Joined the 405 club tonight on Deadlift...I usually take the summer off from lifting heavy and play softball/golf a few nights a week but feels good to know I still have some juice in the tank.
I struggle getting a true "close" grip. I move in a few inches, but after that it gets painful. Multi grip bar may be my next purchase.
I go pinkies on the rings so I’m kind of a “close”-er bencher. Everyone I can think of that benches over 600 benches pinkies on, or inside, the rings so that’s enough bro-science for me.
what do yall do when you have to be on the road for an extended amount of time? will be away for 3 weeks but don’t want to melt into a fine jelly between now and then
I try and stay at a place with a decent hotel gym. Otherwise I look for gyms in the town I am staying that have a daily or weekly rate based on how long I am there to get my workouts in.
I try to find a powerlifting focused gym around there. Or at least a Y with good enough equipment Where are you going? I may know of a good spot
This. Most gyms will let you drop in, especially if it is in the morning. Major cities it is obviously easier
i travel a decent amount and havent had any trouble finding local gyms. most have a daily fee $5-$10. although the Gold’s where im at right now in Long Beach want $25 for a single day, CT Fletchers gym was only $10. many gyms also employ dumb people, theres a decent chance you could just walk in and start lifting without anyone stopping you.
After working 60+ hours not including deadheading to Philly 4x last week. Then working 28 hours the past 2 days I pulled 585 easy. It was slower than normal. So I tried 615 and choked after pulling it 1/4.
Tried something new with Standing Calf Raises today, Started at highest weight we could do at least 10 times. (300 is the full stack on the machine) did that 26 times until I could not lift it up anymore, dropped 40 pounds, again til could not lift it anymore etc..etc.. until we hit 100 reps, was down to 60 lbs, but felt like a really good burn on the muscle. hopefully I can walk tomorrow lol. Really been happy with my leg day Squats Squat Press Machine Calf Raises Leg Extensions Leg Curls Deadlift
Went back to tracking my macros and realized I've been so tired (despite 8hr sleep) because 3 lifting sessions + 5 jiu jitsu sessions a week means I should be eating a shitload more. Eating better this week and it's definitely helped the lifts and not being in zombie mode
This is the meet Where Eagles Dare and I are doing. An Olympian, 2 800+ squatters, and multiple national champs. Should be a fun meet.
Squatted 355 this morning with no problem. Think 365/370 is in play. Makes getting to 1,000 lbs a lot easier for me since my bench press is so garbage.
I think I mentioned this before, but I take the summer off from lifting a lot and play rec sports with the occasional HIIT class thrown in there. June 1st I started doing 100 push ups a night for a little extra and I am amazed at how much better I feel and honestly, how much stronger I am. Was messing around last night and benched 225 five more times than I ever have.
Finally pulled 405 double overhand, no straps, no belt last night. Felt nice. I’d been working my hook grip up to it for awhile now.
Conventional, right? Do you feel stronger without a belt? I do and I’m wondering if that’s more normal than I realize.
Yeah, conventional. And you know, I’m not sure if I feel stronger without a belt or not. I certainly don’t feel weaker without one.
Just saw my coach threw a second day of curls into my peaking block. AMA about competing at the highest level of bodybuilding
Benching 250 felt like 350. I can ohp but I can't do any dips. Hopefully next week everything will be better.
i havent lifted in over a week. unplanned, but i needed to get over some hip/ham/back tightness anyways. plan to go in tomorrow
I weigh the same, but am no where near those weights. The only way I can reconcile this is that you are a legal midget to shorten your ROM and increase muscle density.
That's about my weight at 5'11. 1000 is a goal for me, I need a good squat partner to get there though. Just have no confidence in doing anything over 275 by myself. Less drinking would probably help too
Man this is something I’ve thought about a lot. There have been times I’ve walked in *knowing* I’ll hit a number and I’ll crush it. If I walk in and think “shit I need a spotter” “I better set these pins right” I’ll either fail or it’ll move terribly. Mental prep is just as important as physical prep
First time I ever squatted was as a like 130 pound runt early in high school. My buddy was all hey you can do 225 easily, no warmup or lower weight first, dropped that shit right away. Took me a while to get over that.

Moving tomorrow to another part of town and luckily this place just opened. I don’t think I’ll miss my old gym. https://www.instagram.com/wcstrength.official
so just getting back into weightlifting after doing crossfit for a while (I know..) anyone have a good full body program right now? Looking for a 3-4 full body lifts a week combined with yoga, but also open to a normal split if it's a good program. Not trying to increase strength, just overall fitness
As horrified as I am by the last sentence, just do some sort of bench press, squat, deadlift, row, and then isolation exercises for whatever body part you want to prioritize
Was extremely hungover yesterday and lifting and running weren't happening so just did a ton of medicine ball squats and lunges to not feel like a complete lazy shit, they somehow gave me a level of soreness I haven't felt in quite a while.
Weight loss is really starting to hamper my lifting Mainly my shoulder strength, right now. Jerks suck and feeling week overhead on heavy snatches. Really only area I'm feeling regression. I'm 6lbs away from weight. 4 weeks left
Nah, I should be easily under. I hope to ramp. Calories up next week and try to cruise in right about on it. I don't have to weigh in until 1pm. I cut enough weight in HS wrestling. I have little desire to do that
Not sure why I'm such an asshole and dont avoid benching. Benched at home. 280 4x4 was terrible today. My right ac joint needs a break and Im too stubborn to talk myself out of it . 225 4x10 was easy but I had to dance around the bench a lot to get comfortable.
Looking for a belt. This guy is selling a used Inzer $70 prong belt that he claims isn't even broken in yet because he bought the wrong size and they wouldn't take it back. Says he drilled a couple new holes in it. That shouldn't affect the performance should it? What should I offer him? $50?
Speaking of crossfit. I love this Megan Benzik chick. Gets busted for Anavar, Dbol and Vyvanse and just owns the fact she intentionally cheated. The crazy thing is she still only finished 28th in her regional.
