saving the pen since the starter only pitched like an inning and the pitcher's spot was coming up to hit
Royals seemingly drafted Hosmer 2.0 last night by taking HS 1B Nick Pratto at 14 overall. I like the pick, he's got a beautiful looking swing.
Looks like he's got a much smoother, in-control swing compared to Hosmer's (most times) violent swing. Supposedly could play RF/LF as well. We'll see if the power develops.
Sounds like the 2nd round pick is being billed as a left handed Salvy but he needs a lot of work with his bat still.
Can't say I love drafting Catchers (that project as catchers long-term) straight from high school. Seems like they almost always end up busting.
I bet they roll with him again when his spot comes around next week. The long term plan has been for him to be in the rotation. I'd still like to see Minor get stretched out considering he's 1) looked really good this year and 2) has actually been a pretty damn good starter previously in his career.
Such a huge difference in this line up when him and Esky aren't complete black holes. Hud was saying he's changed where he's holding his hands in the stance. I think batting him 8th in the SD&SF series where they were feeding him fastballs has helped his eye a lot as well.
Kennedy got squeezed on what should have been a strikeout of Maybin to end the inning. Forced him to throw ~20 more pitches
Cain probably should have been rung up on that 2-2 slider. Instead the shitty zone resulted in a LoCain lean back HR. All is forgiven
I'm trying not to get my hopes up. That post doesn't help. But if Kennedy can keep it up and Duffy comes back strong and Strahm can fill a rotation spot and Gordon isn't terrible.......
I gotta admit that I was wrong about Whit. I thought he was nothing more than a nice utility guy but he's turned out to be quite the second baseman. His at-bats are much better this year and he's even added a little pop. I just like the way he plays the game.
Long article on the scientific testing on the new "juiced" balls. Conclusion: Maybe/Probably, with batters adapting and trying to hit more homeruns. https://theringer.com/2017-mlb-home-run-spike-juiced-ball-testing-reveal-155cd21108bc
See the title was changed Hello 6 game losing streak God damn gfa figured you would have learned your lesson
Big fan of the way Vargy's throwing this season, but dude has the look of someone you'd just like to punch in the lip. Of course that's all unrelated to this interaction.
I heard everyone making a big deal out for that on the radio yesterday. Gordo's been leaving people hanging like that for years. He does it to Jersch at third about every other home run. This is no bigger a story then when the whole team gave him the silent treatment after his first HR.
Anyone catch this exchange on the post game show: Joel: Enjoy the pool tomorrow Hud Hud: SCREEN IT UP JOEL ITS GONNA BE A BEAUTIUL THING OF RIBS ON THE BARBIE CANT WAIT!!!! Joel:.............uh, what? Hud: (weird maniacal laughter) Ryan: (slowly turns head with look that says I literally work within 2 feet of a psychopath)
Feliz hasn't been tearing it up or anything. I'm just glad I don't have to see CY pitch for us anymore.
Feliz allegedly is still hitting 96 on the gun. If Eiland can work his magic like he's done with so many in the past, I could see him becoming a useful piece. Especially if Strahm ends up sticking in the rotation.
