Have a question. Can’t make it a poll so jus please answer honestly . What do you guys think of neck tattoos. I’ve wanted mine done for as long as I can remember but I am have reservations about getting it done. Biggest issues are pain and perception. For the record I have my hands knuckles and thumbs done so I am past the point of being able to hide my work. My job won’t be impacted at all. Just trying to get others thoughts from you guys. My neck appointment is for June 12th.
My friend's biggest regret is his knuckles. He has to have at least 10 tattoos, but his knuckles he feels casts him in negative light. And it's his son's name. So neck tat. I dunno. I never even remotely thought of doing it until getting my arm done. Now I'm looking at ideas albeit very sutle. Which if I'm being honest will never happen
I can’t say I regret my hands. I actually am very happy I got them I just know the neck has a different stigma attached. Feed back from people who like tattoos is what I what. So thanks.
You do you man. If the wife, job, etc are all good with it too, why shouldn’t you do it if that’s what you want?
Like I said the pain is my biggest hang up right now although my artist told me the thumbs are more painful. I am 99% sure I am going to get it just looking for some honest none douche feed back I figured this would be the perfect thread for it. Honestly my 13 year old is the only one against it
How against it? If it will possibly strain a relationship, even if for just a short time, maybe you should consider postponing for a bit?
Honestly I don’t know how much nor why she is. I’ve been heavily tattooed all her life. It feels like a teenager I can’t like what my dad does type of thing. We have a good relationship so I don’t want to hurt that.
Rex Holloway in ATL at Live Free. He's done a few of my tattoos https://www.instagram.com/the_lonesome_wolf/
I wish I could say that I don’t initially judge someone for neck tattoos but I do. I have the initial same thoughts with face/hands/knuckles. Whether it’s true or not, I perceive it as being short sighted.
Not getting the throat just side. Also making sure he uses a lot of negative space so it doesn’t look like I have a permanent turtleneck on
"One more session" they said... Lol I now have 2 more to finish. The Valkyrie and Morrighan set for September lol. And Artio hopefully will be done before july.
I would at least give this some serious consideration. For me I had a larger piece that was a cover up, but I had talked with my guy ahead of time about how I felt like I would ultimately want to go to 3/4; this allowed him to design it so we would have a natural flow. We finished the first piece and then just went right into the rest of the arm. If you think the piece will be tied together this just makes sense to me; if you are going the route of single items that get woven together then I would focus on just the piece.
Wasn’t sure what to call it. I’ll end up getting a big shoulder piece. Unfortunately I can’t get a full sleeve.
I've always felt half sleeve is wrist-elbow or elbow-shoulder. 1/4 I feel like would be an extended shoulder piece that goes halfway down your Bi/Tri
That’s a half sleeve. Someone told me a while back that a sleeve from wrist to elbow is called a quarter sleeve Although I’ve always agreed with this logic
Michelangelo would create his sculptures by looking at the piece of marble and seeing what looked like it was trying to escape from the rock
I don't have any tats and prob won't get any. I do like art and alternative stuff though so I think about it sometimes. Was recently thinking designs from this would make a cool tat going up and down the arm (It's the cave painting from Lascaux, France believed to be among the oldest artwork on earth. The prevailing theory is they drew the animals as part of a "magic" ritual, believing if you draw the animal it summons them or blesses your fortune on the hunt. So to me it represents an art is magic, mystical power of images kind of thing)
Thanks! If I had time I wouldve been able to actually mock it up in Photoshop and run it by the artists but since I trusted the 2 artists to do their own thing is let it ride. The only thing is I'd have positioned the Valkyrie and Morrighan differently so I could add more detail. But overall IDGAF I'm happy. Still will have 2 more dates to get shit done but I have a feeling it'll be 3-4 lol. I have a feeling I'm putting a wolf on the inside of my bicep meow
I have one (text) on one forearm so technically I could get one, but I have a big one in my inner bicep on my other arm so I’m not sure how to add on without covering either up
This thread has really piqued my interest in ink. I’ve always admired the look and think y’all have some really nice work. I think I’m too chicken to get it done, but I’d love a quarter sleeve. Problem is I don’t have any idea about what I’d get, other than lame stuff related to family, sports, literature or music.
I’m literally going for the art aspect (dotwork/geometrical). Doesn’t always have to be significant, just as long as you believe that tattooing is an art (it is), and you can find some sort of work that you would admire.
That makes sense. I just feel like if I’m (me, personally) going to go through with it, I want to be fully invested.
I picked 3 notable characters based on old mythology from my heritage. German - Artio (Gaul Bear Goddess) Irish - Morrighan (Celtic Phantom Queen) Swedish - Valkyrie (Norse Chooser of the slain) Also plays on other personal things in my life and reasons I chose them
I knew of the last two and that they were war Goddesses. Pretty cool shit. Couldnt do the Pagan thing myself. Im toying around with getting these water color painting of a rhino and a lion for my kids. Already have two that cover shoulder to elbow and not sure where else to get them.
