Shocking UF agreed to play in Tampa. Never thought I'd see the day they would play a road game vs anyone other than UM or FSU.
Except it isn't a road game. It's a UF home game in a place they have had neutral games before ( including vs Miami in the 80's ). But, yeh, I know what you mean.
The 2018 CFB season begins 3 months from today! Hawaii v Colorado State, 8/25, plus a smattering if other games.
As someone who lives in the west and went to a B1G school, I'm pretty sure I've watched more college football than the CFP committee the past 4 years. 9 AM-12 AM is quite the day.
http://www.mattsarzsports.com/Schedule/Weekly/football2018/0#.WwjhhS_MwWo I thoroughly enjoy he calls it Week 0.
YES! I spent the last 4 seasons in Las Vegas. Went to FSU. CFB from 9:00 AM till almost midnight every Saturday. Really it’s the dream time zone for college football fans.
I miss when B1G-Pac-12 was going to have an annual intersection game. Beats the shit out of playing Pitt.
I thought there was an objection before that, from a Pac school or two? Really would have helped their fledgling conference network.
http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...big-ten-conferences-call-football-partnership That was 12 days before the sanctions dropped on PSU fwiw
I liked it better when we were at 12, PSU and Nebraska were "permanent rivals." Went to Lincoln in 2012, some nice Husker fan gave me a runza. UMD and Rutgers are a bit less hospitable.
I first experienced this when I was in Seattle for the end of the 2017 playoffs. It was just weird having the SH end at 7 PM local, and still having time to do things after the game.
A lot of early morning adult beverages are consumed on those Saturdays, not sure what to do with my hands in the offseason when 10am hits here on Saturday’s
The Tar Heels-Tigers game will be the third Chick-fil-A Kickoff game played in 2020 as part of a multi-week celebration of college football in Atlanta. West Virginia will play Florida State on Sept. 5 and Georgia will meet Virginia on Monday night, Sept. 7.
Zero doubt that we will lose this game. 1) We may never win in that stadium. 2) We are intent on making our even years impossible. EDIT: But then again, Bo Nix needs to kickoff his second straight Heisman run somehow.
I love me some football, but I have no desire to watch any of those games. I'll likely watch them, tho. I'm just saying.
North Carolina seems like a pretty tame team to schedule for an even year. We have to play another power 5 team, and I don’t know if Oregon State, Rutgers, Iowa State, Kansas, Indiana, etc. are lining up for a neutral site game with us in Atlanta(I wouldn’t really want to play those teams anyways) I just hate neutral site games.
Good matchup. 1. It's not Clemson again. 2. UNC has a big alumni base in Atlanta too. 3. It's an easily winnable game 4. 2nd weekend of the season so it's the kickoff after dinner mint and gives Gus a cupcake week one to figure out his meds.
I can't imagine one of S. Miss or UMass not being moved or replaced for that year. And how in the hell did y'all have 2 non conf Nov games anyways
This fits here. “Neutral-site games really launched our program in Alabama when we first came there years ago,” Saban said. “But I think philosophically we’re sort of changing our thoughts on that and our future scheduling and trying to get more home-and-homes, which leads me to talk about what we need to do scheduling-wise. “I’ve always been an advocate of playing all Power Five schools. I think we need to get – have more really, really good games on TV for the players. We can’t have fans who pay a lot of money for tickets and boxes and loges who support our programs to pay for games that no one is interested in watching. “I’ve heard [Alabama athletic director] Greg [Byrne] talk about the fact that we don’t want to play nine SEC games, but I’ve always been an advocate of playing nine or 10 SEC games and a couple other games against some other good opponents that everybody would be happy to watch.” So it’s not like Nick Saban is scared of a difficult schedule. But he’s also not going to unilaterally take on a dozen Power Five opponents if nobody else is on board.
