If anyone is really into food though China is a must. That's probably the #1 food country I've ever been to. Maybe that or Japan.
Friend from HS went to China to teach English and ended up staying. He lives in Guangzhou. Said it’s basically Chinese Atlanta. Guess that could be good or bad depending on one’s feelings towards Atlanta.
headed to Greece for the honeymoon. Going to Mykonos and Santorini. Have any of you ever been, and if so, do you any recommendations?
Is anyone doing a matress run for a free Wyndham night? Looks like I can get a free night for ~$70 with some Super 8 stays. But IDK if I need the points https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/hotel-deals/free-hotel-night
I was in Guangzhou and Haining for a week and I never saw the sun. The pollution and air quality was insane.
Do you have your lodging booked? I'd suggest staying in Oia in Santorini if not. Quieter than Fira but would be much more romantic. Unless you guys are looking to go out and party, but you can get your fill of that on Mykonos.
This United story is so hilarious. Essentially forcing the employees to buy $300 in lotto tickets https://thepointsguy.com/2018/03/united-cutting-employee-bonuses/
Whoa if someone goes to all this trouble I might as well sign in and reply. Late March will be much warmer in Hong Kong compared to Beijing, so I would probably want to spend a bit more time north in Beijing. No visa needed for HK or Macao, but you will still need to pass customs again coming from Beijing. For HK, try to get up to the Peak for a view at night. Other popular places for visitors include the following. 1-The Big Buddha on Lantau Island, which also has vegetarian restaurants and a Buddhist monastery. 2-Wong Tai Sin Temple. 3-Stanley Market 4-Night Markets, Kowloon. 5-Tai O Fishing Village, this is pretty far away so definitely check online to see if the time involved makes it look worthwhile. For dining, you should try some dim sum/yum cha, the Maxim's by City Hall in Central is reliable. For nightlife in Central you have LKF or the area around the escalator, and Wan Chai also on HK Island. TST on Kowloon side also has a lot of bars. You should try to get over to Macau for a day just for the food even if you are not into casinos or gambling. Many good places to choose from, but I would usually bring visitors to Fernando's at Hac Sa Beach, but note it is cash only. If you have more specific questions just let me know.
Finally getting to sit down and read this and this is amazing! I might have follow up questions so be on the look out for me sliding into your DMs.
Anyone flown Austrian or Swiss airlines before? Just like our last trip the gf is now panicking about baggage again. We carried on last year but our rollers just barely fit in Wow's test thing to get it past the gate. She's convinced they're going to weigh our bags because Austrian's website says 8 kg max for carry on
I highly doubt Austrian or Swiss would be that strict on baggage. They aren't low cost carriers like wow who nickle and dime.
Thanks man. We are pretty limited on the dates we can travel and unfortunately those aren’t included in the link you posted. I appreciate you posting it though.
Anyone done Chicago for St. Patrick's Day? We are heading up there Friday through Sunday (March 16-18) for a bachelor party. I don't think anyone has done any research aside from everyone booking flights and one guy getting an AirBnb.
Think lots has already expired but we've seen these often before and I always hear Hawaii is a great points destination. Plan to go next January or February and have like 200k chase points. So when they discount prices do the points usually drop too?
I don't have a lot as I had friends living there at the time so we just did what everyone else was doing. We went to a comedy show at zanies Thursday night which was great, Friday did some semi touristy stuff like the hancock building, Chicago beef, pizza etc. Went out but don't really know where. Saturday for St Pat's we went to a party at a place called the derby from 10 am to 2 pm that was a lot of fun. Then most of us blacked out and ended up in wrigleville for the rest of the day/night
I typically haven't noticed the points drop when prices do. This past winter United ran a special for Hawaii trips early this year, think it was a 20% discount on points bookings
Sluggers is so much fun, have no idea how somebody hasn't gotten nailed by one of those fastballs and sued the place. It seems like they get up to at least 80-85 mph.
When booking through the reserve portal you always just pay 66% of the cash value in points. So as the flight deals come up and flight x drops down to 450 bucks your points needed drop accordingly to 30,000
Booking through Chase is awesome--when they have all available flights. Every time I look they only have 50-60% of the flights available of Google or Kayak.
I've been to Guangzhou. He'd obviously know better than me, and I can see where he's coming from with regards to location and climate. That said, it seemed far more industrial to me than Atlanta.
Anyone have any experience with Allianz travel insurance ? Cliffs: So I just back from Jamaica and had been fortunate enough to have my shoulder dislocated playing volleyball the second day I was there. It's an old injury. But me old lady apparently purchased travel insurance before we left. Supposedly covers 25k in medical bills after your insurance. Allianz wants me to contact BCBS. BCBS says this is their tab to pay.
Anyone been to La Spezia in Italy? Looking to do a couple nights there this summer with a decent sized group (8). Mainly looking into lodging options at the moment.
Far points are very good but my ula Camino 2 is better. Couple guys here have Caminos and some have farpoints. Not sure what else everyone has
Osprey Porter checking in. The new Porter with the laptop sleeve looks tight. I think you can't go wrong with any Osprey
They said it’s supposed to be beautiful but they haven’t been there. They said it’s probably better to go there in the summer than in winter though
some nice pricing to the Azores https://www.delta.com/content/www/e...n=EM_MKTG_FARE_RI_180307_AA900039_A01A_P0_PRI
Azores deals come up a lot. Been watching them for two years wishing I could buy one. Someone should do it, have some friends who have gone and loved it
