Talking about a call up soon- his ERA is high but still belief that the White Sox have him trying things out of his comfort zone
Luis Robert signing is official. MLB.com puts him at #2 in the org rankings behind Moncada, but places him #27 overall in their top 100, which is behind Kopech and Giolito. A little confusing but still a lofty ranking imo.
the rich get richer. Add Eloy Jiminez and Dylan Cease to that list and you have the best system in baseball.
He's still in Vegas, I'm prob in the minority but I'm fine with it. He'd be up already if they were still in the race. He's only 21 and has like 550 AB's above A ball so it really won't hurt to wait until after the trade deadline imo.
White Sox just added Blake Rutherford as well. Do you still think the Braves have a better farm system?
Keith Law is lower on White Sox prospects than just about any evaluator out there. He doesn't have Luis Robert in the top 100 and doesn't have Moncada (the consensus #1 prospect) in the top 10.
How is this funny? I'm a Cubs fan and I'm saying the White Sox clearly have the best farm system in MLB. You're a braves fan saying the braves do. One is a biased opinion and one is not. Keith Law is probably the only talent evaluator in baseball who doesn't have Luis Robert or Blake Rutherford in the top 100 and Moncada outside of the top 10, so it wouldn't shock me that he has the Sox #2.
so someone saying the braves have the best system and using a well know talent evaluator to back up that opinion makes them biased?
No, but presenting the opinion of the most polarizing figure in the industry as fact could be considered bias. I'd wager that the vast majority have the White Sox #1. Not saying the Braves don't have a great system, because they do, but they are clearly number two right now IMO. Sox have the best two position players and the best pitcher.
lol you're a braves fan. You grew up watching a team that made the playoffs pretty much 15+ straight seasons. I've been a Cubs fan since childhood, didn't see them win a playoff series until I was in college, and it was the one right before Bartman. So the bandwagon argument might not be the best one for you.
Dumbest shit to argue about IMO. None of this really matters until you know if you have a Buxton or a Trout. He's just stating an opinion and he is a hipsterish fellow. He needs to generate excitement and conversation to keep his job relevant. Not advocating for Sox over Braves or anything like that because I honestly don't care. Both systems are awesome and in the top tier. I'm sure KL talks to more scouts in a day than most of us do in an entire lifetime.
Oh so your opinion is better than the guy who gets paid 4 million a year to write about prospects. Okay champ.
Pretty much. I know there are teams that just laugh at these rankings anyway. Every team has their own internal rankings and I know for a fact that they are significantly different from the ones we see in media. So basically both systems are great, I'd rather have the CWS farm, you'd rather have ATL, I bet that CWS wouldn't trade theirs with ATL and vice versa. Guess we'll wait and see in a few years.
No, but Keith Law is probably the most divisive figure out of everyone ranking prospects. Which can be good or bad. But he has Moncada like #13 or something which seems silly. At a certain point you're trying too hard.
This is what I was going to say while reading this whole page. White Sox have moncada who really has no faults besides K's, which as we can see with Judge, can easily be fixed and he can be a superstar quickly. If you want to compare Moncada to Acuna or Albies then most non-braves fans would certainly take Moncada at this point which favors the White Sox. And they have Top prospects that follow him. Braves have tremendous depth at pretty much every position with pitching being #1. The #10 pitching prospect (Wiegel or Sims) for the Braves would easily be ranked as another team's 3rd to 5th pitching prospect. So it's just a matter of opinion. Cubs went position prospects and won a world series, let's see how far the braves go in the next 3-6 years with mostly pitching prospects. Could be a disaster with how many Injuries pitchers get, we will have to see
Uh, yeah. Braves have the most fair-weather fanbase of them all. So few of their fans stick with them through tough times.
Will someone please post this? Or at least just the Reds part http://insider.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/22197478/keith-law-2018-ranking-all-30-farm-systems
My friend just sent me what the Reds thing, don’t bother. I honestly could’ve written a better write up than that
As a #Seattle Mariners fan, I'm going to go ahead an just click "Ignore Thread" for the next 3-5 years.
Helioy Ramos in town tomorrow night, maybe szapuki or however the hell you spell it will be pitching against him. Haven't seen it released
