I figured they would once they made that CSP rule. now the only people who can be referred: 1. don't have more than 5/24 2. haven't opened a CSP or CSR in the last 24 months That means they are fresh fucking meat. The percentage of morons to get this card via referral will make it profitable
They're all cunts anyway. That's why I only use doctorofcredit for such stuff. On a side note, finally got the Jet Blue Plus card approved after the 8-10 day automatic message. Small as hell credit limit but whatever. 40K points for 99$ a year (5000 anniversary bonus & Barclay card ends up waiving some part of the annual fee for retention anyway) is a great deal.
And let me be the first to post his Chase Sapphire Preferred referral link: https://www.referyourchasecard.com/6/IJRC27WC31
I guess I'll have to start grocery shopping at Walmart and browse electronics deals there. The department store list is shit
Has anyone used their Priority Pass for the lounges at O'Hare? Flying through Chicago on Wednesday and have a 3 hour layover there. Both the lounges there are in the international terminal and on the description it says "international flights from terminal 5 only." To me that sounds like those lounges are only for people traveling internationally but I was wondering if anyone could confirm/deny this
They don’t care where you’re flying, but the terminals might be split up and you’d have to go through security possibly?
PS: using AA points to get to Europe is the biggest fucking sham. British Airways charges $250 pp each way in fees. We’re either going to Asia again or just use the points domestically and go see the West Coast.
I'm thinking that's the case if I remember right from flying internationally into O'Hare but I was hoping I was wrong
I think that's more of a UK/London thing than an AA thing. Every award ticket that goes through london charges ridiculous fees. Try to find something that doesn't route through London and you'll probably find better.
Delta skymiles people. How often are you getting free upgrades and shit? Potentially moving to a Delta hub and going to be flying a bunch the next few years so planning on playing the miles game with credit cards and such, but hearing Deltas overloaded on people with high status so its not nearly as beneficial as it seems. Also, really need that 70k bonus miles to come back.
Based out of DTW. Agree, its not as beneficial as it seems. I was gold for the last several years and just hit platinum for the first time. I got upgraded to comfort every single time as gold and its automatic at platinum. As gold, I never got first class upgrades on commuter routes or hub to hub routes, but I got first class upgrades about half the time on the leisure routes. Only taken a few commuter trips so far as platinum and still have not gotten first class upgrades. Silver status is basically worthless in a hub city - everyone has a credit card that gets them status, zone 1/sky boarding, etc. I have been on flights where the gate agent announces that every single person on the flight is at least zone 1 so don't waste time huddling around the gate.
Guess I stand corrected then. Have always heard it as a common thing that flying through LHR on award tickets costs a lot for fees in general. I have seen this first hand on AA, BA, and Virgin Atlantic, but never flown United international.
A lot depends on what hub airport and what route/time you are flying. I will say that as a gold I basically get upgraded to comfort+ 90% of the time. Upgraded to first is more rare but if it is a random time/day there is a pretty good chance of getting the upgrade.
Been flying a lot lately and this is what I figured. Always seems like 90% of the flight is some pre board status.
Speaking of Priority Pass, my lounge card says it expires October of this year. Does it automatically renew as long as I keep my CSR? Haven't really looked too closely.
I don't think I'm ever getting another American Express card. I can't hit minimum spend because no retailers want to take it. Even our Department of Motor Vehicles in Indiana won't take it
I ended up putting rent on it last month and ate the 3% fee just so I could be done with it on my platinum Delta card. I never realized how many random things you can't put on it. I was pleasantly surprised that within about a day of hitting it they deposited the bonus miles instead of having to wait for weeks after the statement closed.
I never have a problem with my spg. There's like one restaurant I frequent and the place I get my haircut that don't take it but other than that I use it all the time
Amex Gold coming in today. We booked fights for a West Coast vacation for next summer so going to use those 50000 membership points for something else. Yours truly has never been west of the Mississippi (other than flying/layovers).
I just use Citi Double Cash (MasterCard) for most expenses that I can’t get a higher % than on my Citi Costco VISA or Chase Amazon Visa
I try to do spending towards card bonuses that isn't earning bonuses on the CSR or AMEX BCP. I guess I don't spend that much on stuff that doesn't fall in those categories.
To me, spg points are worth more than like 5% back on discover categories or whatever. So I do 1. Spend for a sign up bonus 2. Freedom rotating bonus 3. CSR for normal restaurants and bars and travel 4. Freedom unlimited/spg for regular shit
Success w/ CSR UR Pts and United. YMMV Spoiler I bought my tickets to Calgary (I flew United Econ) via Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal, using Chase pts for 99% of the 'cost' and used my Chase United MileagePlus Explorer card for the last 1%, to keep my benefits (priority boarding, free checked bag, seat choice, etc). Since I was backpacking in Banff (write up incoming in the travel thread), I had to check my 55L backpack. Chases system didn't recognize that I paid with my Chase United MPE card, so at the airport I had to pay checked bag fee (basically $25 USD each way). I was a bit concerned, but the desk agent said go to united siteand request a refund for your checked bag fees ($25x2 = $50). Pretty simple process to submit your refund claim (keep your checked bag receipt) and they DID refund me the full amount within 48 hours. Now refunded bag fees, my total cash cost for the flight was maybe $3.30

DoC has confirmation from a reliable source that Bank of America has introduced a new limitation on card approvals to slow down churners. The new rules are: No more than 2 BoA cards in a two month time No more than 3 BoA cards in a year No more than 4 BoA cards in 24 months
