I would have rather the jags pick the guard but I don’t mind the pick. Got a player with a lot of upside for a position they’ll need in a year or so. Nice to be able to finally be able to make a pick and not need that person to come in and contribute day one.
I don't think the 1010 guys liked the pick all that much either but they know better than to shit on a fellow Gator.
Dareus Campbell and Jackson are all gone in the next year or two so I sort of understand defensive line, this guy just reminds me so much of Tyson Alualu based on my very limited research on him. It also doesn’t make much impact for 2018 which is our best chance to make some noise with the current roster.
Alualu at 29 would be great. This guy appears to have a lower floor and higher ceiling. It’s just weird that he hardly played before this year and didn’t have amazing talent in front of him at that time. I would’ve preferred Lamar, Landry or Hernandez significantly more, but we all knew Coughlin was never taking Lamar.
I'm not going into his talent too much. He showed flashes of being a top-10 pick last season, and disappeared in others(as has been mentioned). I'm not entirely writing that off as basically the entire team having quit by season's end but I'm sure plenty of kids on that team with draft aspirations were playing to just not get injured by the time/once Mac was officially gone. As for playing time, he RS'd his Fr year, was a backup behind Jon Bullard and Bryan Cox his rFr year, started a couple games, but was in constant rotation with Caleb Brantley and Cox his rSo year, and then started last year. He walked onto UF's campus at 250lbs and having largely played OL in high school.
And the fact that he played as well as he did without a legit college S&C program for most of his college careee should be the most impressive
That pick was in within a couple minutes of Jags being on the clock. They clearly had a pretty high grade on the guy. Great athlete for such a big guy at a position where we will have a need next year. He's a total Coughlin guy. This front office has done a crazy good job of identifying talent so I will trust them that Bryan is a good pick. Plus, the only other position I would have drafted was TE or OL (the fact that every team passed on Jackson speaks volumes). I bet we will have the opportunity to draft a decent TE or OL in the second round.
We’re finally at a point where we’re not in desperate need of bodies at multiple positions. I’d be cool with moving up to get a guy toward the top of this round, and being down a pick because of it.
Was hoping that Hurst would have been available at 29. Would have loved seeing a Gamecock and local guy play for the Jags.
This was obviously a “best available” draft for Coughlin. I like all of the players taken, but none were in immediate spots of need.
I have seen nothing but positive reviews of that pick. Barry Church can be cut penalty free after this year so if he is ready to start in 2019 we can save some cash. Bryan also gives us flexibility in 19. We could target some pretty big free agents next year if we want.
So we would like more depth. Not exactly a need. They like Brown and added another LB late in the draft.
you have to consider yourself blessed when . you can draft the leading tackler on Alabama in the 3rd round . Ronnie Harrison is a steal .
Quenton Meeks has a shot too. Still unsure who is replacing Colvin and he may fit the bill. Many had him going in the 4th.
Ronnie Harrison will play nickle he had 74 tacjkles for Alabama last year tied on the team for leading tackler . long arms , fast , monster headhunter .
any time one said player can tie for the leading tackler from playing 2 different safety positions . welp u good duval .
Everyone is reporting that a stipulation to his signing was that we didn’t pick up any more WR’s. Doubt they’re moving him, at least for now. Also, they just cut nortman which gives the team another 2+ million in cap space.
You are going to have to change your fan of section for continued use of "we." But, yes, they signed Hayden. Hopefully he is a decent replacement.
If they could articulate why they were doing it in any way, I wouldn't care. But fuck this shit, just a distraction to be a distraction
That’s my issue. The protest served its purpose. It raise awareness of the issue. There are other mans of raising awareness.
It is the appropriate thread since our stars decided to stay in the locker room during the anthem. It potential ruins shit including this thread.
I believe you’re doing that all on your own. Sounds like Blake played well and I’ve heard good things about his work this offseason. Hopefully he’s not drinking himself into a stupor quite as much this year.
