Maybe you know, you talk to your neighbors (the ones paying them illegaly) about who does what kind of work. And then once you know what they do, you see them in the neighborhood on a weekly / daily basis. You guys just can't stand to admit that there is a ton of illegal labor here.

I work from home, the houses are pretty close together. Fairly dense neighborhood. Laborers come and go all day. Most legal and some illegal. The illegal ones tend to be the ones that don't have official company names. No official company outfits. Many times they are doing cash jobs like nannying etc. I actually have no problem with these people. If someone is willing to work for an agreed upon wage then so be it. However, there is no denying that this black market is unregulated and it increases the supply of low level labor available. More supply = less demand.

I didn't say there aren't any illegally employed people. I said the conclusion you drew was false. Why don't we simply enforce our labor laws if that is your main concern? Hire illegals, and pay the consequences. That would be far more effective than building a wall, but turning a blind eye when people manage to get in to the country past the wall.
