Would like a nice set of rubber hex. Got some exercises I can do with them and some I'd like to eventually build up to(DB press/lunges). My DB set right now is about a 50/50 split between iron and rubber hex on pretty much every weight up to 75 and then have an adjustable pair that goes up to 100. Hate the adjustable but didn't feel like spending on all the other weights to 100. Will try and do more research Thanks
Yes, it was me. Don't take it as science, though. It was purely anecdotal. I was having lower back issues. It was partly fatigue, partly weakness, and partly some lumbar misalignment. I decided to attempt suicide and did a set of 50 reps with 140kg. I didn't die, so I did it about once a month and combined it with reverse hypers and 45 deg back extensions 3x per week to bulletproof my lower back. That was 2009 and I haven't had a single low back issue since then. I will say, though, that if you plan to do a 50 rep set of deadlifts, that it will be the one and only thing you do for your workout that day. Also, don't plan on doing anything else for the next few days.
How are you cleaning it? When you bring the log to your lap, you should have the opening for the handles facing slightly forward of vertical, rather than them pointing straight toward the sky or slightly toward you. 1. Bend over and grip the log 2. Row it to your chest 3. With your body bent over and the log still up to your chest, simply sit down. If you do it properly, part of the log will be touching your mid-lower thigh and part of the log touching your nipples. From that position, no part of the log should be touching your belly or any other vulnerable skin (like that of the vagina). 4. Simultaneously retract the shoulder blades, make your torso vertical, and explode through the hips like you would with a hip thruster. 5. Voila! The log is at your chest. 6. Press the log and grab a towel. You're going to need it to wipe off all of the pussy juice that's going to be deposited on your manly log-pressing crotch. The toughest thing about pressing a log is its diameter. Because it's much larger than a bar or an axle, a standard push press will not be nearly as effective. The best way to overcome this is to lean back slightly and turn it into a sort of a standing incline bench press.
its definitely clumsy cleaning it, i may be pushing the handles too far forward. im still thinking through the steps as i do it.
Capstone 88 Less than 4 weeks away...how's it coming? Had what will probably be my heaviest deadlift single prior to the comp this morning at 450. I think I'll pick something slightly north of that for my opener. Overall goal is to break 600 kg total.
Just going in and putting in that work every day. Top set of pulls from this block tonight with [email protected]. Shooting for ~485-495. Top set of squats this week is 4 @8. Hoping 460-465 What do your deadlifts look like the rest of the way?
buddy of mine posts a deadlift PR from an unfamiliar gym on ig. deadlift PR wasn't on our program and where is this strange gym? later he posts a picture of himself, his wife, dana linn bailey and bonnie schroeder. now i see why he was showing off.
I've got a few accessory versions like RDLs and snatch grip sprinkled around, but my conventional drops way down. Next week is a single at 380 followed by 3x3 of 340. Following week is just rack pulls on the conventional day. I know CWS is a fan of undertrained leading up to a comp, but that surprised me. I'll trust the training and see how it goes.
Haha yea you and I are going to feel completely different on meet day. If there’s a lift that can take that kind of break it’s absolutely the deadlift
What do you guys think about hex bars? I’m thinking about using that as a real supplement to my squats because any time I go heavy on squats my back acts up.
I like them. I used them to switch it up sometimes and for farmer's walks. Haven't used mine in a while, but still a fan.
I only do deadlifts with the hex bar. I have disportionately long arms for my height so it works a lot better ergonomically.
If you don’t plan on competing in a strength sport that requires a straight bar deadlift then I actually prefer a hex bar
Pretty much why I never never have tried long term to switch over. I read something recently too you can lift more on average with the hex bar and thus more tension and muscle growth, so I’m game for that since it’s what I really care about
So this is a new pr at 295 but it still shot up. Also my bench woke up finally felt good. Did 275 with ease
This is how former Crimsun Tahd Gawd AJ McCarron squats fellas... take notes D1 Training - Mobile 13 hrs · AJ McCarron, Oakland Raiders QB putting in the work this morning with Chris McNair! D1AOC where the Pro’s Train! #D1Nation #D1AOC #AOC #raiders #NFL#Football
ive heard all these and i see this in almost every cfb spring weightroom video too. not a good video to post.
why exactly would he be working on his vertical leap? I'm totally willing to believe this, but wasn't aware that was regularly trained for pocket passing quarterbacks
Knew that would be the excuse. That’s what box squats are for. Also speaking of Verticals. I can touch the rim at 6’3 260 I’m the next Zion lol
Some guy at the gym was doing planks right in the middle of the walkway here this morning. Seemed out of place.
Did 4 sets of bench with 5 pounds more on 1 side than the other and didn't notice till I unloaded it, that was interesting.
Been out of this thread for a while because I've been embarrassingly lazy, but this is absolutely beautiful. Also, I've started lifting again, so I don't feel ashamed to come back in here.
howdy fellas anyone have any favorite upper back & reat delt exercises? That area used to be a strength of mine but now I suffer from forward rounding shoulder disease from sitting at a computer too much. Right now my go-tos are super high volume reverse fly with varying angles and cable face pulls from a high angle.
Band face pulls. Loop it around the top of the rack and pull for 3x20-30. My traps have blown up doing them
t-bar rows and high pulls. i use a belt squat rack to do rows with a rope or cambered bar, lets me work angles i couldnt with a bar.
Are you standing for this, so pulling with a slight downward angle? I gotta get back in the t bar row game. My gym doesn’t have any of those BB clamps but there might be a good corner I can jam a bar into.
you can sit reverse on an incline bench and use dumbells and some folks use cables. our strongman program has a shit ton of band pulls.
Really good stretching/cardio exercise I've been doing recently is putting hip circle on and walking on the treadmill, legs have been feeling so much better.
Have a set of 5 bands waiting for me when I get home Friday and I’m really stoked to get to work with them
