That was an awesome day. I really felt like after the refs goofed with the offsides and the fans booing that it fired up the team, offensive line specifically , and we took over the game from there . Regardless of the crowd size it was awesome to see the team respond to the fans And get the w
Sounds like mamadou may start at center. Besides that it's Sanders pg, baker sg, thiam SF, Freeman pf.
How SEC schools never wound up offering this kid, I have no idea. He looks like he is going to be another great LB pickup.
doucore looks like a big ten player in terms of size and strength. he will have an impact rebounding, but needs to learn how to play without fouling. today was a great learning experience for geo. had a few turnovers and shots blocked that would have been easy to execute in high school. he will figure it out. didnt see much of anything out of souf praying mike williams is okay. i thought it looked like a non-contact knee injury. freeman and sanders played great. corey shot the ball well. the team didnt rebound like we are used to seeing them rebound. they also struggled with SJUs talented guards. johnson and bullock did not play with the exception of mike getting hurt, i thought this was a great scrimmage. there were a lot of positives and A LOT of things for the team to work on in practice next week before the season starts.
Can we hire Jaaron as our coach? From the NJ.com article on recruit reactions to md win: Jaaron Hayek, ATH, Wayne (N.J.) Hills "Obviously, it was a big win, but I'd like to see them play not so conservative. Offensively, they need to spread it out and take chances more on first and second downs in the air to catch the defense off guard. Also, offensively they need to start taking chances to go for it on fourth down in games where you know you might have trouble moving the ball. Defensively, they need to work on covering underneath routes and work on linebacker pass coverages and also some more corner/safety blitzes. Rutgers is at top of list right now out of both the schools that have offered and haven't.
Sounds more like a SN poster than a coach though. You coach to your strengths & opposition's weaknesses. Why the f* would you throw against MD when you could run at will?
Thing is, by the numbers, Maryland's pass D sucks balls too. If we were going to attempt to throw on anyone it should have been MD. I can see your point if we spent most of the game up by two scores but we weren't and were actually behind for a while. I don't think any of our current QBs are capable of big play bombs for quick points but they are capable of throwing short routes for small piles of quick yardage. We're averaging 100 yards in the air a game. That was approximately the number against MD on Saturday. Against them it needed to be higher.
I think what he is saying is just run play action and try to catch them off guard a bit more often, not so much switch from a run based scheme to a passing scheme. Personally I am okay with the extreme run based approach against bad teams but I agree with what he is saying when RU plays teams like PSU. You have to take more risks against those types. Not turning the ball over isn't going to be the thing that beasts elite B1G teams.
I'd like us to play less conservatively as much as anyone, but it's so clear that we don't have the receivers to make plays or the QB to get them the ball consistently at this time. The QB battle during the spring is going to be legitimately exciting for the first time I can remember as an RU fan
It all comes down to we didn't have to..they may have the worst pass d in the big ten but we are starting arguably the worst qb in the big ten..is the pass d worse than our qb? I'm not sure so might as well not risk it. I'm down with going the safe route when comparing those factors.
I'd agree normally, but we've been winning games largely on the back of winning the TO battle and field position battle. It's been ugly but affective. We aren't a team that can come back from mistakes so we've chosen not to put ourselves in positions to make them in winnable games
I like how Friday decides to give a big fu to Rutgers fans by eliminating us but keeps in ucla who is basically guaranteed to fire their coach
Wish we could get bell..know he's a headcase but he'd probably be our #1 wr These NJ kids going to Maryland better pay attention.
I believe for every drop of rain that falls A flower grows I believe that somewhere in the darkest night A candle glows I believe for everyone that goes astray Someone will come to show the way I believe I believe
Looks like Markquese Bell failed out at Maryland and is now back on the market “Markquese is no longer part of the team or the university,” head coach DJ Durkin confirmed Tuesday at his weekly press conference. “I think Markquese is an outstanding young man, and I wish him nothing but the full best moving forward.”
Dohn posted that Bell was going to start for Maryland before he got into trouble and that it wasn't an academic issue. Got kicked out of the school for violating the student conduct policy, which could mean something like cheating
It doesn't matter, the game passed her years ago. She had a team full of McDonald's all-americans and 5 star recruits and didn't do shit
Playing Maryland will always remind me of this stupid game. We knocked their QB out and in comes some Napoleon Dynamite lookin motherfucker slinging it all over the field. Being 3-0 and #10 in the country made it even worse. Look at all the offensive weapons in that box score . http://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=272720164
I'm happy with our progress but against Barkley..I wouldn't take it. I'll be pretty surprised if he doesn't destroy some of our lb's tomorrow
Believe that's 2 years in a row we recovered the opening KO against Pedo St. Last year we drive and miss a FG. This year we make it.
"Penn State offensive personnel obviously more talented that rutgers defensive personnel"....as we force an opening punt. I can tell that I'm gonna wish these announcers get pegged with batteries fed into a pitching machine by the end of this game.
