It’s Flower or Ovi imo. Only 3/4 of the returns in though. A consistent Final hero can get in the convo.
Conference finals should mean both teams are good. At this stage I would argue a 4-0 at home loss after a blowout loss in game 6 is worse than either of those but i won’t argue that the caps fanbase as a whole has had more heartbreak than any as of late.
Have had the flu all week and haven't slept over 30 minutes at a time. Felt better today and am drinking and don't plan to sleep much again, thankfully tomorrow is my Friday.
Pens dominated the majority of the 2016 ECF but Bolts got enough breaks/good rushes to have a 3-2 series lead as well. Game 7 loss was completely different this time but if they convert a chance or two late 1st/early 2nd it's different. Of course that was without Stamkos for essentially the entire playoffs.
this is gonna be America vs. the hockey fans America will want Vegas to win because who wouldn't but then hockey fans will want Caps to win for Ovi and the implication of a 1st year franchise winning the Cup this soon would look bad for the league
fuck off with this trophy nonsense we got swept by Detroit because they were an all star team that nobody had a chance to beat, thankfully the salary cap era happened
The better team won the series, full props to the Caps. Vasy got us an extra game we didn't deserve when he stole game 4. I thought Boston was the best team in the east this year and after getting by them in 5 I thought the only possible derailment to a cup was Nashville or Winnipeg. Caps played a hell of a series and really controlled the 5 on 5 play for the most part. The Caps had something to do with it, but not sure what happened to the team that outplayed Boston by a good margin. It just didn't look like the same intensity was there and certainly not the execution. It was very disappointing to watch, probably moreso than any other playoff series loss. The Caps really neutralized our forecheck and clogged up the neutral zone. When they got a lead they really shut things down. Kucherov played the worst series of his career, just was never a consistent threat in the 7 games. Stamkos disappointed too but I thought Kuch was just abysmal at times. We should be a top contender again next year with most of the pieces back, but Yzerman probably needs to make a few moves to retool the roster a bit and also start looking ahead to the 2019 offseason when Kucherov, Vasy, and Point are up for new deals. We've got good prospects in the pipeline and some should be ready to crack the roster pretty soon so it wouldn't surprise me if one or two of the secondary guys that have been through the deep runs over the last 4 years are moved.
Caps were clearly the better team all series, but things were looking promising for Tampa in game 7 though until that 2nd goal. Not scoring 1 goal in 2 straight elimination games is fucking pathetic.
VGK and Washington is such a better matchup than Winnipeg Tampa. Legitimately excited for this series
Figured y'all are invested so update they broke her water at 4am at 3 cm dilated. Falling asleep listening to my daughter's heart beat on the speaker
I could see the Pens vs Vegas as another option, because the evil Crosby against the miracle team would bring in casuals.
Not sure Vegas is good for the tv networks. It’s a great story but they aren’t a big market. Chicago is the team NBC wants from the West each year. Chicago vs the rangers is probably The matchup if NBC got to pick
The story is really big. My mom who doesn’t watch sports called me the day after Vegas won to see when the SCF start. I think game one will do a big number.
Yeah TV wise it has to be this. Also Det, Pitt, Philly, Bos are good draws for sure. Tampa-Win was worst case.
Stamkos ended the year with 1 even strength goal in his last 29 games. Kucherov had 7 in his final 37 games. People who don’t watch every game might have been surprise by their lack of production but the last 10-20 games going into the playoffs showed that teams figured them out together and they weren’t having success even strength. Will be interesting to see if the lightning switch out some other players and try and build 2 seperate lines around them.
I think people are stupid if you dont think Vegas is a big enough story to bring in the numbers no matter if Vegas is a “small” market, it is a national market.
God the pre game show for game one is going to be so fucking absurd. All I ask is that the finale of the show is David Copperfield making Mike Milbury disappear.
I just realized that Washington has to get through fleury to win a cup. God that’ll be hilarious if he prevents ovechkin from winning one
