I’d rather be riding outside by myself in an antisocial way that would never work. But it’s cold so I have to ride inside.
I like both. On one hand I love riding at the beach (I know this will sound corny) looking at the ocean and acknowledging it’s beauty and my small role in the world. It really makes me feel alive and understand I have a pretty good fucking life. On the other hand I like the convenience of my Peloton and the great workouts I get in such a relatively short time.
Got the bike yesterday, 2 rides in and loving it already. Just did a couple advanced beginner classes with Ally Love and Robin Arzon so far and while it was a bit challenging, I felt great after each. Seems like a decent starting point at least. Could probably do a 45, but I don't want to push it just yet. Really impressed with the bike itself though, so smooth and really does feel like its a rock solid quality. Can't stress enough how satisfied I am with the purchase in my extremely early stages.
I’ve been doing non-logged 5-10 minute rides over the last few days to test the Knee & all seems well, back in the saddle tonight for an easy 30
Did my first Tabata ride. The sense of dread when Jennifer said one minute until our last interval was strong.
Watson and bill the butcher are doing that to me on here. For some reason I am supposed to be ashamed that I own a Peloton and that I am competitive and enjoy our friendly competition on Strava.
Oh, and Drew's heckling was of the good natured variety not the I'm a miserable piece of shit with nothing else to do variety.
Damn Alex kicked my ass. Almost hit a PR on output. As a way of measuring I used the Orange Theory app to track an out of class workout. I earned like 30 points in the hour long workout last weekend. I earned 26 in the 31 minutes on the bike.
I did an advanced beginner Alex class today and it was definitely tougher than the other two I had tried. Think I may do some sort of scenic ride tonight to try one of those out, something relatively easy.
What’s everyone usual schedule look like? For now I think I’ve settled on: M: Off T: 45 min HIIT W: 45 min Power Zone T: 45 Min Tabata F: Off S: Hour scenic S: Hour endurance I will be changing up so I don’t fall into a big routine but I’m loving the current schedule. I’ll have to adjust once it warms up and I can begin running again.
M: ride my damn bike easy for 90 min T: ride my dam bike hard for 90 min W: ride my damn bike medium for 90 min T: ride my damn bike hard for 90 min F: maybe ride my damn bike, maybe not ride my damn bike S: ride my damn bike hard for 120-300 min S: ride my damn bike easy-medium for 90 min depending on Saturday ride
Did my first climb class. Luckily it was only 20 minutes. Think they're really missing out on the scenic rides having some sort of structure, resistance or programming of some sort, if that's even possible with the bike.
I didn't like the scenic ride at all, the speed not matching my output combined with that terrible music made it feel really cheesy. Could definitely use some tweaking for sure.
Thought I’d like them more. But I don’t like them at all. Funny thing is that in the showroom they were what got me to buy the bike. I usually turn down the music completely and just listen to my headphones. That helps a little bit.
I just use the scenic rides as a way to get a mellow ride in. I throw on a podcast and just do my thing.
The 15m venice one I tried was a video played twice. Couldn't get 15m of actual footage? Come on man....
What they should do is get some riders to do some famous/scenic trails/bike routes with a go pro, record the elevation changes and program rides with resistance and let you choose the difficulty like a smart trainer. Boom. Need to patent that idea.
That’s unrealistic unless I don’t run. My goal is 3000 and about 750 running. Will be wicked happy if I get those numbers.
My parental guidance units sprung a last minute visit on me yesterday. Got in last night and have not been able to get a ride in today. Tomorrow is gonna be a sufferfest if I plan on staying on track for my mileage this week.
Wife and I went to the Austin Peloton store yesterday. Looks like I'm going to make a sizable purchase this week. Who's in line to offer up a referral code?
I want some cool Peloton shirts and shorts, so if anyone wants to hurry up and buy bikes until I'm up on the rotation, that'd be awesome.
Out of curiosity, what kind of mileage do you guys log in a week? Do you do mainly classes, or do you do free rides as well?
My goal is 70-80 a week now, mainly through classes. I do the scenic rides on Saturday’s as a change of pace but the other four rides I do in a week are classes.
I'm also looking at 70-80 this week. I do classes only at this time, mostly b/c their scenic rides piss me off. I hate how they cut from scene to scene instead of a constant view like a long hill.
Did about 86 my first week, and I feel really good. Still only doing the 30m classes for the most part. I tried a 45m and it was a bit tough.
I try to get 120 miles a week. Right now mostly classes by “free rides” do you mean the scenic rides or outside rides? I don’t like the scenic ones that much. I just learned I need to get 3 spokes replaced on my bike before I go out and ride.
I would like to ride 100-120 miles per week. Got some hamstring pain after back-to-back weeks of 190+ miles total, but I also had dead legs when skiing. That's an undesirable scenario given the injury potential. I took a day off last week before skiing, and Peloton has really improved my ski endurance - tree skied powder all day without fatigue until tequila beckoned me to the bar at 3 pm. Looking to settle into 100ish per week after ski season, with hopefully some increased strength by then to mellow out the hamstring ache (if it isn't sciatica-related - bad lower disc).
Can’t stress how important a cool down ride is. Whenever I do one I feel 1000 times better. Need to make sure I do one every time I ride.
Work and kids have killed my mileage, but I shoot for 30-50 a week. I like to resistance train 3 day a week so that leaves 3 days for Peloton.
So I've never done any extensive biking and I'm still working my way towards 120 RPM and finding comfort in the right form, etc, but I'm surprisingly obsessed with this thing. The competition aspect is amazing.
