I’m really not sure how I’m going to conduct myself watching an NFL draft in which we don’t need a QB or have a Top 10 pick. Will be so foreign.
Can I still accept credit for my Cousins takes but also ask that we don’t pull up anything I said about our lord and savior Baker?
yeah, that's an absurd stat. obviously a lot of that is baker/kitchens, but i think our offensive line's been pretty solid this year. would be interested to see how they rank. would still like to see an upgrade at tackle, but i don't think the line's as dire a need going forward as i thought it would be earlier in the season
Robinson has been a revelation. It would be a hell of a steal if he can keep it turned around, you’re getting a top 5 pick in the draft at OT for next to nothing.
We are in a very strange position of not having a ton of glaring deficiencies. Previously we'd be like, well, we need help at QB, RB, WR, the defensive secondary, and the D line. But Joe Thomas is good! Now it's almost a matter of just drafting improvements to the good players we have. It seems like the one position we need the most is that elite WR. Being a better team, and Baker being Baker means free agents are more willing or likely to come. However, I'm not seeing tons of elite FA WRs on the market for next year. I think we take the highest rated WR and go D line in the 2nd round or FA. I have to think Baker will be pushing hard to look at Marquise Brown. DK Metcalf?
Hard for me to not be a homer, but after 2017 season, no way. He was beating everyone on pure speed alone. This season, he's high pointing balls and fighting a lot more. I think he's a lock for 2nd round but when he runs at the combine, he's going to confirm that he has elite speed and could sneak into the first. Here's his game log. He tweaked his hammy in the first matchup against Texas and played decoy/sparingly for several weeks after that. Also, didn't play against Army so his 1300 yards and 10 TD's largely came in 9 games http://www.espn.com/college-football/player/gamelog/_/id/4241372/marquise-brown We have no shot against Bama if he isn't good to go. If he's good to go, they'll be forced to play 2 high safeties or risk having Surtain lose his drawers in a fly-by. If he's not healthy, it could get ugly.
Combination of improved Oline play and Baker's ability to move in the pocket. Love watching him slide to one side or the other and find an open receiver. Noticed several times Sunday where he got rid of it as a defender was closing in, but not so close that he took a hit. So fucking refreshing after the Kizers, Taylors, etc of the world just stood in the pocket till it collapsed for a sack.
An intriguing FA WR is Tyrell Williams. Probably not a true #1 but I like his size/skills. Not quite 27 and probably shouldn't garner crazy $. Be interesting if the Chargers try to keep him with Keenan Allen making 10 mil, Benjamin 6.5, and Mike Williams near 6.
I just think guys like that are the present and future of the league. The best offenses have multiple guys who can score on any play from anywhere on the field. And if our offense has a personnel deficiency, it's that. I don't know if he's a number 1 WR, but I'm also not sure that term means what it used to.
Landry has been really good on the field and brings some "fuck you" to our offense. So glad Miami gave up on him.
I don't think Landry is a "number 1" but he's damn good. He's got that attitude, but so does Baker. Winning games is only going to solidify how well they feed off each others energy and dominate on the field. Bake hit him with that 50 yard TD last week that was in double (maybe even considered triple) coverage. That's 100% belief and trust. One more weapon that doesn't have skillet hands will make them a nightmare to defend Edit: obviously all that's with Chubb being dominant too
I think Tyrell is gonna get paid big bucks this offseason. This years FA WR class is weak as hell. Biggest names are Tyrell, Randall Cobb, Golden Tate, Josh Gordon (RFA), Larry Fitzgerald. I'm interested in seeing if Dorsey targets Chris Conley. I love that kid. Other WRs that I'd be interested in. Enunwa, Robby Anderson (great deep threat - hate his off-the-field issues), Adam Humphries.
All the flags and stoppages almost make this unwatchable. And the defense is really shitting the bed on this drive. Offense gave us momentum and the D just shitting it away.
