The last page was so exhausting to read. Listen, Florida is obviously a respectable team. Y’all have history, yadda yadda. We know that. We’re relatively new to this level of success. We also like to puff our chest here in our thread. When you come in we’re naturally going to put up the defense shield and probably act like assholes. This is our school. Hoping for a more palatable conversation going forward.
Gee theres something missing from all those years except 2017. Wonder why the Colley matrix wasn't mentioned any other year since 2008..
Hey lurker for many years mechanical engineering alumni in Pennsylvania Forget the haters Go knights!
Believe it or not, there is life outside of tmb, and yikes is a word that is actually used in that real world as well.
You guys don’t even understand. I know it’s for the best, but that’s the tragedy of keeping it a “private” board.
I don't understand what UF has done to think they deserve the revenue bump that 2 home games against UCF would bring. It's not UCFs job to sell tickets for struggling UF.
Didn’t even realize that they wanted a 2-1, with the “1” not even being on campus but instead at the Citrus Bowl. I’m all in favor of a 2-1 if it’s an actual fucking home game for us.
Yea, they want a deal like they have with USF. That means Camping World Stadium. USF gave them like 15k tickets for the “home” game, and is only getting like 250k per game for the two they go to Gainesville. We can’t “give” the kind of tickets they would want at Spectrum, so they wouldn’t it there.
It would be a home game in your home city in a much larger stadium. Wouldn't that lead to larger revenue and turnout for you guys?
I doubt it. We have tons of campus affiliated and non affiliated Gameday vendors, restaurants, stores, and merchandise that would miss out on that revenue. Not to mention the immediate surrounding area of campus that benefits. Plus I doubt the Citrus Bowl is gonna let us use their stadium for free.
I think your AD would have come off a lot better in his reply to Stricklin with a response like this instead of complaining about unfair scheduling. Edit: This was also the same line of reasoning Foley would always give when people asked about UF scheduling more home and homes or neutral site games in the past.
Honestly it's not a big deal I don't know why Strickland went to the Orlando Sentinel to shit on UCF. If a deal doesn't work for both schools then whatever. UF shouldn't be pressed to leave Gainesville if they don't see the benefit and UCF shouldn't be pressed to take a scheduling deal that hurts them financially when they are doing all they can to pay coaches and assistants enough to keep them there.
The anytime, anywhere, any place thing has proven time and again to be pointless. Boise state used that philosophy and all they got out of it was the same thing we are getting. People just look back now and say well boise did that so you should too. And yet we would end up in the same spot. Same with southern miss and any other team that schedules that way. Not viable financially and at best you gain a tad bit of respect with people who will still vote for the brand names over your team in the polls.
He didn't "The Orlando Sentinel obtained the email exchange between White and Stricklin via a public records request regarding scheduling a UF-UCF series" I agree with most of your point, but also feel that if UCF wants to be seen as an equal with bigger programs that they'll have to make short term concessions for the long term benefits. Maybe you'll get there if you're able to continue scheduling lower level P-5 programs for home-home series' and just let the continued success build your reputation.
Hes referring to the initial article that Strickland went to the sentinel for saying they were offering a 2 for 1. That started all this back and forth. We did 2 for 1s for a long time. It stopped mostly after the stadium was built.
