Me 2 I thought he was a lock because he can play every ST and 5 positions on defense

Tillery is not going pro next year. If Mcglinchey plays like he did in the spring game no chance he's even in the first two rounds

Jayson ademilola got invited to the opening

PJ mustipher was also invited (sounds like he's going to commit before the end of summer)

Ruckert (the TE from NY) also got invited though he's probably going to Ohio St

From a buddy who knows some connected people at Oregon:

"The staff is currently working to flip a Notre Dame recruit NOT named Braden Lenzy. From what I was told, they are VERY close to getting the kid to flip. Can't say his name yet, but there is a connection that makes it make sense... (duck rivals)"

I like our chances in the Gervin sweepstakes. Oregon could very well implode again, and Oregon is a long way from Michigan. Let's see how he feels after the season.

Besides, after we win the Natty and Wimbush wins the Heisman, he'll have no choice but to sign with ND.

Irish247 insider Tom Loy and 247Sports National Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong team up to bring you the latest they’re hearing regarding Notre Dame on the recruiting trail.

Notre Dame is working on what could shape up to be one of the better defensive line hauls of the Brian Kelly era.

    — Top247 defensive tackle Jayson Ademilola is a prospect that could play anywhere in the country and his twin brother Justin Ademilola brings some nice traits at defensive end.

    — We continue to feel great about 247Sports Crystal Ball forecasts in favor of Notre Dame two more top targets in Top247 defensive end Thomas Booker and defensive tackle Ja’Mion Franklin.

    — Booker, a four-star recruit, took a visit to Notre Dame at the end of March where the Irish impressed on every front. Stanford had Booker on campus after that and didn’t offer. Since then sources tell Tunnel Vision that Booker has told ND they’re the program to beat. When asked what the hold-up on a commitment was, Tunnel Vision was told waiting to visit ND again. Booker is expected back in June for Irish Invasion and right now the intel says the Baltimore (Md.) Gilman standout should be on commit watch.

    — Franklin has Notre Dame in his top two with Clemson, and similar to Booker’s situation with Stanford, the Tigers have not offered. Along with his coaches, Franklin visited South Bend in March and left with ND as his No. 1 school. He recently told 247Sports he plans to be back in South Bend in late June with his parents this time before announcing on July 31. Franklin plans to camp at Clemson on June 13 so we’ll see if the dynamic of this situation changes but right now it looks like the Tigers are settled in on other offered targets right now.

    — You can win a lot of games with guys like Jayson Ademilola, Thomas Booker and Ja’Mion Franklin. That’s a lot of mass across your front with Ademilola and Franklin around 300 pounds and Booker hovering around 280.

    — This doesn’t even mention PJ Mustipher, another Top247 recruit that we have Crystal Balled to the Irish. What looked like a slam dunk early on in the 2018 cycle, now ND is in a battle to land the four-star from Maryland and obvious younger brother of starting center Sam Mustipher. A strong source told Tunnel Vision that Tennessee is the program to beat with ND, Ohio State and Penn State among the others still very much in play. Mustipher was back in South Bend for the spring game where he gave his visit high returns. He could decide this month. Loy think he ultimately ends up Irish, Wiltfong is starting to lean Vols. We may know how this plays out shortly.

Beyond those targets, pass rusher remains a major focus.

    — Notre Dame is in the top three, but running third for Cleveland Heights Top247 defensive end Tyreke Smith.

    — Top247 defensive end Richard Jibunor is going to be a tough pull out of Georgia and away from a program like Auburn that’s been on him early but he’s been great with his communication with the Notre Dame staff.

    — Salt Lake City (Utah) Olympus defensive end Cameron Latu has ND in his top five but USC and Alabama are in much better position.

    — Notre Dame is in on some linebackers that also bring a pass-rushing presence in Jack Lamb and Channing Tindall, two prospects with the type of personality that are one visit away from having the Irish as their leader. These guys fit the mold of a Notre Dame target off the field. Lamb was recently offered and Tindall has been a top target the entire cycle.

    — Clark Lea is leading the recruitment on Tindall and was by the school last week. The two have a relationship dating back to Lea’s time at Wake Forest. Tidal recently told 247Sports he plans to visit South Bend for that potentially game-changing visit. From a military family, Tindall is currently favoring the likes of local South Carolina, Auburn where the Tigers linebackers coach is from his hometown among others. Lamb is high on Penn State where his parents went and UCLA, but ND was the offer he wanted the most and we’ll see what develops once he visits. Nothing is scheduled but this summer is expected.

    — Regarding other linebacker targets, it’s looking more and more obvious by the day Dallas Gant is Ohio State bound. Barring a change of heart, the Buckeyes will be his pick. Top247 linebacker Dax Hollifield says ND is in his top eight as they look to make up ground on South Carolina, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. He’ll visit Palo Alto next. Top247 linebacker Shayne Simon is very high on Notre Dame following his spring visit. The buzz says he’s Michigan’s to lose but that same buzz says ND still has a chance and is the biggest challenger to the Wolverines. The Irish are swinging hard at Simon, a coveted target to play the Rover position. Obviously Simon’s teammates are the Ademilola twins by way of the same high school as Brandon Wimbush.

    — Going down the board.

    — ND is set at quarterback with Top247 recruit Phil Jurkovec.

At running back, Wiltfong and Loy still believe that once Jahmir Smith visits, the Sanford (NC) Lee County standout will start to lean Irish. Irish assistant Autry Denson was recently in to visit Lavonte Valentine as he tries to get a visit locked in. Markese Stepp is already committed and biggest threat to flip USC is probably too far away.

