Draw is kinda lame, but honestly I do think that makes sense. 2 knock downs vs better connections. I'd like a rematch either way.
I truly think Jack Reiss cost Deontay that fight by standing over Fury for 10+ seconds after he was on his feet and not letting Deontay move in for the kill. He practically asked Tyson when he was ready to go. Frustrating.
Man he was starched in the 12th. No clue how he got back up, even if the ref was slow. He was laid the fuck out.
You could see him snap into it after the ref gave 5, then shot up to his feet like it was 8:02 and your 7:30 alarm is blaring. Insanity.
It's gonna be great seeing people act like those feints are some super amazing skill and they were entertained by more than 2% of the fight.
He didn't handle the second knock down any different than the first one. As long as he is consistent he is good in my book. It is still wild that he got up from that shot.
Out of curiosity, I don’t want near enough boxing to know for sure, but was the ref slow to start his count on the last one? Seeing it mentioned on twitter
Yes they literally give the 8 or 9 count, ask if they're okay to continue, and let the fight go on. It was like 15 seconds between the knockdown and continuing the fight which was ridiculous.
the ref should have docked fury a point for when he basically wrestled wilder into the ropes and was being held up by the ropes/wilder. He was not supporting himself and refused to break after multiple warnings.
There's no questions the draw was a business decision. Make one of the fighters earn the win, try to get a rematch and KO. But I'm cool with it.
I love Mauro being so excited for the rematch, and Paulie just being a miserable fuck about everything in response.
fury was also on the ground for a solid second before the count started. Enforced to the letter, fighters need to be all the way up and ready to continue by 10. Fury falling forward and getting his feet underneath him at 10 shouldn't have counted, but they've done away with actually enforcing that rule for a very long time.
while we're talking about the decision, i don't know what the announcing crew was on about. Fury was getting clocked by wilder's jab every time he landed anything. Wilder basically bossed fury around the ring while fury threw basically nothing for the first 3 rounds. One could easily and fairly score all 3 for wilder. throw in 10-8 rounds in 8 and 12 and its very easy to get to a draw.
