Yeah, if there's a complete confidentiality agreement that he agreed to the NFL had to have cut an absolutely massive check.
It cracks me up that over this whole situation the NFL completely did this to themselves, with owners and execs making it into a 10X bigger controversy than it ever needed to be. The money isn't that big a deal because the league still absolutely prints it, but the fact that they settled is proof that it being such a story was damaging, and they wanted it to go away, badly.
Yeah but in true NFL fashion it's only $15m guaranteed with $45m over 5 years, most of it tied to roster bonuses in years 4 and 5 so he isn't likely to get all of it
I’m excited for Jim Irsay or another owner to get hammered at the combine and break the confidentiality agreement In front of a gaggle of reporters at St Elmo’s
Odds are it was something like Goodell sending threatening emails to bills and browns not to sign him and calling Kaep a racial slur.
I’m not reading this thread, but this was the most obvious thing in the entire world. What in the actual fuck would make 68 of you to vote no. I know we hope a lot of dumbasses on this board, but I didn’t realize 68 of you were willing to put it on the record. I just wish it was a public poll so we could see who the racists are
Saying he didn’t have what it takes to be a starting QB is one thing, but to argue he wasn’t being blackballed by the NFL is delusional
what? As Niners fan I was glad he was gone and we got Jimmy G now? What’s ur point dump? Never did I say I’m glad he was blackballed or couldn’t play in the nfl?
I didn’t vote no either. I was saying as a backup the media attention would be a distraction and no one wants the backup QB getting all the attention. I said the same thing about Tebow.
Crazy how much the tide of public opinion has swung Kaepernick's way. It really wasn't that long ago where the public was heavily against Kaep and kneeling. Even this board which is much more progressive than your typical football message board had a fair amount of people against it.
I voted "no" because I thought someone was going to pick him up. I thought there was no possible way that the NFL owners would collectively be dumb enough to collude against hiring him. I was obviously wrong.
Don’t want to speak for tegg but I always thought there would be *one* out of 32 owners wanting to do it. That’s probably the strongest evidence for some form of collusion—just pure statistical unlikelihood of 32 independent decisions not to give him a workout
Fair. I was thinking under the guise of NFL owners are basically a billionaire white boys club, and once Dear Leader said something, Kap was good as gone
I mean, Mike Vick went to jail and was rightfully crucified for his transgressions in the media and he still got an NFL job after he got out of jail. Donte Stallworth killed a guy, served time in jail, and still got picked up by four NFL teams after his sentence. I can’t see how what Kaep did is in the same galaxy as these other clowns yet he’s never even had a camp invite. How can you say he hasn’t been black balled?
People eating up the "disrespecting the troops" thing was such a baffling turn. NFL fans are possibly worse than Clemson fans but it's close.
