I was looking around for a new apartment. Maybe midtown, or maybe the west side. Wait, what about O4W? And then I saw this. Yall can find me at LIVE! AT THE BATTERY WITH COLT FORD AND SODO SOPA! https://whatnowatlanta.com/pbr-atlanta-live-at-the-battery-atlanta/
You guys mean to tell me you aren't looking forward to testing your mettle against Druw? When that thing falls it's going to cut 30+ ppl in half.
http://www.ajc.com/news/local-govt-...na-penalties-thursday/KEQ72MLo1slFKe8TgAXsRI/ Discussing reducing the Cannabis possession penalties in COA today. This stat is fucking absurd...
My biggest concern with the weed arrests is how much we're spending to deal with it when our fucking infrastructure is in the shitter
I saw that yesterday. Maybe not the best title, but it seems like people are genuinely trying to relate their story about how the metro area is segregated. Are y'all upset at the tone of the article?
That article is pure fucking trash. There is nothing insightful about that commentary and nothing more than stereotypical bullshit and views that all blacks are uneducated, dirty, gang bangers and whites are scared. Fuck that loser
Yea, how could they not find someone that had something worthwhile to add to the discussion other than "they were rapping and talking about drugs and demeaning women! I was very uncomfortable with how gangster they were and then they talked about white people and I was even more scared!"
Except this: "Of course, this does not represent all African-Americans, in the city or even on the train, but this is not an uncommon experience on my MARTA journey. As I trek down the city, I see the racial differences, see the divides, hear the pain in the rap songs and conversations." But fuck him anyway! He should feel bad and move to edgewood to repent.
imo it would have been OK if you do it as reporting on what new riders from the burbs have to say about their experience but doing it as a diary/blog entry comes off as just normalizing the particular individual's ignorance.
I honestly didn't read the article that thoroughly and now agree that it comes off as a scared white person who doesn't interact with black people in downtown Atlanta very often.
I think that's the point. Not everyone who rides Marta is comfortable, but he shouldn't be attacked for it. Everyone keeps saying they want a frank discussion, but when a guy like him says how he feels (I haven't noticed people of different colors not sitting next to each other) he's just a dumb cracker from the burbs. Do I think he's overreacting? Sure. But not all people think alike.
I definitely agree, but he could have chosen his words more carefully. He makes a good point that the racial makeup of the riders drastically changes over the course of riding MARTA from a northern Red Line stop all the way to the Airport. That should be obvious to many of us, but it did make me reflect about the city when I thought about it.
It's a gross exaggeration of daily commutes Have I had bums hit me up? Sure. Have I seen ppl listen to loud rap music? Sure. But over all its nonsense and just more painting a bullshit narrative. I don't see ppl pick seats based on race. I don't see black people loudly claim crackers don't like us. It's race baiting bullshit
IMO its not about "attacking" the guy, rather whether the AJC should have published it; or in the manner that they did. Saying 'not all people think alike' just seems like justification to give a guy a pass to proceed with some pretty ignorant thoughts w/o any pushback. Its also possible for him to say how he feels + be a dumb cracker from the burbs.
I agree about the seats. I usually have headphones in, but I did take them out to listen to two black guys talk about white ppl. They were pretty much saying what white ppl say, and I thought it was interesting/funny. "I have white friends, but most of them don't like us." "They'll be nice to your face, and then turn around yada yada." I didn't feel threatened at all. This only happened one time, so I'm not saying it's a daily occurrence.
Everyone single portrayal of a black person in that article was negative. All of them. That isn't accurate. It's bullshit race baiting nonsense
Do we really need to argue about this guy's opinion of black people? Black people, as he sees them on MARTA, are violent, profane, racist gang members who are responsible for the racial divide in Atlanta
