It's funny. I tell myself. Hey give it a rest. Then on a day I can do some upper work I talk myself into trying it. I'm too scared to even lift anywhere near 3 plates etc because I don't trust my shoulder nor my ego. Front squats kilt my legs Sunday. Pulling 585 was a chore dropped down to 405#3x10 Back and bis
There's some Russian guy that came out of nowhere to win the Europe regional this year It's crazy to me how much these people workout and exercise
I think that's CrossFit's MO to keep up the charade that they do all they can to keep the sport clean
Last year's 3rd overall male got caught, was his first year at the games. 4 year ban. Don't hold me to this but I don't think so
Always love telling this story. At a birthday dinner I sat next to some CrossFit zealot and started questioning their methods. Anyways before she got up and sat next to the guy who would become her husband (I'm a fucking Cupid over here) I told her Rich Froning got dat good juice. She was livid. She told my old lady she was going to pour her drink on me
Also, think I fixed my squat form for good. Still high bar, but rolled it down just a touch lower than usual and widened feet to just beyond shoulder width.
They do for a small group of the elite crossfitters. That’s probably why you get a random person who finishes on the podium every year because they aren’t part of that testing group.
I feel like my bench is really far behind my other lifts. I'm setting just about the same weight with my bent row as I am with bench... that seems bad.
I've been pretty discouraged by my bench but judging by people in here with similar other numbers to me, my bench seems pretty good. and tbh, I care a lot more about back/core and leg strength than chest. I do a lot of running and swimming, chest strength doesn't do shit for that.
That’s a pretty standard ratio before you get to real advanced levels, but I’m with you on feeling like bench is lagging.
My before work exercise is I do a high plank then 2 pushups every 10 seconds, up to 3:50 which is 46 pushups. Early morning ass kicker to wake myself up.
Got 55 reps between snatch and cleans today on one minute intervals leading up to my singles where I gave myself 2 minutes rest. I’m dead
Any of you familiar with Cory Gregory, looking at him and he looks like a 100% roided up freak but associates himself with guys that can't be. Get a lot of good workouts from his site and they kick my fucking ass, just fail to believe a guy my size can have a 700+ squat/500 bench/not sure what his deadlift is but probably at least 700.
He's a fitness model, he has decided to give his life to this pursuit. That means no or next to no drinking, good diet, and extreme discipline in his workout routine. If you are willing to do that, you can look at least somewhat similar sans genetics. I'm not willing.
I tried pulling sumo for the first time ever yesterday after doing my regular deadlifts. I figured it would help with explosive hip extension. Of course, I had the good sense to roll the bar inside the garage and close all of the garage doors so none of my neighbors could see me lifting sumo. Today, my extensors are filled with the soreness. Unrelated side note, I finally won the state championship on Saturday. I've been trying since 2005 and have always had something go wrong. Not this time. I had it locked up after winning the first four events and didn't even have to do the last event to win it. I was considering doing the final event (conans wheel) with a beer in my hand, but I figured that would be poor sportsmanship.
I'm spending the next week in northern WI at the in-laws house. (lucky me, I know) Fortunately for me, they literally have about 100,000 lbs of large boulders strewn about their 20 acres, so that is what I'll be doing for training. Beer, chalk, and big fucking rocks (and a pistol because of all the bears).
Yesterday was first day of peaking with a comp lift. Sumo singles flew up after watching some great videos from Brazos Valley Barbell. Top single didn’t even hit a RPE 7. Excited to keep picking away at it
It's just a 9mm Beretta. They're only black bears up there and they scare easily, but there's a shitload of them that come right up to their house and it's cub season.
Just tell them you're flattered, thanks for the drink but not interested in men. No need to get violent
My legs are absolute jello. Gonna Delia’s next week and then take a week off when I’m in NYC and Louisville
