I don't know why people try explaining why trickle down doesn't work to these mouth breathers. They will never acknowledge the facts. I tried pointing out to someone that I know that one of my uncles, who could buy rules and his family along with every shit poster on this site and not miss the $ at all, says trickle down doesn't work. If he gets a windfall from an investment, or a tax break or a new deduction, whatever. He's not out creating jobs with it. He's investing in high tech stocks (the kind of companies that are killing off the manufacturing jobs trumptards think are coming back), or investing in real estate to flip, or taking his family on a vacation overseas somewhere. What part of that is trickling down to the middle class and lower?
Trickle down goes against basic human psychology. When you get more, you keep more. Maybe you'll spend a tiny bit more to expand your business, but for the most part that money is going straight in your pocket or you're spending it for your short-term benefit. Trickle down fails for the same reason why communism fails -- humans are selfish beings.
The only thing I know about Gulen is that Erdoğan hates him. And Erdoğan is a piece of shit who killed democracy in Turkey, so I am not inclined toward us giving up Gulen.
The beauty of Trickle down is that not only do the rich invest in tech stocks, which as you said are building the technology that put these people out of work, corporations also use the financial windfall to invest in equipment that to advance automation or to build factories overseas. These fuckers are literally paying corporations to take their jobs away, prime example Carrier plant in Indiana, thanks to the tax credits they received Carrier was able to move those jobs a year ahead of schedule.
The political question here is about the expansive AUMF our armed forces are operating under. I'm not inherently opposed having limited numbers of troopers in Niger training their army to fight Boko Haram or Isis offshoots. But I'd prefer a formal explanation as to why that is a thing we should be doing.
Supporter Dean Graham wore his commemorative pink underwear, autographed by Sheriff Joe, to Arpaio's speech at a GOP fundraiser in Fresno, California. Jeremy Raff / The Atlantic Triggered much, Libs?
Yeah, even Congress doesn't know where troops are stationed. That's a huge issue when the idiots realize they're idiots.
It is because they already got a 10 out of 10 from their boss. To be fair, no one could have predicted having to face several hurricanes of increasing severity all in the same year.
I contend trickle down could work after 15 years, but that takes too long. Like has been said, people will use that money to secure themselves first, then maybe hire a new person years later.
Reagan instituted that shit in the 80s and we never saw any benefit from it, it does not work. Someone who makes $10M a year and takes home $6M is not going to spend more because they all of a sudden get to take home $7M.
In retrospect, I'd be for actual death panels, but only for people too poisoned by Fox News to live out their golden years in peace.
This whitefish deal might be the most corrupt thing this administration has done. And fuck me that's a high bar.
How exactly is the government involved? It looks like the PR electric authority executed the contract. Are we just reimbursing them?
Assuming the he/she works a 12 hour shift, that $7,488 a day for a doctor. Do the line workers get free botox injections?
Isn’t this a loan to Puerto Rico or is this separate from that bullshit relief package? If this is a loan the fact that this corrupt deal is thrust upon the people of Puerto Rico is bullshit.
global wealth inequality hasn't been higher since 1905 luckily the planet saw great stability and prosperity over the next few decades so nothing to worry about
You need a formal explanation to understand why the best trained troops in the world are a good source to be training foreign armies?
i believe what he should be asking is: what authority does our president have to send troops to africa for indefinite time periods?
No. I understand that part and think that American Green Berets training allied troops in Niger is a good thing. I also get that having Army Rangers going on missions with Nigerian forces would help with the training process in fighting Boko Haram. I'd like an explanation from the government as why this should be done. And then for to be a vote on whether the mission is worthy of our time and effort.
You honestly want congress to micromanage our assistance to our allies in their fight against terrorism?
But during the Obama administration you agree it was probably a good idea to give the special forces operations a little bit of leeway to do their intended missions?
Like inside Pakistan to kill Bin Laden? I'd approve that. I disapprove of the endless war without clear objectives. I get that you are arguing just argue. Thank you for your service.
Maybe not, but most small businesses would be something like bring home 600k now, tax reform, bring home 750k, and those types absolutely would spend more. Maybe not hiring people though. I kinda think tax cuts only if whoever gets those cuts agree to invest 40 percent or so, but in actual labor, not stocks.
But those small businesses would not see an increase in tax revenue only big corporations and the wealthy will. What good is a tax rate decrease when you taxable base goes way up and you end up spending more for essential services?
