Kid is racking up FCS offers. Makes the staff look bad more than anyone that they take a kid 2 years in advance with no P5 offers. Maybe it’s because other schools feel like he is such a Rutgers lock...
He turned on a dime the second hester decided he knew better than a medical staff. Hester must've been one of his primary connections/insider info guys on the team /friends because..they were blowing each other or something? Idk.. I'm kinda hazy on the details of that last part. But it's comical to say the least.
I don't really care about Rondi. And I agree that Nelms is raw. But he's a big offer kid and that matters for perception. Did we tell him off? Is this one of those bullshit soft commits that means nothing?
I just wanna know how Pitt got eight commits this weekend with exactly one being a CB for pitt I mean this is just pathetic. I have faith in McNulty and sitkowski to get us close to six wins this year. But if ash starts playing his "play safe" game against Ohio State in game two, I think I'm gonna hate the man. I either want to win the game, keep it close (as in within ten not within 25), or see sitkowski throw 3-4 int because it means we were trying.
A kid like Nelms should've been pressed to commit a while ago. The odd thing is - this has been the best "recruiting" staff under Ash. Maybe Ash needs to learn the ABCs real fast
he is a defensive coordinate that wants to watch film and game plan. he is not a ceo as much as he may try.
Nelms to Pitt is just pathetic. Kid is a project who can’t help for 2-3 years anyway but I was waiting for his commitment any day. The dude sells zero vision and idk what his pitch is besides “I know you the best”. Works very hard but you also need to work smart.
yea, I think Ash is a good coach and I like how he changed the culture around but he definitely lacks what guys like Schiano, Fleck etc. have. I think its crucial as a power 5 HC of a smaller, non-established program to be able to take over a room at a speaking event and be able sell kids individually in a way the elevates the program in their eyes. It's the thing I appreciated about Schiano the most, moreso than anything actually football related.
He's pretty good. I think he's a bit stiff for safety but he has big time potential at OLB and really good length for the position. His ceiling is really high and I liked his hudl.
Basically this. He has the potential to blow up in the fall. Need to have him sign early. I liked him on tape a lot and I like him much more than the other LB commit from a North Jersey private school with a mediocre junior tape.
Someone give me cliffs on the 3 players that committed. Solid/unexpected? Or flood era diamonds in the rough ?
I've barely followed recruiting but all three stars with multiple power 5 offers so not very Floodish
He's not really a hun guy...only there this year. Supposedly he's only played football for two yrs, didn't really lift in a college program and was a baseball/basketball guy. But the #16 recruit in NJ per 247 looks pretty good on paper Anyone think he could be an OL down the line?
How many LBs can we take? I'll take Ugwu for #3, over Kamara, Toure, SIllah. Don't really like Conti but at least he's not Eric Margolis.
Hanson is raw but athletic with a lot of upside. Plays LAX at like 260-280. The African kid (can’t spell his name) is a major pick up I don’t watch film of kids from The Hun school because they don’t pan out and don’t come here so I am blown away he committed. Need to watch his film, great size though.
All 3 of the commits are good pickups imo and not what I would consider to be Flood Specials. The LB/S from Mass I mentioned has great upside and is really long at 6'4 216. Hanson is a good guard prospect, like Skoolie said, he's definitely raw but is fairly athletic and seems to be a bit of a mauler. The TE is a total wildcard but has physical upside and some natural talent which pairs well with being 6'7 240. If he blows up in weight due to solely training for football now he could also be a tackle prospect.
Also happy with the 3. I have so much more trust in Ash and Parker to develop these kids compared to Flood, I’ll take the raw but upside all day if we aren’t no getting the 3&4 stars. It’s why so many posters had unrealistic expectations for Ash’s first couple years. Even if he is recruiting “talent,” it’s the type that needs to be developed to where they contribute in college football. Hope we get Young (talent) this weekend and Mckenzie (because it seems inevitable), this weekend
What Commit Watch Bobby Deren 19009 posts 36 minutes agoVIP Tonight, the commit watch will be a literal thing. I will be attending a party at Chris Ash's house and if something is up I am sure I will be able to see it with my own eyes as all the assistant coaches are expected to be there as well. This brings a whole new meaning to commit watch!
It was deleted lol. I think it was just a weird way of saying that if any coach got a phone call he would see it
Yea. He obviously meant if a coach got a call he would see it. But it was still weird. Why is Bobby Deren going to a party at ashes house? If nothing else it should show how tied in he is
So I like the Deveny kid and I am surprised he didn't pick up a late offer last year from someone. His senior tape is pretty decent and he looks like a massive old school TE, I don't think he's a future OT but more of a #2 TE. That's a pretty good pick up IMO and he had offers from multiple P5 schools. Devera I am not terribly high on but he made some nice plays on his film and is just as stiff as his bro, but you can get away with stiffness at TE.
Agree with this and supposedly Devera is a little less stiff than what he showed on tape last year, hence getting the offer.
I like how the staff not only is letting us look bad by recruiting a marginal prospect like greico, but they're going the distance by continuing to recruit this little fuck whose parents obviously despise RU so that we get the full blown egg on our face of "losing a recruit to army". What in the actual fuck is wrong with our staff?
And yet he's treating the kid like he's a 4 star he can't replace. Get any random Florida kid and I promise I'll like him better than greico. Conti is one token slow white kid too many already (even if he reportedly looked good at the camp this past week)....we just need sitkowski to be as advertised, put together two winning seasons, and ash can leave to some school that thinks he pulled off a miracle and we can find a coach with more than the three emotions consisting of content, displeased, and "oops I just farted". Need someone with personality to close. In other news..AJ Blazek is the uncle of that random 5 star basketball recruit who visited..neat.
Ash is looking like a pretty average recruiter to me. He has had some things working against him but he hasn’t exactly helped himself either.
