, the destruction of property is literally only $1.98 with no additional motive/significance. Can't remember what the felony charge was for? Perhaps it kills that part of things when he goes before the bar review?
blind dog was talking about kim taking a turn towards the darkside, I was agreeing, and adding in that she was doing so with the same sort of meticulous, somewhat mundane, attention to detail that Jimmy often lacks. In this case, going through the damn yellow pages figuring out who was meant to fix chucks door and canceling it to make way for mike's infiltration. I just like how it's totally in line with her characters displayed personality and skillset, and it's certainly not the first time we've seen the show draw focus to it. For the second part, I did preface it with "drunk speculation", I was just thinking about how an obsessive personality like Gus might recognize and appreciate those sorts of traits in Kim, and since we don't see her in breaking bad, I like imagining that she's embedded somewhere in Gus's network instead of just going off doing her own thing because shit goes bad in this show. I'll reiterate, it was the beer talking.
We saw Mike slip Jimmy a small piece of paper when he gave him the pictures of chucks house. I'm just speculating here, but I think that piece of paper had the lockbox code to the original tape of Jimmy's confession and now Jimmy can get Mike to steal the tape. That was the plan all along to get chuck to arrogantly admit to Kim that they certainly have the original "Bingo"
What an amazing episode. If we get to see Chuck disbarred for this it will be one of the most satisfying moments in television history
