I honestly can’t remember the last physical album I purchased. But I remember buying 10,000 Days, busting it out of the packaging, and flipping through all of the album artwork with the included lenses while the album played through my headphones. Kind of a throwback experience to how we used to listen to records. I’ll probably purchase a hard copy and break that 10yr streak.
Its done on their end. Maynard is pretty quick at writing lyrics and seemed kinda frustrated at the rest of the band for how much time they were taking. I bet he knocks the lyrics out pretty quick.
Will never forget seeing them for the first time. Show was supposed to be on a Tues night, but got pushed to Sat. because some assholes hijacked some planes and flew them into a couple buildings. The band wanted to play the show on 9/11, but obvious security concerns made them push it back.
came across this practice session of the fellas playing The Grudge, minus Maynard, seemed like something to post
If you want to hear a brief snippet of new Tool check out @Nergal69 's story on IG. Dude is the singer of Behemoth and was invited to a live rehearsal in the loft. It's only like 15 seconds long and at the very end of his story.
Have been listening to the Fibonacci sequence'd lateralus nonstop for a while now. It's so much better than the original track listings. I really think it was supposed to be played this way.
the alleged new song ...it autoplays for some reason so here is the link Code: https://www.reddit.com/r/ToolBand/comments/7tyldy/a_possible_new_song_played_at_rehearsal/

Adam then mentioned on IG that MJK is in town working on lyrics and that recording begins in April...
You can tell he's been frustrated with them. He said the same thing on Rogan's podacast a month or so ago.
This whole time I thought it was Maynard causing the delay. Must be real bad if he’s putting them on blast like that.
Also it's tool so who knows what can be taken seriously. This is the band that used to troll their fans annually on April 1
Unfortunately, I’m inclined to agree. There’s just no way it will live up to my expectations, even as I’ve tried to temper them.
Such is life, especially as we age. That said, everyone who has heard the new material has mentioned it being much heavier and having an Ænima feel to it which has me holding out hope
this seems to happen when every vaguely metal band that's aging is going to put out new material, though.
Adam Jones giving a March recording time. http://loudwire.com/tool-adam-jones-march-recording-start-new-album/
Bach had posted about his visit, stating, "This is not just your average simple rock and roll music. This is progressive metal at its most atmospheric and right when you get into a groovy trance you get beat over the head with riffs so heavy it feels like a TOOL." He added, "Some tunes were so pummeling it felt like I was getting a deep tissue massage. In fact they could call the record that. No song was shorter than seven minutes and some were 20 minutes long! Just my idea of how to spend the perfect day!" YASS
Per Adam's Instagram today was in fact the first day in the studio. It appears to actually, finally, be happening...
my first thought is that it will be like 10,000 days, where there are like 4 actual songs on the album
Suggestions on what, if anything, to ask tonight? Also in a very Tool move the "limited edition merch/memorabilia packs" that come with your ticket are being shipped to us instead of handed out at the event do to "logistical issues" and we're on the hook for the $20 shipping costs
Ask Adam about interest in side projects, since everybody else has done them. Could ask what they do with the tracks/ideas that don’t make the albums. Could ask about the genesis of the non-song tracks on the albums, and how those are created and chosen.
"Elephant in the room, what took so fucking long? Is it reasonable to expect 10+ years before another record or are you guys done at this point?"
I think it's been established that several lawsuits brought things to a halt for a long time. Plus they were never the most prolific to begin with and now have families and kids etc.