    — Notre Dame remains the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for receiver Kevin Austin, as Loy, Wiltfong and even Miami insider Andrew Ivisn all believe the Irish win out. The Sunshine State standout was recently in South Bend for the spring game where he had a great visit. This continues to look like an ND-Miami battle with a summer decision on tap.

    — One source who originally didn’t think ND had much of a chance for Top247 receiver Chase Cota now believes the Irish are firmly in it following his visit to South Bend for the spring game. Obviously he’s an Oregon legacy from the that state, but Cota has a lot in common with the locker room at ND and he’s seriously considering the opportunity. USC, UCLA and Washington are also in it for Cota.

    — ND will continue to battle for big-times like Amon-Ra St. Brownand Kamryn Babb. Look for both to visit again at some point. Some of the West Coast schools are probably in better position for St. Brown and Ohio State and Michigan likely lead for Babb but ND will have more opportunities with both.

    — The Irish will also have a chance to make a move with guys like Tommy Bush and Lawrence Keys III.

    — We still like Notre Dame for tight end George Takacs and a new offer to Tommy Tremble puts the Irish in good position. A source close to Tremble tells Irish247 that despite the fact that both his parents attended school in Athens, that he’s not a lock to in-state Georgia and that mom and dad actually prefer elsewhere. The nation’s No. 1 tight end Jeremy Ruckert has ND in his top four but seems more likely to land at Ohio State or Michigan.

    — Notre Dame has two offensive line commits in John Dirksen and Cole Mabry. The Irish remain in the top two for Top247 offensive tackle Ryan Hayes with one parent preferring ND and the other being high on Michigan. The pulse says Wolverines but this is not a Dallas Gant situation and Notre Dame is very alive here.

    — If four-star OL Nicholas Petit-Frere makes it back to campus this summer, we’ll put him on commit watch.

    — We already talked defensive line and linebacker which brings us to the secondary.

    — Top247 safety/rover Derrik Allen is already committed as is Top247 cornerback Kalon Gervin.

    — While Top247 cornerback Houston Griffith’s Crystal Ball favors Ohio State including Wiltfong’s pick, Notre Dame has a great shot to land the Chicagoland native. One source told Tunnel Vision that when Griffith visited ND in the spring, that he had to be on campus very early in the morning which means he had to leave Chicago even earlier when also considering the time difference. The young man was punctual, sat in meetings all day and was attentive. That alone excited sources around The Gug about Griffith as a young man. Loy has Griffith to ND.

In a 30-minute interview with The Associated Press the day before Notre Dame's spring game last month, Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly answered questions about being on the hot seat this season, the perception that he blames players, whether he was looking for another job at the end of last season, what he was looking for in new coordinators and more.

    Some highlights:

On the perception by critics that he blames players.

    — "I demand. I never demean'em. We have a high level of accountability. We're very demanding and (the players) expect me to be honest with them on a day-to-day basis. They would say that 'That's Coach Kelly being Coach Kelly. If he came in and sugarcoated it, he's full of it. That's just not him.'

"But what I will change this year is that I can't be honest with assessments of players to the media. Totally honest. Because it's portrayed as throwing players under the bus. Being disloyal to a player. They don't know the relationship with the player. Based upon what happened last year and the fallout that occurred from other media sources, it doesn't do the university — it doesn't do our program — any good for me to be forthright when it comes to those kinds of assessments of our players."

On becoming more involved in all aspects of the team.

    — "So I think you look at it as a CEO. You're in charge of this division, you're in charge of that division, and you hold your group accountable if they don't get their job done. I'm not running the business that way anymore. I'm on the floor. I'm involved with everything that's going on. I'm not micromanaging anything. But I want our players to know that I am involved in everything they're involved with on a day-to-day basis."

On being on the hot seat this season.

    — "If you have a 4-8 season and you follow it up with another bad season at Notre Dame that to me would say that you don't know how to fix it. You haven't figured out what the problem is at Notre Dame. I'm very confident that I know what the issue was. So will we win 12 games? I can't guarantee that we'll win 12 games. But we're certainly not going to have the same issues that we had last year. Which were pretty clear that we were not a gritty, tough football team in the fourth quarter. If we do all the other things the right way, which, I've been doing it a long time, I think I know how to do those things."

On speculation and unconfirmed media reports that he was interested in finding another job at the end of last season.

    — "I was 4-8. I can tell you that my agent and I never had conversations with anybody. It in the offseason came up that maybe my name was used to enhance some other searches. But, no, we were never looking for jobs."

On new defensive coordinator Mike Elko.

    — "We were going from schemes to fundamentals on defense. We were a heavy scheme team. Then when I got over and took over the defense with (assistant coach) Mike Elston we went back to fundamentals and we saw a great change in our success rate on defense. So I was looking for somebody who was going to really focus on the fundamentals on defense. That's Mike Elko."

On new offensive coordinator Chip Long.

    — "I wanted to find a play caller. Somebody that had the knack. The art. Calling plays is a feel thing, it's an art. You can be in this business for 30 years and you still can't call plays. You've got a connection and feel that this guy can call plays. I've seen that that was something that was going to be difficult for me. And it was in a way difficult when I stepped back a little bit at times because I have not felt comfortable because I haven't found the guy. I found the guy."

If we end up with Mustipher, Franklin, and Booker in addition to what we have. I'd be excited about DL haul. Still may need to find a speed rusher type. RS Okwara this year could be ideal, but we never seem to do that with the guys we should.

Really, it should be Daelin with Trumbetti backing him up and a little Ade in there if he can handle it

Jay and Kareem at SE would be a nice combo as well and you can put Trumbetti over there situationally
