How did you go about piecing this together? Just looking for used single irons?

I didn't do it (went full MP25) but it might be tough if you don't go through custom ordering. Some pop up on eBay or GolfWRX now and then.

    You can order individual irons.

But I'll say Mizuno is hands down my favorite manufacturer we order from. Their customer service and speed of putting together orders is way above the competition

I really want new irons and am pretty sure it'll be Mizunos, I just don't really need them

Currently play the MP64's and used to have the old MX-20s before they got stolen. I may not ever play another brand of irons again. I absolutely love them.

Whats your hcp? I'm a 12 but I was down to ten a month ago. I just wanna make sure I don't give up too much forgiveness.

I floated around an 8-12 most of my life, but have been playing to around a 6 or 7 for the past year. If you are worried about the 64s, get the 54s. My dad is a 12-14 now and plays those. Looks like the dont have them in the 2017 line, but I am sure you can find them somewhere.

If youre looking at the 2017 line, the MP25's are a good option with the Boron face. My old roommate bought a set of these last year (he's an 8-10 hcp) and loves them. I actually probably hit them better than my 64s, but didnt want to upgrade after only having the 64s for 1 1/2 years.

Edit: the boron is stronger than the metal they previously used, so it allows them to make the face even thinner. And my understanding is that that increases forgiveness.

25's are the tits. I'm right in the 9-12 handicap and they are still forgiving enough. Just taking some time getting used to the new shafts. Went from 105 S300's to KBS 130 X.

The V soles on the Srixons look very enticing. A combo set of the 565/765s seems pretty attractive. The clubs are gorgeous.

I've only put two sets of irons in my bag in the last 22 years (since I was 12), MP-29's and now MP-67's. When the heads start flying off the 67's, no doubt they will be replaced with another set of Mizunos.

    Need some third party opinions...

A hypothetical guy with a course handicap of 24 shoots a 90 in a fairly competitve buddies tournament.

    Slope of course is 141.

Name of the course is Whistling Straits.

    Winds were blowing 20-25mph.

So he shot about 6 better than his course handicap, but considering the winds and difficulty of the course, that seems more like 8 or 9 shots better than his handicap.

So, the odds of that are like 1 in 5k right?

Probably need more info. How often does he play? If he is a coordinated guy and is just starting to keep a hcp, I guess he could basically be playing with a "false" hcp that would get normalized over a few more rounds. Probably pretty unlikely though. Thats a pretty legit score on that course in those conditions. I'm a 12 and a 90 in those conditions on that course would mean I played pretty decent.

We have a guy who is a 10 in our group who shot a 98.

This guy can make a birdie or a 10. As it turns out, he records a ten as a ten. So he has some absurdly high scores...

Is it a ghin hcp? If there was decent money involved Id be looking up his ghin info. 141 slope in 20 mph wind requires some pretty consistent ball striking. But again theres those guys out there that just have a good short game without practicing.

    No money, just bragging rights.

We have played 10 total rounds of this tourny at pinehurst, pebble/spyglass, and now river course/whistling straits and the match is literally tied.

    Irish tomorrow...

Most he should be able to take for handicap purposes is probably a triple. Sounds like he's an 18 or 19 and had a good round or he's a 14/15 and is an asshole.

A legit USGA handicap is the best 10 of your last 20 scores. You are only supposed to be able to shoot your handicap 1/4 times and it reflects what you are capable of on a good day.

Never hit the h5s, so no idea. Sorry.

They are more forgiving than the 64s. And maybe slightly more forgiving than the 54s, with a look closer to the 64s.
