I've got it, Tennessee needs a Sunday to Friday coach, a leader of men, a captain to right this ship, a man of great character and a low handicap
It’s hilarious that we have a significant contingent of this thread trying to argue that Schiano was a good choice by Currie. Absolutely fucking hilarious.
Dc at Wisconsin under Bert, I believe. Went to N Ill for a couple years before NC State. He was the coach that took N Ill to the Orange bowl
For NCST's sake I hope they let him walk. But for humor purposes I want him to turn down UT for NCST so give him a new deal NCST!
Also no way USF offered Schiano. They were Strong all the way because he came really cheap thanks to UT contract.
On page one, I'm a Trumptard for attempting to rationalize the Schiano hire, yet now he's a good coach and we should have just accepted him? Makes sense coming from the worst poster on this board.
He will definitely be a better choice than what they end up with, mainly due to reaction to his potential hire. I don't know that anyone is saying it was a good hire, but Tennessee isn't even going to make a mediocre hire right now.
Blaming the fans for their reaction to Currie’s terrible move is total BS to me. Think Barrett Sallee nailed it in his podcast on Monday.
If they'd have ended up with Brohm it would have seemed worth it. Doeren would just be awful and agree Schiano is a better hire. What's the aversion to Norvell? Have they called sitting power 5 coaches who apparently are looking to move ala Leach or Whittingham? There's probably so much rat poison associated with the job that those ships have maybe all sailed but they're not out of options here.
Schiano wasn’t a good hire and even with the current turmoil they have a chance to make a better hire. Norvell or Neal Brown would be much better hires. Tennessee won’t have the talent that UGA, Florida or bama has. They need to get an innovative offensive mind to try and make up for that. Both would have been solid hires from the start and would be great hires considering the current shitshow. To take Dave doeren is just dumb as fuck.
Best penmanship of any rock posting thus far. I believe this rock message board user may be “somebody” on campus. @Currie is probably going to have to chin their sacks.
Doern is throwing his name everywhere trying to pressure NC State into a new deal (or leave NC State) because this was State's year. They were extremely senior heavy and will be much worse next season.
I don't remember how all the TMB fans reacted, but there were plenty of KSU fans that were happy when he left.
My favorite part of this is how Tennessee fans have gone from wishing Lane was dead to all but erecting a statue of him. Meanwhile he continues to troll them and laugh at them like the rest of us but they don't care, they're just "ha ha yep we suck please come back you can do it in the butt and sleep around whatever you want it's fine"
None of those guys are going to Tennessee. The constant Leach references in this thread show how little people know about Leach.
That’s possibly true (although there is really no way to know) but that doesn’t mean Currie has handled this well. Just as the fact that UTenn has a bunch of hillbilly fans doesn’t mean they were wrong about Schiano. Given the gross incompetency of the UTenn Administration for many years now it’s not hard to see or to understand why the announcement of Schiano would cause the fan base to rise up. The fault here lies with the guy getting paid good money to lead the AD - not with the fans. At least IMO.
It's really been a perfect storm. 1. AD elects to not use search firm. 2. AD leads fans on that impossibility is possible. 3. AD learns that impossibility is, indeed, impossible. 4. AD panics. 4. Fans are shocked and dismayed that impossibility is impossible. 5. Clay Travis interlopes. 6. Fans weoponize social media. 7. AD panics again. 8. Repeat 2-8 ad nauseam.
Why does NC State have such a low opinion of itself? Do they not think they can do better? I bet Chad Morris would go to NC State.
I was shocked to find out that's an 800k offer. Supposedly it is what he wanted when they originally started negotiating. He was a candidate before they hired Doeren. He was really aggressive in terms of facility upgrades and it turned off State.
Will be interesting to see if FSU search affects Tennessee or if they are looking at a higher quality of candidate.
The potential FSU coordinator pool vs the potential Tennessee HC pool is where the competition is here
