How is it the right thing to do? Did he pose in or around the school? If he made no threats or anything then this seems problematic to be expelled for posting a picture of yourself holding a gun.
I'm following the WaPo updates of the Manafort trial. I found this line particularly entertaining: Jurors did not just have to take Gates’s word for it. They were shown an email in which Manafort, confronted with an outline of what he might have to pay in taxes, wrote “WTF,” an expression that commonly denotes dismay. Gates said Manafort was “not happy.”
Being an edgy teen? Seems like an overreaction seeing as this happened off of school grounds and was literally only a picture.
Looked at the responses to this tweet. Cracked me up but then I realized Nick Swardson follows Ben Shapiro.
Ohio will not disclose results until after polls close, but the Columbus Dispatch posted early voting numbers by registration. Franklin County had registered Democrats casting 60% of early votes, to 21% Republican and 19% Independant. That is over 5,000 vote advantage if all D and R vote per their registration. The D number in Delaware was 38% and Licking was 37%. Those numbers are double what they were in 2016.
Nate Cohn been repeatedly tweeting that people need to ignore the early vote because it's going to go O'Connor huge but no matter how big the edge theres no way to know if its enough until the count is well under way.
I like Nate, but holy fuck is he in love with his analysis at all times. He also cannot write tweets worth a shit in a thread, half of them are unintelligible.
This. The Columbine shooters wore trench coats. Oddly enough too, he resembles the one with longer hair.
Amazed at how many people are pissed off about the economy Emmett Till Memorial sign in Mississippi shot multiple times, just weeks after being replaced from DK Spoiler It has been just over two years since a memorial sign in Mississippi, commemorating the place where 14-year-old Emmett Till’s tortured body was pulled from the Tallahatchie river back in August of 1955, was vandalized. It’s been one year since a marker giving the history of the terrible and inhumane injustice that befell Till was defaced. In June of this year, a new sign was re-dedicated to the spot. On July 26, just five weeks after that, four bullets were shot—piercing the sign once again. Patrick Weems, the co-founder of the Emmett Till Interpretive Center was interviewed by the Washington Post explained the vandalism. The riverside sign has been a frequent target because of its isolation, Weems thinks. It’s 10 minutes outside town and two miles down a gravel road. Vandalizing the sign, then, is not some spontaneous act. One has to really want to shoot it, Weems said. This is the sign after it was vandalized in 2016. Emmett Till was visiting Mississippi from Chicago in 1955, a month after his fourteenth birthday; and was accused by a lying and horrendous human being named Carolyn Bryant of whistling at her in a sexually suggestive way, while at a local grocery store. She was white, Till was black, and Till disappeared—his body being pulled from the Tallahatchie river days later. An autopsy revealed that he had been tortured and shot. No one was ever prosecuted in his death. The sign has been stolen once, and now shot on two separate occasions. Anyone vandalizing this sign to supporting not only racism but torture and a true human atrocity and injustice. What happened to Emmett Till is the reason that Moses went to the top of Mount Sinai. What happened to Emmett Till is the why millions of black Americans put their lives on the line every day in the fight for true equality. What happened to Emmett Till is in no small part the reason all of us are here on this site. The memorial sign reads: This is the site where Till’s body was removed from the river. It was then taken to Greenwood, MS. Then the body was sent back to Money, MS, for burial. Via a phone call from Till’s mother, “not to bury her son”, the body was then taken back to Greenwood. The body was then sent to Tutwiler, MS, for final preparation to be sent to Chicago, IL.
I never heard of him until we had the GA-06 special election here. He definitely has some insightful analysis, but every thread he'd post a tweet completely lacking context or only something super election nerds could understand like, Nate: "GOP underperforming, but looks like R+20 w/ ~16 electorate. fwiw ev D 53 R 47." Some guy: "So is that good news for Dems or Repubs?" Nate: "It's a 3 point swing for D ev turnout, but already at 37% turnout" Some guy: "Okay so what does that mean?"
Michigan has a Muslim and an Indian guy (I believe he is Sikh) running on the D side. Holy shit at the racism just being blasted all over today. It's honestly astonishing how forward these people are.
I actually tested this today. in Michigan photo ID is not required. i went in with a couple of cards with my name and address on them. Me, a big white dude, who knew a couple of the people working was given shit and damn near told to leave until I whipped out my ID. I can not imagine if I was not who I am that I would have been allowed to vote. They were not overly pleased with my spur of the moment experiment.
I believe it to be a fluid situation. Spoiler The Indian guy was born in Belgaum. The Muslim dude was born in Detroit/Dearborn I believe
A woman in a hot air balloon realizes she is lost. She lowers her altitude and spots a man fishing from a boat below. She shouts to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am." The man consults his portable GPS and replies, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude. She rolls her eyes and says, "You must be a Republican!" "I am," replies the man. "How did you know?" "Well," answers the balloonist, "everything you tell me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you're not much help to me." The man smiles and responds, "You must be a Democrat." "I am," replies the balloonist. "How did you know?" "Well," says the man, "You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault."
