You’re the best. This is also very handy for me, I took off the week of the 4th and M-W the following week. Will be home for every knockout match. Can’t wait
Oh didn’t realize Carlos Vela decided to return to the fold Shit they may get out of the group and actually win a knockout round match
I wish I had a Nielsen box just so I could watch none of the tournament on Fox. Fuck them and their El Tri bullshit. I hope their ratings are fucking terrible.
why are you so mad? they have to try and get viewers after the USMNT tripped on their dicks. why not go after the second biggest fan base in this country?
Will that demographic not watch it without advertising? And aren't you probably alienating several diehard US fans as there is technically a rivalry?
why wouldn't fox advertise the hell out of a product they've invested billions in acquiring? no, they aren't. are they supposed to pretend like the USMNT made the tournament?
Why wouldn't they try to get people that aren't most likely going to watch it anyway....clearly they have alienated them or this wouldn't be a topic
Yeah fuck Mexico. "America's other team" Nah more like the 32nd favorite team in the tournament if you are USMNT supporter. Stupid ass fox and si
As a Notre Dame fan, I always root for Michigan when Notre Dame isn't involved. I never wish death on them and their fanbase.
They had an ad out about rooting for heritage or something like that a month ago. Guess the traction from it wasnt enough.
Doesn’t get much more American than a television broadcast network attempting to drive up ratings tbqh iyam
you would think a bunch of red blooded americans would love nothing more than exploiting people's biases in order to get them to consume their product
I’ll never understand Americans supporting countries such as Germany, France, etc. You aren’t from there. That being said, who cares if Fox promotes the Mexican team. The US didn’t qualify and there’s a bunch of Mexicans living in the United States.
99% of those Mexicans will be watching in Spanish, which makes it stupid for Fox to even try to appeal to them
What el pato said. This advertising accomplishes nothing for them but pissing of USMNT fans. Hell, Lalas admitted on ETR that he agreed to be a part of it because he wanted to be a troll. There was 2 obvious options to me. Go hard with the 23andme partnership and “root for your heritage”. Or just go with the most obvious and promote the hell out of the stars. Everyone knows Messi, Ronaldo, Salah, Neymar, commercial after commercial with their faces would draw up much more interest.
I don't understand this. Your heritage isn't just tied to one country. What if you were born in America but your parents were both from Germany. You're not allowed to root for Germany in this World Cup?
Exactly. I was born in Germany and half of my family lives there. I root for USMNT first but Germany is a close second.
if your parents are immigrants or you were born there like Cousin Eddie that is one thing and I get it, but there are people I know who root for Italy over the US because their great-great grandparents were from Italy. that's moronic and front-running. most of the people I know who root for teams over the US "because of heritage" will admit it's mainly because they think the US doesn't have a realistic shot to win so they want to root for a team that does.
I root for the US first and foremost but I also strongly support Japan (grandma is from there). Basically I have no rooting interests by the QF and just want good matchups
